NYC/Metro Area Slap & Tickle Thread

I know this is relatively last minute, but my Sierra On-line inspired play, Adventurer's Quest, is getting a public reading this Friday @ 8 PM at Cap21 (18 W 18th Street.)

There will be wine, illogically used inventory items, and much hanging out!

Congrats! Can't make it, but would you be willing to allow people to read it?

It is published in Indie Theater Now, but the thrust of this reading is for me to give it a new gloss / polish. The company hosting the reading I think intends to ressurect the play, so hopefully you can see it before too long! (It is definitely one of those plays that plays better than it reads.)

Well, living in NJ and having two kids has put a cramp on my theater viewing in NYC, so I'll check it out on ITN. (I'm a playwright as well, so think I can extrapolate from reading it. )

Congrats again.

Thank you! Drop me a PM with your e-mail and I'll send you the latest (the play has been tweaked ever so slightly since it got published!) Keep me posted when you've got something going up as well!

Hello NYC based Goodjers!

I'm back in the city after an awesome honeymoon, and I'd love for some slapping and tickling to happen.

My film is being screened as a special event hosted by the website Modern Loss. After the screening is a Q&A and then drinks and hanging out. That's on the 29th @7 PM.

Also, I'm still bummed I missed the BBQ, so I'd also be up for BBQ part deux on another night :).

Yes!

Damn, can't make it on the 29th. You fellas have fun!

Sounds cool. Unfortunately I teach on Wednesdays at 7pm so I can't make the screening, but hanging out later or another day would be nice.

By the way, this Thursday at 8pm - 10pm is going to be a Killer Queen game night at Waka Waka (26 Clinton St). It's a really fun and unique arcade experience, check out this NY Times article about it.

This interests me.

Bummed I missed the last S&T. Anyone wanna do a Winter one in November/December or in early 2015?

I'm game for a winter S&T for sure!

Also, as a heads up, I have a free ticket available for a screening for my film tomorrow night @ 7 PM at the Producer's club. Info on the screening is here. PM me if you are interested!

Hate to hijack the topic, but if you guys are in NYC I could use some help doing some software testing for Vimeo! Check out this page for info and fill out the form if you're interested (we're in need of Android users, specifically!)

Edit: Test over! Removed link, thanks all.

I'm not an Android user, is that an issue? I'll see if I can take a long lunch one day and swoop on in.

If you're an iOS user, it'll be less likely we'll pick you out - of the respondents, we're at 90% iOS. I mean, we were expecting Apple bias, but weren't expecting that much of a skew ^_^

Gotcha - I'll pass the link on to some Android-ers I know then!

Been having a blast at The Big Apple Film Festival. My feature screens on Saturday night, but I'm going to be at Tribeca Cinemas all day that day, probably starting around noon, to catch some of the other films. If anyone wants to come by and join me for some independent film watching, or even just a quick drink at The Varick Room (attached to the theater) I'd love to see you! Bonus points if you stick around or come to see The Widowers :).

Hey everyone - With my feature now being distributed and released on February 18th, my company has great excuse to throw a release party the night before! We're going to be at a new space in the Gowanus area, near the Atlantic Ave stop in Brooklyn called Three's Brewery on February 17th at 8 PM. You are also welcome to bring guests, as this is a celebrationa nd the space is apparently huge :).

Sadly, not going to be able to make it :/

I can't make this one, however I can vouch that Threes Brewery is a very nice drinking establishment

If you get hungry, there's a nice bar/restaurant a block away on 4th Ave that is also very nice; Australian pub? Something like that?

OH! Sheep Station, I think? I love that place and I haven't been for ages! THAT would be an excellent slap and tickle venue one weekend. (I realize middle of the week in Brooklyn is a tall order.)

Maybe during the weekend when I got back to my parents house in Carroll Gardens

What weekend is that? I'd love to put something in the books.

Heavens to murgatroid, I made this thread 9 years ago, and no-one's posted in it in a year now.

THAT ENDS TODAY.

So obviously, right now, it'd cold and snowing. But it's been far too long since there's been a GWJ meetup in the area, and I'm hoping (desperately) that people would like to do something fun again in the near future. Anyone? Bueller?

We should meet up in the Dark Zone

I recently moved to Greenwich CT and would not mind hosting something at my place.

I'm in for some fun. I have a friend who owns a bar in Brooklyn called Butter & Scotch. I bet I could coordinate with her to have have her place host a GWJ S&T. It is a dessert / craft cocktail place, but they also have killer brunch options.

I'd also be up for something more central, if that's easier. On weekdays I finish work around 6.

I'm pretty flexible as well, and definitely up for hangouts. If we end up doing something at Abu's place, I can provide a car for carpooling.

I had actually talked about doing something with Rallick a couple weeks ago. Of course, I have to get permission from the boss, but I would love to host something. I would also be up for a visit to the city/boroughs too.
