Now I have to watch Legend again, damnit.

Tim Curry... *swoon*

It’s still good. Probably my second favorite Tim Curry role.

I saw an interesting retrospective about that movie not that long ago. Production had some challenges.

Back in the days right before Lord of the Rings came out, everyone I knew was hyped for it.

One day, my buddy at work says he has huge news - his girlfriend visited her family in China and got a bootleg pre-release disc of the first LotR movie.

The next day, he says there's bad news - the girlfriend watched it with her mom and they both agreed it was... okay, but not that great, and not what they'd expected.

Day three, buddy comes to the office and sheepishly reports that he has now seen the movie, and it turned out to be a LotR-themed case with an old dvd of "Legend" inside.

The older I get the less I like The Police, and just.... f*ck that song whichever way you slice it.

That's interesting. The song is about a dangerous control freak. You are not meant to like them. Sting himself has confirmed this and was very surprised and bemused (as was I) when other people thought it was a romantic song.

I totally get that, but the weird way some of their songs have been romanticised over the years, the pure waves of smug, rich, smart but not too smart, ‘just aced my first unit of philosophy’ that flow from the speakers when you spin any one of their albums, and the sheer embarrassment of being totally taken by them up until my early thirties have taken the sheen right off for me. There’s still some excellent music there, but the lyrical turds are too much for me to handle now.

I think I may have got a hot take in our video thread sorry :p

FYI: Legend is currently $8 to purchase on Prime Video.

Satan is played by Ryan Reynolds.

Just for accuracy, the ad campaign is from Ryan Reynold's production company Maximum Effort, but Satan is played by a bodybuilder named Aaron Reed.

That makes sense. It didn't sound a bit like Ryan Reynolds.

Thanks. Now I know I made the right decision never to watch this.

It was quite a ride at the time it aired, but no, I wouldn't recommend it. J.J. Abrams is great at creating mysteries, not so great at coming up with explanations.

Yeah, the wife and I watched Lost season 1 and enjoyed it, but I remember after the first episode of the second season we looked at each other and said "this is the X-Files isn't it?" and gave up.

It takes a great amount of Hubris to expend that amount of time and money while deciding to just make it up as you go along.

No. You can’t hear the questions clearly. It’s a feature not a bug.
