2013 GWJ Fantasy Baseball League Catch-All

Your negative curse worked.

Oi, I give up.

Pitching line from yesterday:

IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/RxkQLZH.png)

Zero wins and Zero saves.

Not to mention Homer Bailey's line from Tuesday: 8.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 10 strikeouts...and he didn't get the win!!!

Well, only 1 of your RPs that pitched yesterday has the closer role, and Wilhelmsen didn't come into the game in a save situation.

I don't want to hear it either, in my money league, not only do I have Scherzer and Bailey, I have Shelby Miller and Wade Miley. Miley got 3 runs charged to him, but left the game only allowing 1 run with a 3-1 lead, and the bullpen sucked. Also, you were not forced to bench a RP (in my case, I missed out on Wilhelmsen's 2 brilliant innings because I thought I had a better chance with a save with Papelbon, man was I wrong) to start Shelby Miller.

3 starts for Shelby Miller, still no SP eligibility. But that's ok ESPN, keep allowing Chapman to have that SP eligibility without a career start!!!!!

Wow.. just getting clobbered. Time to make some more tweaks.

My 0 move strategy is finally beginning to fail.

I see shag has chosen to take his chances with Marmol. Good luck!

My micromanaging over the last week has cost me 17k from Anibal Sanchez and multiple RBIs from my Catchers.

Also, someone sent me a trade request while I was on vacation, but now I can't find it. I know it expired, but is there a trade request history anywhere?

IIRC, only completed trades are recorded. Uncompleted ones are deleted when the deadline expires.

Marmol goes through stretches. I think I have him on an uptick. When he starts to fail, I will drop him immediately.

It should send you an email with the offer as well, unless you turned that off...

I received the email, but mistakenly deleted it with a group of emails following my vacation. I was just curious if there was an offer history on ESPN. I also wanted to acknowledge that I did at least receive the offer and I wasn't just ignoring it. I wouldn't have accepted it anyway, if that matters at this point.

Well, my team decided to come alive at the right moment. I think I was 0-9-1 vs Shag on Friday, managed to turn that around and take a 6-3-1 record from him this week. My pitching was horrible this week as I got crushed in the Wins, ERA and WHIP categories.

I made a lot of roster moves this weekend, going from 3-7 Saturday morning to finishing 7-2-1. I got some big help from my pitchers, picking up 4 wins yesterday (2 from RP).

From 2-8 two weeks ago to 10-0 last week... my team is fickle. I gotta say though, I did not expect Starling Marte to be this good when I drafted him.

I've had a good couple of weeks. Can't say my team is exceptionally good at anything but the balance seems to work for me.

Shin-Soo Choo, who knew?

I thought my pitching would be a little bit better than it has been the past few weeks. There never does seem to be anyone worth picking up on the free agent market, either. Hey, at least I didn't get completely skunked last week

I should have called my team Jekyll and Hyde. Every time it looks like I will score well they fall apart on the weekend and when they have a slow week they come alive and score well.

Also if anybody needs a star player injured feel free to trade them to me between motte, greinke and Ramirez (really less than a week and your back on the DL) I'm getting a bit of a talent for it.

OK, question for the group:

Money league, I have Justin Morneau in my Utility spot. Eric Hosmer was just dropped, and I have middle waiver priority, so there's a decent chance I could get him, since half of the higher owners really don't make moves. Do I drop Morneau to get Hosmer, or stick with Morneau. It's a really tough call, since if Hosmer goes nuts, he could be one of my keepers. If he doesn't and Morneau stays consistant, I've weakened my team.

What are the chances of another coach grabbing Morneau? his ownership on ESPN has fallen to 56% and has been dropping steadily for over a week. Also, as someone who owns him (in this league) I consider his performance so far to be average.

Personally, I'd roll the dice on Hosmer. If you don't like what you're seeing, chances are you can switch back.

Speaking of Hosmer, I have him in our league. If you want him, make a reasonable offer, I'm getting tired of waiting on him.

