Metro: Last Light Кatch-all

Pages

First light on Metro: Last Light has been shed. There's talk of statements by THQ to keep the sequel an "artful and cerebral experience", and previews suggesting it will still be a slow, deliberate shooter with scarce resources. Also: civil war underground, a doomsday device, and pneumatic sniper rifles.

Barely informative teaser trailer:

Кто-нибудь читал Метро 2034?

I can't wait!

Tagitty Tag Tag!

I'm definitely intrigued by this, but I hope the sequel doesn't have the same stealth mechanics as the first game. 2033 was clearly designed with stealth in mind, but it was way too painful to actually use since every enemy in the level would go on full alert as soon as I made the slightest noise. Fix it, remove it entirely, just do something about it.

I really need to play Metro 2033 someday. It totally looks like my kind of game but I just haven't dropped the cash on it. Maybe I'll treat myself to it for Father's Day.

Yeah, pretty much this.

I'd be able to get through most of a stage with the stealthy approach, but on most levels, there came a point where I needed would get as far as I could and then had to blast my way out. 2033 was one of those games where F6/F7 were my friends.

Imagine if they made a STALKER game that did stealth properly! Oh, how I would play that game.

I dunno, the whole

Spoiler:

Underground Nazis

thing is where 2033 almost jumped the shark for me. If they can match the grim, dark bits and the pitch perfect ambient civilian chatter I'm back on board.

Well, there's my first "day 1" purchase of 2012.

Metro 2033 had my jaw on the floor for much of the game, so whatever these guys do next gets a free pass from me, and I'm pumped they're keeping it in the same universe which I really wanted to explore much, much more of after the first game.

Informative? No. f*cking awesome? Yes.

I'm with you but apparently the combat is so flawed that I'm hesitant, to say the least.

Yay!

I really, really enjoyed Metro 2033, and I'm very much looking forward to the sequel. Yes, the original was flawed in many ways, but I thought it rose far above them. I'm hopeful that they can fix the problems in the first game while preserving the atmosphere and tension. (Stealth definitely comes to mind.)

All that said, I guess I'm even more Debbie Downer than usual today, because I thought that trailer sucked ass.

Comrades! To the tunnels!

I didn't read it - but this is a divergent story line from the official story. I am excited for this.

See Infinity Ward? That's how you do a teaser trailer, not just a wavy green line with meaningless dialogue over it.

I loved Metro 2033 as well. The stealth was kind of poor but the atmosphere was absolutely brilliant, the type of despair and loneliness that only the Eastern Bloc developers can do well. That's not a strike against them or where they are, they are just very good at that type of design. Only one request, please no more Librarians. Few enemies have intimidated the f*ck out of me in a game the way they did.

That trailer made me nauseous... but very excited! I loved Metro 2033.. I thought it had a perfect balance of ammo and tension to make each firefight a good sense of desperation... I didnt bother "stealthing" anything so that didnt bother me as much.

Tagging. Love the first game, still have to do a run through on the harder/hardest difficulties so that the ammo conservation actually means something to me.

Gametrailers just put up another trailer for Last Light... Same music but now with actual gameplay. I really need to get through Borderands this weekend so I can add Metro 2033 to my Father's Day wishlist.

Looks good. Guess I need to start stocking up on filters for my mask.

"Очень нужная и своевременная книга!" Нет, не читал. Стоит?

Over in the Eastern Bloc, "despair and loneliness" means "realism"

Wow, it's impressive that it looks even better than Metro 2033.

Have some screenshots.

Imma be in mah bunk.

Whoah.

Do we know if it's the same developer? I'm hoping, with no knowledge whatsoever, that the original made a ton of money, the devs got the local equivalent of Ferraris, and now they have a much bigger budget for the second game.

(As opposed, to, say, the Infinity Ward effect, in which the company is screwed so bad by its parent that it ceases to exist in all but name, or the Fallout: NV effect, where the franchise is shipped off to third-stringers at another company.)

I wonder if they are using the same game engine. While it looked good for the most part, it was very stressful on hardware. Those screenshots look even better than Metro 2033. It would take some ridiculous hardware to get that kind of result if they are using the same engine.

Now, if they are using the game engine from TW2, I could understand the screenshots looking that good.

Looking at those screenies I'm going to have to get a new graphics card and play these games as a two-fer. That's spectacular.

This is a first day buy for me, as is STALKER 2 whenever that decides to see the light of day.

Incredibly excited for more Metro goodness.

Here's the E3 trailer:

The stealth sections make it look like Artyom is a hardened killer now instead of a scared kid.

Part 1 of the gameplay demo from E3.

Amazing atmosphere. The lighting is superb.

I want this now!!!

I started Metro 2033 yesterday and it's much, MUCH better than I expected it to be. No cheap scares, just the good stuff

Is it just me though or is Metro 2033 a beast of a game? It's bringing my PC to its knees, I had to lower the settings in order to run it on my machine (and it's not very old and was quite good when I assembled it)

I can't wait for this though. Those screenshots are jaw-droppingly awesome!
