GWJ-ATX 2013: Third Monday Movies

I say move it back a week.

Well if everyone isn't chomping at the bit to rush out and see it opening weekend, I'm perfectly fine with waiting a week... or doing something else entirely. What say you all?

I'm good with 6/16.

Also, Flix has that group seating like southwest. If you buy the tickets early, you get Group A. I've only been on dead nights where is doesn't matter, so I'm not exactly sure HOW it works. Just some buddies told me how awesome it is. You can sit and drink instead of standing in line for an hour.

I asked last time I was there. Basically, it's groups of 30 in order of ticket purchase... so when they go on sale, if you know you're in, grab your ticket. Today, tickets are on sale through 6/14 so I'm guessing that 6/16 will be available on Tuesday.

Based on current times, 3D is at 4:00 and 10:15 while 2D is at 7:15. My personal preference is 2D but I could do 3D is that's the will of the group.

Note: Drafthouse doesn't have times for Prometheus posted beyond 6/8 yet so I'm not sure what they're offerings will be.

The 16th could work for me; I would need to crash at someones place after the movie though.

I'm in for the 16th. TigerBill, if we weren't staying in a hotel due to mold in our house, I'd put you up.

Is someone going to buy the tickets, then we give them the cash, or is everyone going to try to buy tickets at the same time?

For the record, still no tickets on sale beyond 6/14.

I'm willing to take a very few advance orders from folks who can guarantee your commitment. Other than that, I suggest everyone just buy their tickets as early as possible. As I mentioned, they load the theater in groups of 30 so as long as we can get a quorum of folks in that first group, it shouldn't be too hard space out in such a way as to guarantee everyone gets in.

Prometheus tickets are up. We looking at the 7:15 2D? or 10:20 3d?

There wasn't a whole lot of opinion when I mentioned it on 6/3 but I'm not a big fan of 3D myself. Given that I'll be getting up at 5am on Saturday already, I'm going to go with the 7:15 show.

Edit: Ticket purchased. Remember that Flix seat in priority groups (like Southwest) so the earlier you purchase, the more likely you are to get into group 1.

Just bought mine.

Edit2: Convenient link to click for tickets. (Prometheus, 6/16, 7:15)

Thanks. So it will be just like my hotel room then. I apologize in advance for any snoring.

Ticket purchased.

What time are we meeting up?

Since most of us are in A, there isn't a rush. But there is a place to sit and relax w/ drinks prior to the movie. I'm thinking an hour or so before. 6-6:15?

That's about what I was planning for.

I have a soccer game from 4:40 until 5:25. Then I'll hurry home, get cleaned up, and head to Flix. I'm targetting 6:15 but may be a little later than that. I recommend their 12-day Scottish Ale.

I will be tall. Probably drinking.

Heading out now see ya'll in 3hrs.

Excellent choice.

I'll be tallish(a mere 6'2"), drinking as well.

Good times gents, can't wait till next month.

July: It occurs to me that today is July 2nd and I haven't given this month's meetup any thought. Thoughts?

Ideas.

Dave & Busters.
Bowling.

Seems a bit expensive though.

http://tekrepublik.net/
Old school lan party without hauling your gear(at one point he allowed BYOB, but I wasn't the coordinator of that party. Could ask)

http://www.redsguns.com/range.html or http://www.eaglepeakshootingrange.co...
Shoot some stuff. Expensive

Sadly, I might be just the idea guy this round, our July is booked fairly solid with various family vacations and visits. A long lunch during the workday could be an idea as well.

I like any of these ideas. I definitely like the shooting ones.

Bowling.......meh. While I will go bowling, I personally can't stand doing it anymore; I used to repair lanes at my university and had to bowl way too much to diagnose problems.

Karting.

I wish to be able to use all of my Days of Thunder quotes in context.
Expect me to yell rubbin' is racin' at least 3 times.

We can get a race package if we can get at least 8 people to commit. Maybe for August.

As for July, it'll definitely be one of the last two weekends of the month (7/21 or 7/28). Put your two cents in now.
