GW2 WvW Group

Post here if interested in coordinated WvW through GWJ on Northern Shiverpeaks.

I am thinking 1-2 nights a week. I am willing to lead everyone to their deaths if there's interest. I have a lot of experience in killing wave after wave of my own men (and women). I am willing to grab a commander tome if we have the people. We would focus on jumping puzzles for siege, supply camp harassment, siege golem rushes, and potentially taking keeps for the glory of the GWJ octopus.

No level requirements. No voice chat requirements (although GWJ Vent or Mumble would be handy and I will be using it). Just a willingness to have fun!

I dabble in WvW. I'm not sure it's worth getting a commanders helmet, but I'd be happy to run around with you for a bit. I'm usually on around 7-9pm EST.

I dont know how much I'll end up joining in, I like my WvW in very small doses, but you are welcome to use any of the guild's researched WvW upgrades to support your missions.

Count me in, just got my 3rd rank6 this morning =)

I highly recommend ppl use voice chat as much as possible... by the time you've typed out your warning, it's usually too late.

Based on the few times we've had a small guild group going I also recommend that one person acts as squad leader and everyone else follows them no matter what. It's way too easy to get scattered and/or start splitting off without really noticing that half the group went the other way or that someone stayed behind to fight only to have been abandoned.

constantly maintaining squad integrity is the biggest challenge/headache, the actual battles and objectives are easy-peasy after that

If I happen to be available when this happens you can count me in.

I'm in too.

I used to be pretty heavily into WvW but sort of fell off for the last few months for some reason. If my playtime lines up I'm totes down for group WvW though.

I've only dipped my toes into WvW, but I've been wanting to get into it some more lately, so count me in.

Count me in. +1 on the squad leader suggestion. A little organization goes a long way.

Let's try to get a group going tonight after the guild mission(s)

Edit: Guild Activities/Merits at 10pm EST According to Tyops

I am also getting in contact with OS. They are the largest WvW guild NS has. I was going to check their schedule to coordinate WvW pushes/rushes and to get some point and strategy tips.

I avoid Os like the plague, their leadership is incredibly immature and trolly. Also, while they have the numbers, they are simply not that great at strategy.

EL and TFG would be better allies to cultivate.

Though I have seen a good commander or two from them, they are at time arrogant and mouthy, at times silent, not letting others know what they are doing. They rely on their numbers more than strategy.

I would rather we focus on small group things than running with a large zerg when we are together.

For small group exercises, a commander would not be a proper application. They are mostly reserved for managing zergs. I've done a lot of small group content and prefer the zerg myself. Small groups are effective at harassment, but zergs move the server rank. I am going to focus on helping get NS out of the bottom two tiers if I can.

Welp, held a tower for the OctoGear for over an hour, no one showed up to help.

When was this?

But individual contribution does not matter in a zerg, and any contribution we could make to one would be very close to 0 given the numbers we can turn out at one time. I care more about having fun and actually feel like I am doing something other than getting a lick or two in on some zerged player or shooting at a door for 5 min.

The server will rise or fall regardless of what we do, we should just have fun. Our rankings have as much to do with how many we can muster during working hours and sleeping time, and other issues that are completely out of our control. 5+ people running in a larger zerg will not change that.

I would rather take my necro and one man a supply depot than follow a zerg. Atleast then I actually had some challenge and substantive action.

Right after the guild mission, tyops mentioned it when he signed off and i stated which zone I was in and that I had just claimed the tower. I didn't push at the time because I assumed ppl were merching and such after the missions but it seems like everyone just went on to chain the world bosses.

As for group size and roam vs zerg.. I agree that just following a zerg around as it does a circuit around the map feels very hollow.. it's good if you just want to farm the points but I never feel like I'm having an impact. That being said, WvW play tends to be pretty organic and sometimes you get swept up in a zerg and that's fine, I also like defending against a big group.

The thing is, as our own unit, the bigger/better our squad is, the more options we have at any given time as to what we can do.

GoldenDog: I know that duckideva also loves to run with the zerg so she's probably who you want to look out for

I have a private squad of about 6-7. Them plus a GWJ group of another 7 would make 14. That would be enough to go after keeps, assuming the group sticks to Gorilla Tactics.

Wednesday nights aren't as good for me as Thursday through Saturday. I got the whole East Coast and work in the morning thing going on

The guild activities were great fun, but they pushed me to bed time.

I played around as a commander last week and here are some commands:

"/squadjoin commandername" Join a Squad
"/squadleave commandername" Leave a Squad
"/squad" Type in Squad Chat

This is handy for commanders. They then have:

"/squadinfo" Displays who is in the squad and the supply they have
"/supplyinfo" Displays characters near you and what supply they have

If you're trailing a commander in WvW, you would do them great help to join their squad.

FYI:

"Greetings WvW players!
We’ve been working hard at finding a solution to the problem of setting up separate reset times for the European and North American regions and I’m happy to say we’ve accomplished it! Starting next matchup and going forward the North American WvW matchup will reset Friday at 9:00 PM EST and the European matchup will reset at 19:00 GMT. It’s our hope that this will make for a better experience for everyone.
Cheers!
Devon Carver"
