3DS Catch-all

Hey, still more good third-party games for the 3DS than good first-party third-party games for the Vita.

In all seriousness, I think Atlus's 3DS support alone sold me on it.

Well done Clocky

Oh, Clocky. Whew. That was a good one.

Regarding the Fire Emblem bundle, I'd jump all over this if Nintendo had a sane online store where I could download previously purchased games to more than one system. I'd buy it as my more portable 3DS when I don't want to pack the XL. But I can only play all my digital games on the one system.

If that 3DS was an XL I would be all over it. Unfortunately, no.

That is a pretty system. It should be a nice contrast to the upcoming Fire Emblem game. It may be good, but it sure is ugly.

Its bundled with the new Fire Emblem.

I like the look of it. The overhead map isn't that great looking, but the combat animations are pretty.

Different tastes, I suppose. I'm interested in the game on its gameplay merits, but I really don't like the look of it from the released trailer. Animations seem ok, but the colors are muted, character models are bland, and the spell effects just look lazy.

It's probably not fair to compare the two, but the new Pokemon trailer is just gorgeous in comparison.

I'd put them about on par with each other, actually. Different strokes, though.

When you run out of games for your PSP emulator, you really should look into one.

If only I liked Nintendo first party games..

Must be hard trying to live life devoid of fun.

So because I forgot to set my reservation option on my game rental service, I got sent a copy of Heroes of Ruin, a sort of Diablo-like game that came out from Square Enix and n-Space last year. n-Space isn't exactly known for top shelf stuff but I was pretty surprised by this. The story's pretty lame and the frame rate is all over the place (particularly with 3D on) but this is a pretty fun dungeon crawler with several varied classes, a good loot system and a UI that works well in a console setup. The dungeons are relatively short and well suited for the more time-limited circumstances portable play usually has. Better yet, it has 4 player on-line co-op that works stunningly well and there's a surprisingly large group still playing it online, even though it's been out a while and didn't sell very well. If I load my game up in wide open online mode, I get 3 other players within a few minutes, lag free and they usually stick around for a while. It even has voice chat, though I have it disabled so I don't know how well it works.

If you like Diablo-like loot action games and have a 3DS, that might be worth giving a look. I didn't know if I'd dig it but I definitely plan to finish it now.

The fact that it isn't an XL is probably going to keep me from replacing my current model. What mostly grabs me is the color. I just...that shade of blue is perfect. But I'm not in high school anymore and cannot afford to swap systems (and risk losing my Ambassador games plus Theatrhythm DLC) for a mere color change (as opposed to when I was in high school and traded in my Arctic White GBA for the Toys'R'Us exclusive black one).

You won't lose your Ambassador games. I've transfer'd to the XL and the games came with me. Money on the other hand. I understand.

I doubt this will be the last bundle they make. I just hope they release a very pretty blue in the XL (even though the blue XL is also pretty enough I want to grab it).

Yeah I traded my GBA for the NES GBA. And I replaced my DS Phat with the Legend of Zelda DS Lite.

But getting too old for that kind of stuff now.

Rumors are floating about that Resident Evil: Revelations is getting ported to other platforms.

On one hand I suppose I should understand business decisions and be happy that more people will get the chance to play the game. But this pissed me off when I discovered Xbox and PS3 would be getting Dead Space: Extraction as well.

This is the sort of thing that doesn't help when someone says "X has no games", which is still happening to the 3DS. You can argue that Revelations is the best Resident Evil made since 4 and anyone that loves Resident Evil should snag a 3DS and grab that game (I still insist you don't need the second analog as I've played through the game 2.5 times now and done fine, one of those playthroughs on Hard). Draw people's attention to a platform.

But now what reason do they have if it is ported?

From a business perspective I'm hoping Capcom is looking at the reviews and positive reception and thinking "Hm, maybe we ought to do Resident Evil more like this after all?" Then again, Operation Raccoon City still sold a good amount, as did Resident Evil 6 (though considering they said they needed to sell 6-7 million, and I'm pretty sure they haven't yet...).

Capcom just ports the hell out of everything. They excel at re-releasing the same game over and over and over and selling it again and again and again. :p

I think the 3DS is beyond needing that sort of concern. You've had big first party launches in in October and November, Fire Emblem in early February, Luigi's Mansion and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in March, and the system seller to end all system sellers in October.

I'm with Blind_Evil on this one. The 3DS is in good shape now and it'll continue to improve throughout this year.

If people haven't bought a 3DS for Revelations by now they probably aren't going to buy a 3DS for Revelations Coincidentally, RE4 was a limited-time Nintendo exclusive which was ported to the PS2 after a year or two. It might've cost Capcom an appearance in Brawl but it was probably a good business decision.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the big game in October?

Pokemon X/Y?

Ok, that makes sense. Completely off my radar, but undoubtedly a system seller. Once again, forgive my ignorance.

I think the big thing with X/Y is that it'll be the first Pokemon game that truly breaks out of the traditional bounds of the franchise and gets "more modern" in its presentation. So people that haven't played in a few iterations may finally jump back in.

It's been a year since it came out? The lag time between 360->PS3 ports was far shorter in a few cases, and it didn't apply then. It definitely doesn't apply now.

The new Luigi's Mansion is coming in March?! How did I miss that?! One of my favourite (and one of the most underrated) GameCube releases! That's a day one buy for me.

Pricing details for the Fire Emblem bundle: $200. Includes a pre-installed digital copy of the game on a 4 GB SD card. Sexy blue design as posted previously. Available Feb. 4th alongside the game's launch.

Thanks for the info. Pre-installed digital copy == no purchase for me.

I'm not positive, but that's the scuttlebutt.
