Of course. I was trying to decide if i should just grab a used copy at GameStop, and if I needed the DLC or not. I saw that there's a UK GotY version, which apparently you can play in the US. But it's an extra $5-10 I've seen on Amazon and eBay vs just the game and DLC.

Maybe I should check in game thread.

Saw that in my list. Wish I hadn't got it in Steam summer sale now since I still haven't played PC version. Oops.

Think there's 4-5 games like that, free from PS+ but sitting in my pile in Steam too. I guess either way I need to play them.

You need the DLC.

Some bit and bobs about the PS4 Pro here: http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/20/1...

The more I read about it, the less likely I feel like I am to buy it. And I even own and HDR capable 4k TV.

Is there anywhere that lists what games will support PS4 Pro and in what ways?

From Gamespot:

Spoiler:

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

PS4 Pro with a 4K display:

4K resolution and graphical improvements.

The Elder Scrolls Online

PS4 Pro with a 4K display:

Increased graphical fidelity running in native 4K resolution.

PS4 Pro with a 1080p display:

Increased graphical fidelity.

Fallout 4

PS4 Pro with a 4K display:

Bethesda said it expects the game to "take advantage of the PS4 Pro in 4K along with enhanced lighting and graphics features," but didn't provide any further specifics.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

PS4 Pro with a 1080p display:

Super sampling anti-aliasing.

NBA 2K17

PS4 Pro with a 4K display:

Native 4K resolution running at 60 FPS with HDR support.

PS4 Pro with a 1080p display:

2K confirmed to GameSpot that it will still render a 4K resolution even on a 1080p display. The company said this should result in "much better anti-aliasing" with HDR support.

Paragon

PS4 Pro with a 1080p display:

Enhanced visual effects, procedural ground cover, higher scene complexity, greater texture fidelity, and dynamic reflections.

Thumper

PS4 Pro with a 4K display:

4K resolution with no upscaling. PlayStation VR will see improved rendering quality at the same 90 FPS as the regular PS4.

The Witness

PS4 Pro with a 4K display:

1440p resolution or possibly higher upscaled to 4K with a consistent 60 FPS. Text, menus, and other UI will be set at native 4K.

PS4 Pro with a 1080p display:

1080p resolution instead of 900p and increased antialiasing quality from 2x to 4x MSAA, while keeping a solid 60 FPS.

Killing Floor 2

PS4 Pro with a 4K display:

1800p checkboard rendering on 4K TV (3200x1800) optimized for 4K TVs.

PS4 Pro with a 1080p display:

Increased framerate and supersampling, as well as increased texture resolutions (which may also be present at 4K).

We'll see, still several days to have these guys sit in the cart and stew.

I preordered the new Rise of the Tomb Raider on PSN and it included Tomb Raider DE. I'm not sure if that deal is still around but if you're planning on buying it, take a look.

Nice! Good call ill look into that.

Anybody interested in World of Final Fantasy? I just now heard about this and looks like it could be a nice warm-up for XV?

A bunch of us started discussing it over here in the Final Fantasy thread. I'll be snagging it, but I wouldn't go in expecting a warm-up for XV.

Got a bunch of new friends last night and Rocket League installed.

Rock Band 4 out for delivery.

Hit me up for something this weekend.

Finally got my PS 4 yesterday. Managed to find the GWJ community. Posted hello in there and immediately got a friend request. Those of you who aren't already friends with me from PS3, feel free to add me.

I only have Uncharted 4 and Disgaea 5 right now. Rock Band Rivals will be here tomorrow.

And a bunch of PS+ games stockpiled from the last year or two. Recommend me something to install if anyone wants to play multiplayer something this weekend.

Helldivers and Rocket League are a must!

I overlooked this. Thank you so much!

Is anyone planning to upgrade from a PS4 to a Pro?

I would have upgraded for a 4K blu-ray player but not any more. I'm happy with the PS4 as it stands so I got an Xbox One S and I'm good until the Nintendo Switch. ...honestly I may already be good for the next 10 years.

Maybe when the Pro releases, side by side comparisons will make the need more clear.

ClockworkHouse wrote:

I have a really nice PC, and I don't have a 4K TV, so I'm definitely not going to until I get to a game where it would make some FPS improvements and maybe add some better antialiasing at 1080p. If they detail some major improvements for FF XV and that game turns out to be good, I may be tempted. I dunno. I plan on holding off as long as I can. My guess is that I'll only get one when my current PS4 craps out on me.

Unless my PS4 dies I may never bother with the Pro. Even at that, it may be too much of an outlay with the Nintendo Switch in 2017.

Count me with the last two cheap Luddites.

I didn't even get an HD tv until a few years ago, and it's "only" 720p. The only blu-Ray disc I own came with a regular DVD.

The only thing that might get me into a ps4 pro is the death of my current ps4, or the eventual day that a majority of the games I want don't run on on a classic ps4.

It looks like HDR is the kind of visual jump that could get me to buy a new system, but it's probably going to be quite a while before I bother with a 4K TV.

It doesn't seem like the other improvements are significant enough to worry about. I'll probably only get one if my current PS4 dies.

Yeah, i have a launch PS4 and outside of some noise on occasion, it is in pretty good shape. I have thrown a 2TB hard drive in and just got PSVR last week. I'll be sticking with this one for a bit unless it dies. Then definitely will go for the PS Pro unless it seems like a PS5 is on the horizon or something.

So I got to try out Playstation VR last night. Walked into a very small izakaya where they serve good cider and it's very out-of-the-way. This guy had evidently been telling the owner about VR, and had ended up bringing in his VR set-up to demonstrate it. I had a go and...holy sh*t, that was awesome. Shooting scary clowns was very entertaining, and I had an interesting moment of vertigo with the rollercoaster section, but otherwise had no issues at all with motion sickness. Very, very tempting to pick one up, but I'm going to wait a little while for the technology to mature, and for more games to arrive.

Also, I switched out my old PS4 HDD for a new 500GB SSD. Incredibly easy to do, so kudos to Sony for making it so user-friendly. It's unlikely I'll run out of space, so having that SSD making things just a bit snappier is a lovely cherry on top.

I'm usually an early adopter on new hardware but the Pro gives me pause. I bought a huge TV about 2 years ago that isn't 4k or HDR so I can't justify a new one, and I gather the Pro wouldn't be much of a step up in my situation.

They were showing it off at TGS running on PS4 Pro, but I haven't seen any sort of list of the exact enhancements. Really surprised that wasn't in the Gamespot list that was quoted.

The only way I see myself upgrading is if my ps4 dies. I recently upgraded to 2tb hard drive and I don't own a 4k TV so I don't see a reason to switch earlier

I'd still like a Pro, but I'd rather get a Switch and if there isn't a good trade in upgrade deal for my current PS4 I'm definitely not going to be getting a Pro any day soon.

Wow. I'm actually really surprised by the reaction here. I think of GWJ as an enthusiast community where people are, frankly, pretty easily enabled on purchases. But so far, no one has said they're planning to upgrade. I now seriously wonder about the PS4P's prospects at retail.

I think it's really for a different audience than us. Most of the people on GWJ who are into powerful machines have a PC, so the Pro is fairly redundant if you're buying it for the extra oomph.

I don't think it's going to be a failure. I think it's just something many will phase to gradually.

Add me to the list of people who will buy a Pro if my existing PS4 dies.
Of course, since I still have my original PS1, PS2, and PS3... I don't see that happening, but who knows!

Sure, but I know some of the people who responded don't have gaming PCs or don't use them much, and those people aren't sold, either.