I didn't even think about it from that aspect. A good guy to follow on Twitter is Ray Flowers from SiriusXM's afternoon drive (@Baseballguys). I posed my question on Twitter yesterday morning and he answered it by the time I left work. His response was to go get Hosmer. He definitely knows his sh*t, he's the reason I own Scherzer in 2 of my 3 leagues. I waited 1 round too late to get him in this league (damn you FSeven!!!!)

Yeah, well I have BJ Upton, who absolutely trumps Hosmer. The sad thing is, I have him in this league AND the money league. Hosmer & Upton will eventually heat up, I'm just surprised that this is the 2nd time someone's dropped Hosmer in the money league.

BTW, I made a trade in my money league last week, Shag seems to think I got worse, but I feel that I improved my team:

Jon Lester and Alex Gordon for Alcides Escobar and Clayton Kershaw

I really kept plugging different SS into my lineup since Opening day, it gave me someone solid to start every day. I understand that Alex Gordon is probably a keeper for next year, but Clayton Kershaw is a 1st round keeper and the best pitcher in baseball. Both Lester and Kershaw have not won a game since the trade, but Lester has 1 QS (which is a category in our league) and has given up 8 ERs in that stretch. Kershaw has 2 QS while giving up 2 ERs. Unfortunately, both were NDs. Can't blame him last night, Wade Miley was very good as well and lasted long enough to earn the win.

Sounds like a good deal to me. You came out with the best SP in the game plus filled a need at SS.

Homerun #1 for Hosmer yesterday, as well as a very good day at the plate.

Today, I am the proud owner of Hosmer in my money league, he cleared waivers in front of me and I was able to claim him.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I think Shag is jealous because he has Verlander and now I have a pitcher to rival him. I really like my money league team, and mind you, this is an expansion team, the 10 teams already in the league were able to protect their 5 keepers before the expansion teams got to pick:

C-Miguel Montero (Waivers)
1b-Anthony Rizzo
2b-Chase Utley
SS-Alcides Escobar (Trade)
3b-Kyle Seager
OF-Adam Jones (Expansion Pick, traded draft picks to acquire)
OF-Yoenis Cespedes (Expansion Pick)
OF-Allen Craig (Expansion Pick)
OF-Daniel Nava (Waivers)
Util-Eric Hosmer (Waivers)
Util-Nolan Arenado (Waivers)
Bench-BJ Upton (Expansion Pick)

SP-Clayton Kershaw (Trade)
SP-Max Scherzer
SP-Zach Greinke (Expansion Pick, Coming back Wed if rehab start goes well)
SP-Shelby Miller
SP-Wade Miley
RP-Jonathan Papelbon
RP-Tom Wilhelmsen
Bench-Homer Bailey
Bench-Andrew Cashner
Bench-Jose Fernandez
DL-Alex Rodriguez

There's only 3 bench spots, and Greinke is on my DL, but I had to highlight him as a SP. I will have to drop either Cashner or Fernandez, but I will most likely drop both because it gives me flexibility to pick up a random player during the week. Problem is that someone should pick up one or both of them, I will more than likely drop Fernandez after his start today since Cashner makes a start this weekend.

I am not jealous. You know my philosophy when it comes to our money league. I am sitting at .500 in the league and most of my big players haven't done anything yet. We will see how tings stack up a month or two from now.

Second week in a row I've made Sunday morning FA pitching moves to salvage the week. This time to finish 5-4-1. Also broke the SB tie today with a steal from (catcher!) John Buck.

I was watching the game. It was a sight to see. Even in real time it looked like a slow motion replay.

I know how you think, and that's why I can't understand why you didn't like my trade. Your philosophy is pitching wins championship, and I traded for one of the top two pitchers in baseball.

Also to note, Hosmer is waiting to remind you why it was a bad idea to drop him.

Not worried about Hosmer. 3 for 19 since you picked him up. I just was busting your jabs about the trade.
