I think you downloaded the wrong Shang Chi

What was the second best?
I go back and forth between Fury Road or 2 at #1 and #2. Both legitimately changed the game.

Wong dammit. Can't blame the autocorrect, just my dumb brain.
Yup, Furiosa was fantastic. Gonna rewatch Fury Road this weekend, and will probably buy the Furiosa 4K bluray on day one.
Like everyone else, watching Furiosa made us want to rewatch Fury Road in 4K Dolby Vision etc. Obviously, it absolutely holds up. The whole sandstorm sequence is just beautiful, and the climax feels as pulse pounding and unrelenting as ever.
Watching Fury Road again today. I think what make is so much better than Furiosa is how slow it is. Shots linger, things develop slowly. The war rig leaving the citadel, the platform being raised, etc. It just feels so much more ...epic.
27 minutes in and they ride into the storm....nothing in Furiosa comes close to that. Just incredible.
Great reminders that I've never watched Fury Road and that I need to remedy that...
The scope of Furiosa is so much bigger than Fury Road. Furiosa takes place over ~20 years. The events of Fury Road are done inside of 2 days.
It's no surprise that Furiosa feels less compact and more spaced out than the non-stop GO GO GO GO GO action of Fury Road - there's so much more character growth they have to get through for the story to make sense.
what you call character growth I found to be bloat. I don't need to know Rictus Erectus took Furiosa to his private room. I don't need to know about Scrotus, he has no character development he is just there because it seemed neat.
Here to contribute to the general consensus:
Furiosa: It's good! Takes more time paced out as a revenge thriller than the no-holds-barred-adrenaline-fueled-thrill-ride that is Fury Road, but the action setpieces it brings to the table hit like a TKO. The bits of wasteland political intrigue we get were enjoyed by me.
Add in that IMAX picture & sound and I was having a rip-roaringly good time. The dangling metal-shredding war bards were sorely missed in the soundtrack, but it wouldn't have fit the tone.
Def. rewatch Fury Road beforehand if you can, you'll benefit from it tremendously.
Last note: Shoutout to the trailer for Twisters that played before the flick, what a trash-tornado-fire of a film, looks dumb as hell, had a great time heckling that trailer.
Saw Furiosa in IMAX. First time in a theater in 4.5 years. Loved it. It was everything I wanted in a Fury Road prequel.
Saw Hit Man. It's very, very good. The kind of sexy rom-com/thriller that feels exceedingly rare nowadays. Glen Powell and Adria Arjona are excellent, and have fantastic chemistry.
This looks interesting. I generally like Hugh Grant as a baddie.
Saw Mars Express. A French Ghost in the Shell but much less contemplative. It follows 2 detectives in a homicide case in, you guessed it, Mars. It really makes the most of its short less than 1h30min runtime. Give it a whirl if this kind of thing interests you.

Can't wait to see it.
Inside Out 2 is outstanding. It made me cry, just like the first one did. Damn it.
There was a Moana 2 trailer before the feature, and HOLY CRAP does it look amazing. The environments and objects are hyper-realistic, while the people are still stylized while still looking like they belong in that world. Amazing.
There was also a trailer for Harold and the Purple Crayon, which was one of my absolute favorite books as a tyke.
I enjoyed the Quiet Place Day One.
Note, I have not seen either of the other 2 Quiet Place movies.
Lupita Nyongo and the guy from Stranger Things are terrific actors!
Twisters is not a legacy sequel, but more like a soft reboot of sorts. It's a good spin on the original story and character dynamics, but it doesn't dwell on the pathos of the subject matter nor manage to make it as personal as the original did. I can't say if that's a failing or a relief.
I saw Kneecap last night at a film festival. Really fun fictionalised retelling of the Belfast hip hop group’s origin story. Note: Packed with irreverence, drugs, swearing.
I found the Borderlands movie to be a perfectly cromulent video game movie. Critics have savaged it, but it's not all that bad. Obviously it suffers in comparison to things like The Last of Us and the Fallout series, because those are TV series with enough time to develop characters. Borderlands is a straight up action movie, with about as much story as your average single player shooter. I went in looking for a loud, dumb, colorful movie, and that's exactly what I got.
The cast is quite good. Cate Blanchett is of course magnificent, but Kevin Hart surprised me by not being over-the-top and mugging all the time and chewing scenery like he does in his comedic roles. Ariana Greenblatt is pretty good in this, too. And Jack Black is a perfect casting choice for CL4P-TP. I didn't even recognize Gina Gershon.

Do you listen to The Filmcast by any chance?
The thing that baffles me is that this was released but that Batwoman film done by WB was buried for tax purposes or some other bookkeeping nonsense.
I just don't think I understand accounting at the billion dollar level.

No, did they say something similar?
BTW, I’m really looking forward to the Honest Trailer and the Pitch Meeting videos on Borderlands.

They usually refer to movies as "perfectly cromulent movies." I know they didn't come up with the phrase, but they've been using it more than usual lately, so it got me thinking.
Borderlands is currently at 9% on Rotten Tomatoes (50% audience score).
Currently watching Dracula (1958) obviously stagey and aged but Peter Cushing is still amazing.
Frequency illusion or Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon, maybe? People have been using "perfectly cromulent [ thing ]" when they want to humorously say something is fine but not necessarily good ever since the Simpsons made up the word.

Yeah, I had a feeling the audience score would be better. This is not the kind of movie that critics enjoy or recommend. In fact, the biggest complaint is that it is like watching someone play a video game. With the popularity of game streaming, I don't think that's as much of a negative as they mean for it to be.
Watched Longlegs. It's not the scariest movie of the year, despite what the marketing would tell you, but it is really effectively creepy. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Hell, I was basically in from the first frame.
