PAX East 2013!

padriec, you're bringing a baby? I'd love to hear about how that experience is. My wife is pregnant with our first and I keep wondering if this'll be our last PAX because it'll be too hard to deal with an infant.

Haha this is like a time loop. Last year padriec said the same thing to me as my wife and I were there with our 7 month old and his was prego with their now beautiful daughter.

This fills me with hope.

And this is the first year I'm going to PAX to not work and just play games. My ass is goign to wear a fraking hole in a plastic tabletop chair if I can help it.

I will definitely post our impressions of PAX with a baby. She'll be 6 months on Friday so she's still fairly immobile. Next year we're definitely leaving her at grandma's though; too many little pieces in tabletop that can find their way into her mouth.

Can't wait to spectate the Dune game!

Yeah last year when he was immobile was fine. My wife was not around as much as prior years and nap times were rough. We had a backpack that would stand up on it's own and act as a shorter high chair/containment area all at one time and that made it very workable. Remember strollers are not allowed on the show floor so plan accordingly. That being said the thought of bringing chasing my 18 month old around PAX sounds like a nightmare. In our talks about PAX we decided if we were to bring him Mrs. Mono would not be able to play any games really as she would be chasing him around the whole time and then have to leave early to put him down for bed and be done for the night so why pay for the extra airfare and ticket for her to just watch the little man when she could stay at home and do it better and cheaper? That option was little fun for her or me because we like to do things like this together so we opted to ditch the boy at his grandparents for the weekend.

I was just repacking it and other games to make them more plane friendly last night. I am excited.

Me too! I missed last year's game and I'm (incredibly) slowly working my way through novel #4 so I'm curious to see this in action, even though I'm not sure it would be my cup of tea.

I am guessing I will want to play more games of Dune then just the one so if others want to play Dune as well I am sure we will get more then one game in over the weekend.

Hey guys, can't wait to see you there! I found out recently that this: http://www.harpoonbrewery.com/news/5... is a 12 minute walk from the BCEC if anyone is interested.

That's just in the exhibit area, not tabletop, right?

We've confirmed someone will be flying the GWJer flag in tabletop, correct?

Yeah, it's only the expo hall.

Good, the only time I'll set foot there is maybe to drool over the GeekChic booth, and we have a frame backpack for that.

I believe several times. Last I heard oilypenguin was mailing it to Rabbit.

Two games surfaced this week that I'm suddenly really excited to go see on the show floor. What's on your "must see" list besides the indie mega booth?

I like the sense of humor to DiveKick, especially a bear named Redacted, but the game itself looks God awful.

Transistor, on the other hand, will definitely get a visit from me.

The top game on my radar at the moment, though, is Remember Me.

Shoptroll: Looks like I will not make the Thursday night dinner. Thanks for the offer.

I think that's the point.

This video drives it home a little better:

Last year's post-PAX music show at The Middle East must've been a hit because it looks like they're doing it again on Sunday @ 7 PM.

The Protomen, MC Frontalot and others will be playing.

EDIT:

Here's the Nintendo lineup. Also, they're selling Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon at the show.

I hope you all have fun without me this year.

It started as a joke but apparently it's turned out to be a very good game. Somehow it seems to have captured a major essential element in fighting games by boiling it down to a parody. Everyone I've seen on streams playing it has a blast. It's my only "must-play" in the indie booth.

The big companies: Nintendo, Square-Enix, Blizzard, and Ubisoft
The less big: Team Meat, Devolver Digital, Behemoth, Twisted Pixel, Double Fine/Capybara, Super Giant
The analogues: Fangamer, Stone Blade, Geek Chic, Chessex, and hopefully whoever we find is setup in tabletop (Plaid Hat, Rio Grande Games, etc.)

EDIT: Oooh, my alma mater has a booth!

Looks like I found my one item of swag. Preorder from Amazon canceled.

Sadly most of the items they'll have playable are already downloadable on eShop for the 3DS. Still, it'll be nice to get my hands on the Wii-U tablet for Wonderful 101 (maybe).

After posting this I watched Wakeup SRK with the Divekick creator/team lead. He announced new characters and a whole new "techniques" system that sounds like it'll add a surprising amount of depth to the thing. Still 2 buttons and no joystick. Still packed to the gills with fighting game community in-jokes. I'm super excited to finally try it nearly a year after the video psoplayer posted came out.

Transistor, on the other hand, will definitely get a visit from me.

Oh yes, this looks awesome!

I plan on having no fun whatsoever in your honor. Seriously though, you will be missed.

And someone needs to do a "come at me, bro" for him if Cosmic Encounter hits the table
