Steam Winter Sale 2012 - Seriously Guys, It Was Over Two Months Ago! Move Along!

Why oh why did I think it was a good idea to have steam notify me everytime a game on my wish list goes on sale. Why oh why

So we all voted for Quake? Right? RIGHT? I mean, come on, it's Quake!

I knew nothing about Doom 3: BFG Edition before today.

I played the hell out of Doom 1&2 in their day, but I never did get around to playing Doom3. My computer at the time it came out couldn't handle it. And although I've since bought it cheap during a previous Steam sale, Doom 3 sits untouched on my pile.

Are the new improvements and a "lost" chapter worth $15 and another look at the game?

Haven't played it myself, but it looks like PC gamers should stick to Doom 3 + mods.

Tamron - thank you very much for Trine 2 - hope you don't mind if I finish Trine 1 before I play it :)

Just as long as you finish both before Trine 3 goes on some Steam sale

Good to know. Thanks. Avoiding for now.

Thanks to tanstaafl for his gift of Prototype!

I shall absorb the memory of others in your name.

Now, I'm debating.. Secret World or Anno 2070 for myself.

I think I bought 3 games on Gog to cover for disks I had, the the season Pass for Borderlands2, and the remaining Dlcs for Port Royale 3 I was missing.

and 14 goodjers received some gifts from me to far. It's a nice sale.

You can get at GMG with 30% coupon for $10.50. And you can still mod it.

Only Doom3 Complete is 3.24 on steam... http://store.steampowered.com/sub/425/

Ugh, having a toss up about splurging and just grabbing Far Cry 3 since it's on sale. Or just waiting on it till summer. I've heard so many crazy things about it that I'm tempted...but after all the games I've added to the pile (and the ones that Grumpicus and Sr_Malo added for me, once again: Super Awesome Thanks for those fellow goodjers!) I can not, in a sound state of mind, bring myself to pull the trigger.

Personally, I think I'll just wait till the Summer Sale, when it will be much cheaper. And I think I can wait...

Maybe...

But come summer, we'll probably have some rumors about the new consoles and maybe Far Cry 3 will fade in memory...maybe buy it now just to have fun with it and blow the rest of my Steam budget....or wait....Oh, such a tough decision...

Quick, I need to jump back into FTL! Distract me, oh exploding spaceships!

Anno 2070 and Mark of the Ninja are on sale.. I was hoping I was done for this sale barring a few more random gifts..

STOP TEMPTING ME!!!

Thank you to Chumpy and 4dSwissCheese for Just Cause 2 and Far Cry 2! You guys are the best. My wife just had a baby the other day, and now I have a nice big pile of open world stuff to explore during his naps. As compared to both games, he has less malaria than Far Cry but bigger explosions than Just Cause. Thank you both so much!

Not Steam, but finally a price I'll bite at:

Hitman: Absolution is $19.99 (60% off) @ http://Amazon.com

I was going to pick up Gods & Kings from Greenman gaming today but it seems like my Bank still doesn't trust them. Frankly it's a bit ridiculous that every time I want to buy a game from there I have to contact my bank. /annoyed

Big thanks to Bonus Eruptus for the gift of BioShock 2! Now I'll finally ge to see how it stacks up to the original (take a drink everyone).

I put some thoughts on this game in its official thread. It's gotten a lot of bad reviews but I think it was really underrated for whatever that's worth. I thought it was worth full price, it's a damn steal for $20.

I've loved every single one, but I'm also one of the apparent weirdos who had a great time playing Mass Effect 3, so I think I'll enjoy it just fine.

You might have better luck if you pay through paypal.

You guys are killing me. I'm perfectly fine with the amount of games I still have to play. But I want more! moooooooooooooore!!!! Sales + this thread are going to be my downfall

EDIT: Far Cry 3 Deluxe Edition available from Direct2Play for $36.99 (Currently $44.99 on Steam and Amazon). From what I've been reading you need the Ubisoft player even if you buy it on Steam so it's the same as adding a Non-Steam game to your list. The key doesn't activate directly through Steam but it's a few bucks off so that's nice.

Many many thanks to 4dSwissCheese for Galactic Civilizations 2! I've been wanting to sink time into this for a long time! You are truly a multidimensional and holey man!

I'm having non-buyers remorse for not picking up Wargame: European Escalation yesterday for $10. Use this as a learning experience people, if something you want goes on sale, BUY IT.

I guess my pile is big enough that I should probably wait until the summer sale anyway.

I think Farcry 3 going on sale broke the interwebs, or at least my end of the steam part of them.

Steam says "Downloading" but no bytes for me, and I can't seem to view any profiles.

If you see this later, feel free to friend me up. Would love some mutliplayer on newish games to me (Borderlands 2, Torchlight 2) and always TF2.
I enjoy long walks along the beach and...okay, well the folks who've been on here real long know that one.

Absolutely, I always pay through Paypal at GMG. Apparently, banks have issues with it as it has 'gaming' in the URL, which can be linked heavily to gamlbing, a prime way of CC fraud. It's not really GMGs fault it seems.

I think that plus them being based overseas (in the UK) triggers some red flags for a lot of banks. I think GamersGate has the same problem, and they're based in Sweden.

Ah, I've never hit the UK problem

They did however block my payment once because I was behind a proxy at work, but they lifted that restriction on my account and all was well. Not entirely sure how they could tell.

Anyway, I must find a distraction to take me away from that Add to Cart button..

Just a friendly reminder: if you're interested in Closure, it's included in the current Humble Bundle.

Nobody wants these Bioshock 1 and 2 packs I got? You won't be able to add them to Steam, but they should otherwise be good, once we figure out how to deliver them. Bioshock 2 is very different from the original game, but it's really quite good, once you get past the, er, shock.

Two perfectly valid licenses for each, just going to waste....

My bank raised all kinds of flags because they're actually billing from Cyprus, which is an immediate red flag for fraud. I switched to PayPal and all's well.

I own both already, but I definitely appreciate the offer. I hope they find a good home!

Same - both great great games(with 2 being slightly superior, imo).

Spoiler:

Also, they have cheevs!
