Post a news story, entertain me!

In other news, there was a company still manufacturing VCRs in 2016.

Not only that, but 750 thousand VCRs were sold in 2015.

Their VCRs are made in China and sold in many territories, including North America, under brand names like Sanyo, but last year’s figures reported just 750,000 sales worldwide.

Probably to convert VHS to DVD?

This really isn't entertaining, more of a "you have got to be kidding me..."

Court says ‘upskirting’ is not a crime in Georgia

But in a recent decision, the state Court of Appeals threw out Gary’s conviction, finding that no law in Georgia criminalizes such “reprehensible” conduct and saying the Legislature needs to fix that problem.

I can see no one ever putting a law on the books for something like that specifically as I would hope it is not common enough to be a large issue, and in theory it would be already covered by some other law so that people could be prosecuted for general horrible harassment.

I require a VCR to be able to watch Rad, which was never released on DVD. I assume there are 749,999 people that need one for the same reason.

Several state's have already done just that, and more are in the process of making it explicitly illegal.

The X-treme cycling movie?

Besides, she should have been flattered to get the attention.

I can't believe that doesn't fall under some kind of general harassment statute. The fact that we need a specific law against it is ridiculous.

You would think that the same laws that apply to peeping Tom type situations would apply here.

It wasn't in Mass until recently. States are beginning to discover these loopholes and fix them...

Is using the spoon in a giant bowl of Kix as a ramp X-treme? If so, then yes.

Kudos for the author for this line, which made me chuckle:

Spoiler:

Next week in bizarre band products: the Anthrax "State of Euphoria" c*ck ring and Sepultura's "Refuse/Resist" butt-plug.

Woah woah woah.

A. Not a sorcerer. Death Knight, formerly a Paladin.

B. Thaaaaaaaaat is a weird choice for a country where that raid tier was censored to hell. Literally, you could not go anywhere in that zone without an example of Chinese censorship.

You're thinking mainland China. Taiwan isn't usually censored.

There was Chinese censorship in Taiwan?

Edwin and I are on the same page.

Demosthenes doesn't recognize the independence of the renegade province.

At least he recognizes the difference between a sorcerer and a death knight, I'd say that counts more.

Follow-up list:

A. I suck at geography.

B. The censorship was more cultural, not political, so I prooooooobably would have thought that counted either way... specifically regarding respect for the dead, thus no bones or corpses shown, generally.

C. Now I'm not sure if Taiwan has its own servers or not. Having servers for China and other servers for Taiwan seems impractical... but prooooooobably something a company would want to do to tap into China's market either way.

D. Further reflection, half of the Lich King is Arthas who was Paladin/Death Knight, but the other half was Nerzhul, who was a Shaman then Warlock, and that... could be sorcerer-ish, I suppose.

Florida Confirms First Locally Transmitted Zika

Florida’s governor on Friday reported the first evidence of local Zika virus transmission in the continental United States, saying testing of four residents showed they were likely infected by mosquito bites.

I am not entertained.

Yeah... I think we need a "Post a new story, something I should know!" thread for these unentertaining things.

Do we need to take this to the "Post a news story, argue with me" thread?

The most unrealistic thing about this whole thing was expecting an American in the midwest to know geography.

"Post a news story that you want to share but that isn't funny, horrible, or likely to set off one of the P&C regulars"

We have a "Horrible News Stories" thread. Zika fits in there.
