Euro Truck Simulator 2 catch-all

FREE with next update!

SCS is golden.

That's awesome. I have two cities left to visit in the original + Going East, it'll be nice to have a few new routes.

I think it's time to backup my folder and install the Scandinavia mod as well.

Also in the new update:

- Radio station favorites
- Seat adjustment

Finally, no more scrolling to the bottom of the list to find my UK station... (Oxford Jack FM, in case you're wondering)

Heh... other games might call this camera adjustment, but I like their commitment to theme.

Same.

My go-to is a French 80's station that's all the way towards the bottom that I can never remember the call sign for.

I think that's the one I listen to. KDFM or something? Has -Geneve after it?

My favorite station is EKR radio out of the UK.

That sounds about right.

I come for the, Girls Just Want To Have Fun music, but I stay for the hilarious French 80's synth/pop tracks.

KMFDM?

Doin' it again.

Whoa. That's a reference that hasn't crossed my mind in over a decade.

My go to station is a Brussels station. It's fun when they come up with the traffic report and they mention neighbourhoods and streets i recognise.
Everything else is in Flemish so I have no idea what they're saying. I could drive through Brussels and drive right through an accident and not even know!

Now that would be an amazing bit of technology. Scan the radio stations and put in actual traffic issues based on live transmissions.

I must admit I am crestfallen by European radio in the game. There's something so incredibly immersive about listening to music from the same country as the one you're driving through, and I was looking forward to it very much.

So I dialed up a French station and they play... American music. I try another -- American music. Same with the German station. And another German station. And the Polish one. And the Dutch one. I occasionally hear a native-language track, but they're few and far between. Is the US music industry so pervasive?

Do you guys know/like any stations in ETS2 that are a bit more "local"? I mean, I love Jack FM and classic "driving" rock, but it would be nice to hear something different. As it is, it seems the only thing that's native are the commercials, which is not really the point.

I suspect the stations that do streaming are going for a more international audience, so they don't generally feature local music. It's probably the local stations that don't go through the expense to set up streaming that are playing more locally relevant culture.

I started up my own list of stations for cities in the game, but gave up when I realized the same thing you describe - a lot of them were all playing the same stuff.

Eastern Europe seems to have more streaming stations with a local flavor.

Agreed that Eastern Europe seems to have more interestingly local stuff. There are a couple of Radio Beograd (Belgrade, Serbia) stations that I liked, and it's always worth tuning into Country Radio from the Czech Republic, because you really can't beat Grand Ole Opry hits sung in Czech.

Radio Beat, Archangel, from Czechoslovakia. And it's right near the top of the list.

Are others running the public beta patch on Steam? I installed it last night, and (of course), it reset my current job and pushed me back to my garage in Manchester when I really wanted to run to some of the new cities down south.

Didn't get any job opportunities that way, so I'm running to what I hope is about 900 miles from Venice so I can get some job offers for Austria and Italy.

The reworked radio is nice, favorites work well. Once you select some favorites, click the star icon at the top of the column and it sorts them all to the top.

New launcher, it's prettier than the old one. The seat adjustment is welcome. I basically angled my FOV down just a little bit so I can see the center of the steering wheel. It's much easier to know when the wheel is centered when you can see the truck logo in the middle of the wheel.

The speed limit appearing on the sat nav is also a welcome addition, but it's not always correct (beta!), and I'm hoping I can figure out how to make it display in kmh instead of mph when I'm in Europe. I like the mental exercise of translating the Euro kmh to mph when my truck speedometer is in mph.

Also, I suspect he has an American doing some of his coding, because the in-truck speedometer reads 50 mph when the outside speed limit is 100 kmh

Nice.

Thanks for the impressions.

As an American currently located abroad......yeaaah, they need to work on that a bit. LOL

I spent a couple of minutes yesterday looking for the seat-adjust menu.

Oh no - without first opting in to the public beta?

Public... Be-ta?

Take with your usual grain of salt since I haven't found an official source yet, but...

Release date for American Truck Simulator is now scheduled for Feb 20, 2015. It will have 20 trucks, over 100 cities, be set in the "south part of the USA" and include multiplayer.

Oh, if you wonder what they are doing with the money from those paint jobs DLC?
They bought 20 tons of sand

Holy cow, that's dedication bordering on madness.

Can I preorder ATS?

For comparison, how many cities were in the base game of ETS2?

According to the Wiki there's 69 in the base game and an additional 13 in the Going East expansion.

Speaking of paint job DLC... has anyone noticed the Fantasy Paint Job DLC that cropped up on the new releases yesterday? It showed up but when you clicked on it it would take you back to the main steam page.

When you search for it there's a trailer for the fantasy paint jobs, but it seems to be a broken link and equally unviewable.

I hope that doesn't mean "The South" because being unable to drive coast to coast until an expansion will be very disappointing.

Still, I'll definitely pick this game up. I love ETS2 and bringing the experience home has a lot of appeal to me.

Given that the screenshots they have released have been from San Francisco and the Southwest I don't think they mean "The South".

Lo and behold the Fantasy DLC debuts in the humble weekly bundle: Humble Weekly Bundle

I might do more Euro Trucking if I could paint a dragon or wizard on my truck, but I'm not going to buy a $10 bundle just for that.
