GWJ-ATX 2013: Third Monday Movies

This sounds great, but I am running a half marathon the next morning.

Hope to get to the next one.

Ticket ordered.

I'm in.

Edit2: Still taking nominations for where to meet.

Oh that reminds me. DO NOT GO TO JACKELOPE. I have friends/friends of friends that have worked there and the stories are absolutely disgusting. Do not eat anything there.

Tickets are now on sale. (Be sure to change the date in the drop-down.) General admission, Sat 28 Jan 7:00PM

Edit: Got mine so hopefully some of y'all will join me.

Edit2: Still taking nominations for where to meet.

I'm pretty sure you've described just about any and every kitchen withing a couple blocks of 6th Street. For the record (though I impugning your friends' stories) I've eaten there a handful of times (as in 4 or 5) to no ill effect.

Nevertheless, I'm totally open to suggestions.

Yeah, unfortunately I've eaten there a few times myself. You're probably right but Jackelope does tend to hire a higher (ha!) percentage of complete burnout scumbags than most bars in the area.

I can't go but why not Casino El Camino? Supposed to be amazing burgers.

Got mine.

Man, I HATE not being in Austin!!

I hope you all have fun. The one time I went, it was a blast and my face still hurts from the laughing.

At least, I think that's why my face hurts..

Got 2 tickets for me and Mrs. Brainz

Edited for typing under the influence of multitasking.

Best way to coordinate via mobile? SMS? G+?

I like the g+ option. But we'd need to make sure all have a smart phone.

Updated the OP with the list of attendees. If you don't see your name up there, drop me a line so we know to look for you/save you a seat.

Can't make any promises on the G+ thing. I mean, I've got the smart phone and all but don't have G+ set to run all the time. SMS is tried and true.

Edit: Will probably be out carousing this evening. Will try to swing by east 6th and scout out the options with an eye for accommodating us (as opposed to looking with an eye for co-eds ).

My phone is pretty dumb... Not sure what I can offer there, but I'll figure out something.

Even dumb phones do SMS (texting), yes? That's another factor in favor of just trading phone numbers.

Sad that beluga got shut down.

No... no, my phone is really dumb. Well, probably my phone plan in this case, but hey, it is dirt cheap, and 99% of the time being immune to texting is a positive in my book. This is one of the 1% though. Still, a quick phone call always works.

GroupMe is even better than Beluga was, and like Beluga, works with plain ol' SMS.

I moved to GroupMe after Beluga was bought, and I'm very happy with it.

A GWJ Austin GroupMe message group might be a good solution to the problem.

Oh, small note for anyone who hasn't actually been to a Master Pancake before: we probably should get there almost an hour before showtime if we want seats together. Since they almost always sell out, the lines to enter the theater for them tend to form very quick and heavy, and my friends and I have had trouble getting 8-ish seats in a row in the past if we were even 30-40 minutes before the show.

Of course, other times, we get there the prescribed 50-60 minutes early and are the first ones there. Our mileage may vary.

Agreed. I'm going to try to be at around 5pm and then leave there at 6pm to head to the Alamo. Certainly we can hold a seat or a spot in line - maybe two - but there's not for eight.

Speaking of which, we stayed on S. Congress tonight so I didn't get to do any scouting. I'm still open to suggestions on where to meet.

Edit: Just checked and the 7pm show is sold out (11 days in advance)

A happy hour trip to Lovejoy's is currently scheduled for this evening. Will try to do some location scouting. Don't forget to PM me if you want my mobile number.

I don't think we'll be available to make it early enough to get to Buffalo Billiards, but we'll definitely be there to hold spots in line. I'll be the guy in Aggie gear with the hot wife.

It's relatively generic and lacking in character, but it's got plenty of space and is fairly well lit. What am I talking about? Buffalo Billiards. I plan to be there around 5:30 to anchor the group-gathering and, with a group this size, we should head over to the line-standing around 6. I'll post again when I figure out what I'm wearing.

I'll wear my Keyboard Cat Moon shirt. Trust me, you can't miss it. I've never in my life owned any other piece of clothing that gets so many comments.

About to head out; I've got to run some errands on the way. For ease of sighting, I've decided to put on the brightest shirt I own (that I'll still wear in public) so look for the guy in a mountain-dew green button-down.

Again, Buffalo Billiards around 5:30 and walking to the Ritz at 6.

See you folks about 6:00. We're about to head out to drop off the kiddos.

I'll be at the Ritz close to 6.
