MLB 13: The Show

Hey Slumber, are you playing all of those games, or are you simming the whole season? I always want to play every game, and because of that I've never actually gotten through a season, let alone done anything with a franchise.

I am playing games that look interesting to me, either because of pitching matchups, virtual stadium "tourism", division implications, or even throwback unis that I want to see. Out of 162 in my first year, I probably played about 30. OOTP has cured me of my former play-every-game-or-bust affliction.

I wish there was someway to track the games one plays versus simming. Just to see how much of a hindrance I am to the team;) I started out playing just Friday and Sunday games (so I could play a night and day game), and somewhat track what I had played. But I'm sorta ending up doing what you do, i.e. play games that look interesting. (speaking of OOTP, do you sim most games there too? I play about one or two a week, then sim the rest. Actually I should say I watch one or two a week. I usually let the AI run the games. I just fiddle with trades, free agency etc.)

That would be a fun stat. It feels like I win about half the games I play, and with all the supplemental simming my team ended up at exactly .500, so... maybe it's the team construction after all, and my skills on All-Star are roughly in line with the sim engine (if such a comparison is even possible).

Most of my OOTP these days is relegated to the GWJ league, but when I play it I barely "play" anything. I like watching the standings change, stop, make changes, etc.

Had the most frustrating game tonight. Playing my Road to the Show with my starting pitcher. I'm still in AA and playing for Jacksonville. I get the start and am having a career day, but have very little run support. After 8, I have struck out 12, but only lead 2-0. In the 9th, I get the first 2 outs and give up a single. Manager yanks me, next guy comes in and gives up a home run so no decision for me.

Really? Couldn't let me get one more out and complete the game?

I enjoy checking each day's top performers , so I go into the schedule and scroll back the week I didn't play and check that each day's games and such.

I play a couple games a week if I can. I enjoy stat watching, but I like the tenseness of games and reading about close plays that can drive me nuts:) And I get a kick seeing overall stats compared do that days stats. Etc. I just jump around to inside a game and look at the 3 screen options and so on. All fun, but yes, can be slow going.

My one newbie think is to do drafting, free agency etc. I usually just want to 'play', not worry about GM stuff. But giving it a go in my new game. Scary! LOL. (whoops. Sorry-OFF Topic with OOTP. I'll stop! and find the right thread)

Dammit I'm trying to play every game in season two of my Mets 'chise as CptDomano's question stirred something in me. The off-season saw a lot of failed attempts to lure marquee free agents to Flushing, which led me to resign the aging (but never as injured as IRL) Johan to a two-year deal, and bring back Carlos Beltran to patrol right. I'm 30-19 and 5.5 games in front of the Braves, with Beltran and Wright having great seasons thus far. The CPU owners are far harder to fleece these days, but I was seeking an upgrade to Ruben Tejada at short and for some reason the Dodgers were interested in swapping Hanley for LHP nutcase Oliver Perez, who I'd signed to a tiny deal just to fill out my AAA bullpen. I feel no guilt.
