Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

Which is an interesting thing to note. Considering his bloodline is middle eastern, he should really have a dark complexion and dark hair. Having blonde hair implies some genetic mixing. Which is certainly something that could have happened. But considering the game's main thematic device is genetic memory, how would genetic memory be affected by that kind of genetic mixing. deep.... thoughts...

lol but London's Burning isn't? It's even older...

Or maybe it's sun-bleached, like that of someone who spends a whole lot of time out on the ocean. But I like your explanation better.

As a former lifeguard of middle eastern descent, I can promise you it doesn't turn quite that light.

Good, because genetic diversity is way more interesting than needing to wear a hat more often.

I know, I was referring to the two guns on his chest, the one strapped to his back and the other in his hand.

Age is no factor. Can't think of a single Going to England montage set to Burning. Calling is the go-to lazy-ass choice for such things.

The heartening thing about the actual game is that I felt the ship missions were the parts of AC3 that worked the best.

I always thought things were a little loose on how we got from Ezio to Connor. In the course of 200 years (10 to 15 generations, give or take), the line travels from Italy to England, and gets mixed up with some Templar blood that then crosses over to the new world. AC3 did a good job showing the Europe to New World connection, but was still undefined on how we get from Ezio to Haytham.

Actually it's pretty simple. Altair isn't related to Ezio who isn't related to Connor. But Desmond is directly related to all of them and that's how he gets the genetic memories. At some point in history a descendant of Altair had a kid with a descendant of Ezio and the bloodlines mixed which is why Desmond can connect to them in the Animus up until the point where they have kids. At some point Connors lineage mixed in too which is why Desmond can see their memories too (up until they have kids). The connection could be as recent as Desmonds parents if his dad was related to Ezio and his mom to Connor for instance.

All of these ancestors combine to form branches who connect to form a tree. And at the bottom of the tree is Desmond. If that makes sense.

Here I've always thought it had to be direct descendants. Like Ezio is a direct descendant from Altair, as Haytham and Connor are from Ezio.

I believe they are supposed to be direct, passing Eagle vision from generation to generation.

Interesting proposal, but I'm pretty sure it violates entropy.

There has to be some form of Poe's Law that combines with Liefeld-esque-ness.

You know what, just give me this:

After about five attempts to get the timing precisely right, yes.

No, you can't. But these days, one thing with a theme becomes every thing that could possibly have that theme. We don't allow different takes or perspectives anymore.

Ancestry is a tree, not a chain. With every further generation you connect two separate bloodlines and the resulting descendant is related to exponentially more people. Ezio doesn't need to be Connors great grandcestor in order for Desmond to be related to both of them.

Yeah, I know, I'm not an idiot. But I believe it had been established we weren't following just anyone related to Des, but only those who had Eagle Vision, which may be less of a tree and more of a shrub or well-kept hedge.

But not if you want full synchronization. If you want that, you have to ride the coach backwards and fire your gun to ricochet off the sheriff's badge to kill the bad guy. And if you fail, you have to play the entire sequence again. And by that, I mean the the 5 minutes preceding it where you need to sweep the floors of the saloon by rapidly pressing the left and right stick back and forward over and over again until the pads on your thumbs are worn off.

Also, you can totally do other menial tasks like bring cartons from the back of the store to the front of the store for random shop keepers who aren't in any way related to the story nor allow you to be a badass assassin in any way.

Here's the link for the CG trailer that was leaked earlier today, https://cdn.anonfiles.com/1362245692264.mp4 , the game is coming out October 29th and it might just be the AC Jerry Bruckheimer game we never expected to see.

Love it.

The trailer says it'll be on PS4 too, so I'm buying it for whichever of those next-gen boxes I end up with this Fall.

Click the link I posted (two or so posts above) because it's still working and is showing pirate assassins

This version of the leaked video may not be up for long. The trailer officially comes out Monday.

I'm beginning to wonder if Ubi isn't leaking this stuff on purpose.

Ooh... "Next gen consoles."

Granted, it was almost a given, but I still really like seeing those words appear in game trailers.
