Steam Winter Sale 2012 - Seriously Guys, It Was Over Two Months Ago! Move Along!

That trend was broken with CS:GO, so it's over. I don’t want CS:GO, though.

Damn, the time on TL2 is ticking away. I spent $10 on the "maybe I'll actually not be a scaredy cat and play it" Alan Wake, but can't bring myself to buy what was one of the most eagerly anticipated 2012 releases for me about a year ago.

Can someone enable me, please? I am currently searching for a Zen game (e.g. come home from work, brain off, clicking for 15-30 minuted, done) anyway.

Edit: In addition, I am giving away one copy each of the following games (just PM and Steam-friend me): Limbo, SpaceChem and The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom

NSMike recently commented that every game he votes for loses. Obviously, Matt doesn't want Mike to ruin it for him.

Hahahah, okie, thanks!

Why not? CS:GO is awesome, or close to it, at least. (It needs as_oilrig and cs_docks)

Wow! Magicka for $2.49 today. If I didn't already have it.

I'm stuck on this so far this morning. What is the quickest, easiest way to accomplish this feat?!

Hey folks, might I make a polite request and ask that folks (except for NSMike) vote for Krater in the next voting thingy? I've been eying that and hoping it would drop even further. Thanks! :)

FTFY. ;)

Me no get. :(

Voted for it

Thank you Elycion for the gift of Krater! Y'all can now vote for whatever ya want, unless it's still Krater, which is cool too.

Are you talking about a 4-pack? $7.50 each? I'm not enchanted with the first iteration, but I'm down for a stab at the second.

Does anyone know if there are going to be new dailies on 1/5, or does the sale end at 10AM PST on 1/5? I'm trying to figure out if I need to buy the things I wanted that never went on a daily or flash sale on Friday or if I can wait until Saturday.

So far I've seen posts elsewhere that seem to indicate 1/4 is the last actual full day of the sale.

Pretty sure it ends at 10AM PST tomorrow. In time for their normal weekend special.

They may have one more massive blowout at 10AM PST today, so you could probably wait until then.

Just got Awesomenauts and that is an appropriately named game! Fantastic MOBA.. might even be my favourite..

Any opinions out there on AVSEQ? It says its a puzzle game but it just looks like you click on everything fast and make potentially really annoying sounding music...

But it will go down in price even more! As we are all voting for it! lol

Aannnnddddd, sneaking in just before I finish work for the day is Veloxi with a fantastic gift of Dead Pixels! It's one of those games that I really like the look of, but it just never quite made it into the basket.

Thanks SO much!

Also interested. Is there a thread around here for this?

Well keep voting then!

Dude, enjoy, that game is soooo much fun! Really well made and well executed. I've been having a blast with it when I want something close to mindless.

I use Is There Any Deal for tracking this kind of thing.

I would only use that site if they emailed me when games go on sale that I mark, like appshopper and Steam do. I'm too lazy/busy to check such things frequently enough to be useful. I only know about Steam sales bc of GWJ podcast and despite listening for years, this is the first year I've ever gotten anything from them.

You receive an e-mail for anything on your waitlist going on sale. It actually has really good customization too, like only when this particular game goes on sale for lower than $5, and this other when it's under $30.

I just bought a 4-pack, due to the time running out. With Natus taking one for $7.50, there are two more copies not spoken for. Just PM me if you're interested.

Actually no. This was a pretty bogus move on Steam's part. Krater has been 75% off throughout the sale, they marked it back up to 66% off today when it went on a daily vote. The Collector's Edition which is still at 75% is the better deal anyhow.

Oh, really? That's kinda lame. :/

Opinions on Hotline: Miami? Considering it, but mainly on the merits of the screenshots rather than any information about this odd-looking top-down shooter. I do love old-school shooters...heck, Die Hard was my favorite NES game, and this looks somewhat similar, but I'm leery of spending $5 on a stinker.

(What have I become?)

You may have just enabled me on this... I'm going to bed to think about this and decide in the 'morning'.

Big huge thanks to Eleima for the gift of Botanicula.
I'm kinda feeling guilty about it thou; early on in the sale I was looking at picking it up for myself. While on the page I noticed that Eleima had it in her wishlist and I told myself that if I do pick it up, I'll gift her a copy too.
Lo, I decided to wait till the end of the sale to get it and didn't gift it either. Later Eleima gets it as a gift so I can't do the same anymore but I'm happy she how gets to play it.
Then now she gifts it to me, as I still have it sitting in my wishlist.
So...yeah...sorry about that E.

I'm sorry, but that's about the most hilarious thing I've read/heard today. I'm just happy we all ended up with a copy, in the end, because that game is absolutely incredible, I really, really fell in love with it.

Yea; I feel the same. I think I've just gone so crazy on prior Steam sales that most of these aren't doing it for me. However; I go to other sites like Amazon, Good Old Games, or Green Man Gaming for either a better price point or some variety. I have lately rediscovered a joy of old DOS PC games playing with DosBox on my Asus Tablet.

Touch screen Master of Orion 2 anywhere I want... hard to argue with that kind of portable gaming.

I just got an Asus tablet for Christmas. Sounds like I need to look into DosBox for Android...

This has been a recent topic in the Android Games thread. I was having issues with the free app aDosBox due to lag and slowing. The application DoxBox Turbo is much better and is $3.50. You can then transfer games purchased on GoG that use DosBox support to play them.

http://www.gog.com/mix/games_using_dosbox

That's a list of the games available on GoG that use Dosbox. I have not heard of any having issues running on my original generation TF101 Asus Tablet.

From a sofa in Sweden on borrowed WiFi I send thanks to the redoubtable RubbEd for the gift of Bastion, Soundtrack edition. Once I get my hands on a computer again I shall rinse it proper.

What's up with this sales anti-Fallout agenda? I feel like Civ V has been on sale 10 times and Fallout 0 times.
