SF/Bay Area Slap & Tickle?

Sadly I have a family obligation that evening. Sorry to miss out, but you have not heard/seen the last of me. NOT BY A MILE!

I'll be there, deadlines permitting!

Wife is gone for a work trip next week, so more booze for me! When were people thinking of heading over there?

Sorry, left that out. Meet at 6pm at Thirsty Bear.

Awesome, I assume people will be sticking around for more than 1 drink so ill hopefully see you guys closer to 7 after I wrap things up at work.

See you guys on Wednesday!

In. I will likely be a little late. Any suggestions on parking? Never been to Thirsty Bear before....

If you're ok paying, the main lot for the Westfield Mall on 5th and mission is your best bet. Well lit and usually plenty of spaces. The bar is like 2 or 3 blocks from there. You can probably find cheaper (or free) but you may be driving for a good 30 minutes looking for it or parking far away, and it will be evening rush around then.

Thanks. I will take your advice and target the Westfield Mall.

There's also the Moscone center parking lot which is literally behind Thirsty Bear (with an entrance in the back).

Not sure what the prices are compared with the Mall.

Wish I could be there!

Should be the same price. All downtown parking lots have the same, city mandated tariff.

Looking forward to it!

Alas, no way for me to make the meet from the N. Bay on a Wednesday at 6. Have fun. Hope to meet up next time.

I shall be there!

When you get there, I will be the red-headed douchebag in a blazer. No, not that one. The other one.

I will be there but likely a touch late.

I appear to have shown up early. If you see a guy standing around outside, blue hoodie, red shirt, ponytail, that's me.

Thirsty Bear is a clusterf*ck. We'll wait a little bit here for people but I think we need a new bar.

Probably heading over soon, keep us updated if you move somewhere else.

Had a blast hanging out with you fine folk, as always. Looking forward to the next one

Thanks for coming out, everyone! Think we had about 15 people at peak - not bad for how packed Thirsty Bear was. Note to self: Never set up an event there again.

A good time was had by all.

That is too bad. I finally found a beer there I liked!

Well beer from a cask automatically tastes better...

What StaggerLee said. Grats on the job and sorry I brain farted on your forum name =)

And it was really a pleasant surprise to see Edgar_Newt there. I hope you make the trip up more often so it will give us an excuse to get together again!

These are the dates for my play Richard III:
March 15, 16, 29, 30, April 5, 6, 7
DVC PAC Theatre 321 Golf Club Rd. Pleasant Hill, CA 94523

Yup. Lots of fun and great to put names and faces to forum names. Of course, I've forgotten them all already. I'd like to blame the [mumble] glasses of beer, but I don't really need any kind of aid to memory loss.

Looking forward to the next GtG.

Figured I post here rather than start a new topic.

This weekend is the first Picnic in the Presidio for 2013 hosted by Off the Grid. Those of you who live in the (non-South) Bay Area probably are familiar with the travelling band of awesome food trucks. I went a few times last year and its awesome. The weather in SF is supposed to be amazing this weekend (as it has been most of the week), and you can't beat the food selection, FREE PARKING!, blanket-side booze service (in a radio flyer wagon), and a generally great outdoorsy time. Kids are more than welcome, they have little lawn games. Yes, you do have to be able to tolerate hipsterish people, but hey this is way up in the Presidio, not the Mission, so its a little more family, little less Irony.

Mrs. Carlbear and I will be there, probably close to 11. We'll probably bring a kite, and be lounging out there. If any GWJ'ers are thinking of going let me know and maybe we can meet up.

I looked at the calendar and realized its been almost exactly one year since this happened. Given we're in the epicenter of gaming and technology (Bay Area smugness activate), we should plan another get together to enjoy Fancy IPAs and $4 Toast at a local joint and thumb our noses at the little people out there.

I'm not good at organizing, but will take a stab if there's interest.

Even though I live in Southern California I would definitely try to make it out. I really miss San Francisco.

Maybe we should poll when a good weekend is for everyone?

Unfortunately I am a member of the recently unemployed. But that makes scheduling easy.

Arise again thread?

2 years ago I noted that it had been nearly 1 year since the last Bay Area get together which now puts us at 3 years running.

As we all sit around in our overpriced apartments waiting for the next dot com crash, maybe its a good time to try to get a GWJ meetup again?

Sounds good to me

Following DSGamer's lead in the Portland Thread, going to use this thread for a Bay Area check-in to make sure everyone is safe from fires, unprecented heat, power outages, COVID and today's ridiculous Orange sky.

In San Francisco proper, its finally a cool day, and the air quality is at least breathable without smelling smoke. Nevermind the fact that we will not see the sun today and its been somewhere between nighttime and early dawn levels of light all day long.
