NYC/Metro Area Slap & Tickle Thread

Work the crowd Pred, work the crowd!

Don't feel bad, the original Chicagoland one only pulled 3. We're a pretty awesome 3, though.

I'll be planning on going, but that doesn't mean I will actually be able to make it. Too much depends on job offers and visas at this time to say anything.

So that makes two. Three, including me. That's kind of pathetic, really.

I'm still on the fence. I'd really like to be there, but my difficulty is that I'm very uncomfortable traveling in/around NYC. I was really hoping that we'd end up meeting somewhere else.

I think I can count on two hands the number of times I've been in NYC since we moved to the area over 25 years ago.

Regardless, if I can psychologically work myself up enough to overcome my anti-NYC issues, then I'll be there.

Tell us your story, croaker! Why do you hate NYC? WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA?!

I could possibly be there.. to far out to tell though right now.

I didn't realize I hated America.

I'm just not a fan of large metropolitan areas in general. I handle suburbs reasonably well. My wife likes visiting the city and doesn't understand my reluctance, either. She'll head in on a whim; that'd make me shudder. Maybe the problem is simply that I'm a misanthrope, and high human concentration levels bring out the worst.

Yet I have lived quite a few years now in NJ, the most densely populated of all US states, and always within reasonable commuting distance of NYC. Go figure.

Do the Bump people.

Again, July 21st. Dave & Buster's. We're making this final now. I hope to see at least someone other than myself there.

BTW, is there a reason why you chose the Harry Potter book 7 release date for this get together?

Thread, what are you doing on page 8?? You should be reminding people that this event is only about three weeks away!

I was about to give this the old bumparooski.

So, again, July 21st, and if any of you bastards skip this for Harry f*cking Potter I will personally kick you in the jimmies. Seriously.

I'm assuming we're going to go with something impromptu and easy, rather than arranging ahead of time for a table for what looks like what, four? Maybe five? Or should we designate ahead?

Also important, what TIME people? Afternoon? Evening? I can make it whenever.

Hmmm, it's a Saturday....so can't say I have work to do. Don't have a time set, but it's NYC baby! The City never sleeps.

But I'm in Boston, so it's a 4 hour drive. Yes, I drive that fast. So do you.

Put me down as a maybe.

I can't make it, there's too much stuff going on this summer.. wrapped up with my pending nuptuals ().!!

Of course this had to happen after I moved from New Jersey to California right? :/

I'm in Central NJ and might be able to make the 21st.

I'm in for the afternoon.

I'm still in, just.... quiet lately.

Well I'm definately in now. I have to drop some people off at LGA at 6.30am so anytime after that works for me :P.

Okay, so let's say 4:00 PM? Does that sound good to everyone? And again, do we want to make reservations or what?

Have fun folks. Robear, myself and the Cub aren't heading north then due to the cubs injury. Maybe next time we can catch some of you folks.

You can send Robear alone as a delegate.

I may or may not be able to make this one. We are finally giving in and making our 'might as well be married' situation official on the fourteenth; funds are short so we are going to go with a pseud-honeymoon and we may or may not be back in town by the 21st.

I have yet to try Dave and Busters in Times Square, but if for any reason that doesn't work out, ESPNZone is quite a bit of fun too. We spent part of my bachelor party there; the third floor is the arcade. All of the games have cup holders, and there is something rather nifty about playing racing games while downing a few over-priced beers.

on the fence but only holding onto it with my pinky... I'd love to make it! will keep my eye on this forum for absolute time.

Still coming and looking forward to it, although saddened by the loss of Robear & friends.

D-Day Cometh.

Okay, so here's the plan.

We're going informal. 4:00 PM, Dave & Buster's, no premade reservations then. I'll try to show up at 3:30-3:45 and take a table for "Goodjer", which will get me some wonderful looks from the waitstaff, i'm sure.

We Oscar Kilo on all this?

Hm... to go or not to go.. I have the weekend free.

I, too, was contemplating this, though considering how close I was to my freak-out threshold at the D&B in a suburban mall, I'm not sure how good an idea that is.

I will ask the Beauteous One if she is interested; if Broadway is involved, that'd seal the deal. Plus I'm sure you'd rather see a Hyundai dangled in front of NYC's maniacal car-rapists than the Beemer.

Haha, yeah. Taking Hans up to the big city may scare him, which is the big reason why I was hesitant to go. I didn't want to walk into a gas station for a soda, then come out three seconds later with nothing left but my school books and three pennies that were in my ash tray.

I'll pay for gas if you drive.

Pred, do you have a pic of yourself in the pics thread, to identify you by?

Erm, no. Expect a black guy, 5'9", wearing a Yankees hat and a Soviet era Vladislav Tretiak jersey.
