I only ask because I heard you had to get it tattooed. And yes, I have, but I'm not quite getting the link there...

It'll make more sense when you get to choose your tag.

I'm kinda afraid to post now!
So I only manage to get about 140 goodjers in there before I had to get some actual work done. But like I said, a work in progress.

Make sure you save all this data you collect. When I get home I'll check on how up to date my SPSS program is, and perhaps we could dovetail this in to an anonymous study of the GWJ community. It would be awesome to know the percentages and stats on GWJers. How many are married, who has kids and how many, what's the average GWJ age, what have kids, what's the average time spent playing video games, where do we live, favorite pokemon ice cream flavor, etc.

Waaaaaaant! Want Fairy Princess soooooo baaaaaad. :D

Sorry someone has already taken it.

Actually I thought you got Fairy Princess if you took too long deciding on your custom title.

I forget who it is, but I thought that someone actually did choose Fairy Princess.

Speaking of which is there a master list of chosen tags?

I believe Zedian and Zane Rocketfist are both tagged Fairy Princess.

Oh good, I was right. Zedian is tagged as Fairy Princess.

Don't worry, it only hurts for... well, you'll recover, anyway.

At least, most people do.

Oh cool, how appropriate I am user 666.

Looks like I dodged a bullet there.

Don't worry, you probably wont end up like me. I've been here for a while, 5 years 13 weeks apparently.

Someday I'll complete my ascension of the ranks. But I've never been a big post contributor. This was especially so before I found a way to the site that gets around the websense at work.

Tsk tsk... who can forget ZaneRockfist's tagging?

Yeah, I didn´t really post much either for a long time. Then, I got really drunk one night and came online to post. That bumped my post count afterwards, and thanks to that, the community opened to me even more. So I´ve been posting much more since that time, feeling the "ice" finally "broke".

The epidemiologist in me wants more dirty statistics talk.
I've made the spreadsheet available to whomever has the link. Still not sure if it really warrants its own thread, but maybe we want to stash this somewhere, I don't know. In any case, I keep finding users I haven't added every time I visit the threads I'm active in, so it's certainly not finished yet.

Aaaaand now I've completely derailed the thread.

I think data mining can lead to fun statistics.

Yes I did just type "fun statistics".

Pfft. Soon the Shawns will introduce the GWJ DLC, where for $15 you can jump to the next level, and for $100 you can steal someone's forum icon. Plus, has anyone else noticed that GWJ has an always-online requirement?! This is bullsh*t!

Well I am in the middle of teaching myself a new programming language...

Also, two evil Shawn Andrich's on one forum? That can't be good...This must be the worst timeline.

There's another kind of statistics?

Tiny update here, I've passed the 200 mark and things are a bit slower. I'm starting to run into users I thought I hadn't added, but actually already had. It's rather fun, though, reading everyone's tag, and trying to figure out the story behind it. I think one of my favorite's so far is Stauf7's "Invited the 7th Guest".
I did come across a user with a "fired" tag and a profile with an "access denied" message; I'm guessing that's someone that's been banned from the forums?
Anyhow, as always the spreadsheet is here, and comments/additions/suggestions are welcome.

This is a fantastic idea. Someone jump on it!!

Sure, I'll bite, how hard/long/tedious can it be?
(there's gotta be a database of all the members with that info in there, though, right?)

Edit: Sooooo... feeling decidedly depressed and despondent about my job, I started doing this. Which is very much a work in progress. Any questions?
Why is he/she on the list and not me? Because I haven't gotten around to adding you in yet.
How the heck are you doing this anyhow? For now, I'm just working my way through big, popular threads like "Random thing you love", "Random thing you loathe". Not a perfect solution, but it beats going through the profiles one by one (and the profiles themselves don't even show the tag, you'd have to look at one of the members' posts).
Why do I see a weird IP number where www.gamerswithjobs.com should be? Because that's the address I'm using to circumvent my workplace's metadata filter (GWJ's site is tagged as "game").
Does this deserve its own thread, maybe? Not sure. Never started a thread myself here, so I'm nervous. :D

I would really like to know what that weird IP address is, since my workplace does that same thing. But then again if I was to get on GWJ at work, absolutely nothing would get done.

Well, it's showing up right now on a few entries, since well, I'm at work, and the database I'm working on is compiling anyway. So up to you to find it and use it well, if you so choose. It really wasn't all that hard to find, it just showed up with Google.

Nearing the 250 mark.

Yeah I wasn't looking at all the entries. I got it and will have to get it out when I get into the office.

Hehe, that's okay. If (when??) I ever get to choose a tag, I'll probably pick something that goes with my avatar. Like "Nerf herder", or even "Padawan herder", or plain old "Jedi Knight", or whatever else strikes my fancy. So wait, the tags are permanent?

You'll get there. It took me about 3 years to get mine. I started off very much a lurker, and you are much more active than I ever was

I really don't feel all that active. I dabble in a few threads about the games I'm playing at the time, but really, not that much. And I've been trying to avoid the P&C forum, they scare me!
And it only seems that way because I post mostly when you guys are all asleep, so when you get up, bam! Tons of posts.

The GWJ Multiplayer Minecraft Server topic was what really got me up through those ranks. When you get to the end, you sort of get to pick your tag, but at the same time, you don't. People in the topic come up with a list of tags they think apply to you, and you pick the one that best fits. You can pick your own tag outright but we (jokingly) consider it to be poor taste.

You did that without RickRolling. I don't don't know whether to be proud or disappointed.

I second spider! That's almost disappointing, Tanstaafl!

Eleima and Manta173: You guys seem like stats types. Any interest in going forward with a study on Gamers With Jobs? I will need some help compiling data, checking math, and someone to act as a blind to keep things anonymous. PM me if this sounds fun, maybe we'll start another thread about it.

Well, that can be arranged.

I'm still trying to decide if you're serious or if you're teasing me. I definitely be up for something, work and family permitting, it's right up my alley.

Didn't we have something that everyone was dropping their locations onto?

I don't even remember going through Consultant!!! Please forgive me!

That would make only 8 stages, and for 1000 posts, that would be 125 posts per stage (provided all stages have equal weight, which isn't a given). I'm betting Coffee Grinder and Intern are bigger (like 200 posts each). Of course, this is all guesswork.

I've seen the required numbers, and they're not equally weighted. Can't tell you what they are, though. Old man Andrich would have my legs broke.

Perhaps one should be pre-broken, just in case you forget.
