This is a smidge political, but I found it more interesting because of the comments talking about the post-government history of the royal houses. Also it's on my mind because I've been playing a lot of Crusader Kings.

Both the Bourbon and Orléans pretenders to the French throne are backing the gilets jaunes protesters, at least to some degree.

Also, as an American, the idea of discarded royals still hanging around trying to be relevant is just a bit amusing.

Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure your current profile pic is going to give me nightmares.

You just had to point it out for those of us that hadn't noticed, didn't you?

'Robot' at Russian tech show turns out to be man in suit

A contraption presented by Russian state television as a high-tech robot was in fact a man in a commercially available robot costume, Russian media has reported.

The footage was shot at a high-tech show in the city of Yaroslavl that opened on Tuesday, featuring "Boris the Robot". Forum organisers used Boris to enliven the event, having him dance to a pop song — but never claimed the robot was real.

A crew for Russian state television apparently thought he was, and used footage of him dancing and speaking as an example of Russian technological prowess.

I assume the drop bears are captured in the ‘other mammal’ category?

Why are “humans” not on that list?

Because Australia has intelligent gun laws, probably....

Oh, don't discount Australian ingenuity...

If anything, they need stricter boomerang control laws.

The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a boomerang is that same boomerang coming back and hitting him in the head.

Is that a gun attached to a boomerang or a gun that fires boomerangs?

Either way I look forward to its inclusion in the next Final Fantasy game.

FTFY.

It's a gun that when you throw it at Superman and he ducks, it comes back and whacks him in the back of the head.

The neutrinos have mutated!

No, seriously, the movie 2012 was right (well, about the existence of neutrino mutation at least) and Dara O'Briain was wrong. Apparently neutrinos mutate, and the article describes an experiment that suggests antineutrinos might mutate differently.

Gotta watch me some Dara O'Briain over the holidays...

So Gatwick airport closed down because of drones in the airspace. After a couple of days of chaos and flights being directed to other airports, the drone was driven off and a couple of people brought in for questioning. Except they then released the suspects because they arrested the wrong people. And there may not have been a drone in the first place.

So where's Britain's version of Area 51?
