PS+ Plus General PSN Game Talk

If you have multiple PS3s either you need $5 or you're fairly well-off.

is the first rule of Tautology Club?

I traded my baseball cards to get my 2nd PS3. Which will be his win in the long run (Maybe, they were an off brand, not Topps, I'm not sure how much they will appreciate) but my win right now, considering the value of the cards at trade was about $20.

All this PS+ business finally got me to upgrade my HD to 500gb. If I'd known how easy and inexpensive the process was, I'd have done it long ago.

... so how easy and inexpensive was it?

It took about 5 minutes with a small screwdriver. Amazon can give you a good idea of drive prices. I did use an external drive to backup and then restore the info from my original drive, though... which added about 30 minutes on both ends.

I have thought of upgrading my 160 gig drive in my PS3, but how do you get the operating system onto the new HDD?

You don't, the OS is on the PS3.
If you don't have anything to back up you just replace the harddrive. If you do have stuff to backup you backup your stuff and restore it after you replace the harddrive. Note some games will not allow you to backup the save file.

I think you can backup the normally un-copyable saves if you use the full backup/restore options.

You can definitely backup all saves to the cloud if you have PS+.

Oh man, this had me cracking up.

King of Fighters 13 is the free game this week. Words can't describe how impressed I am with PS+, I'm getting way more value out of this $50 than out of my XBL Gold subscription. I hope this works out for Sony, I'd hate to see this kind of product fail.

Whoa. I'm all over that.

Yeah, now that online play has cooled down quite a bit for me I'm more likely to re-up with PS+ than XBL Gold.

I tried out King of Fighters XIII, in my continuing quest to find a fighting game I will play for more than a half hour. I am certainly a fighting game newbie, so ease of entry is important. Also, I want it to look good, and feel satisfactory. The last fighting game I spent any significant time in was SoulCaliber for the Dreamcast.

Well, a few steps into the tutorial, I was unable to do a move where I had to press down quickly and then diagonal left or right quickly. After several minutes, I managed to do it, but I don't know how. After another place in the tutorial where I got stuck, I exited out and tried the arcade mode. I looked over the characters and, well, all the women are rather, um, giggly. One in particular I almost thought would be able to pull of some Dhalsim like moves with her chest. I picked three characters, played a few rounds, and quit out to play some more XCOM. Thanks for the free rental, PS Plus!

The PlayStation Store is finally getting a redesign. It looks nice and simple, and I hope it operates that way.

Coming to US on the 23rd.

I wonder how long that update and install will take.

Did anyone pick up The Unfinished Swan? I'll get it eventually. I haven't been in the gaming mood, lately.

I didn't even realize that it was out yet. Life is busy atm, but I'll probably nab it in a few weeks. Looks pretty cool.

Payday: The Heist is free to PS+ members starting tomorrow. Also, several "Spoooky" games / add-ons are going to be in sale until the 30th, including Plants vs. Zombies and some Zen Pinball tables, both for the Vita.

I'll be picking it up. I always have time for interesting, and better yet polished, short indie games. I loved Limbo and Journey. I hope to get at least a similar delight out of this.

Anyone up for some All Stars MP this week? If the timing's right, I might have it downloaded by tomorrow night.

PS+ members get access to the PlayStation All Stars beta starting tomorrow, as do all Vita owners. Official announcement.

EDIT: Semi-tannhausered? I didn't see anybody post this, but cyrax mentioned it above. Anyway, there it is. Multiplayer is limited to 2-2 and 4 player tournaments, not sure if you can just match up with anybody yet.

This just makes me love my PS3 even more.

I'll download the beta when I go to sleep. It's bad enough I'll probably have to install Dishonored before I can play it.

This is why, when I beat Transformers: War for Cybertron, I took it out of the drive and put in my previously shrink-wrapped copy of Arkham City to install as I cleaned up for the night a couple days ago. I was able to just sit down and play last night when I wanted to instead of waiting. Also, so far the first catwoman thing was underwhelming. One group of thugs and only really weak sounding / feeling attacks.

Yeah I do my installs pretty much whenever I can, rather than when I want to play.

I just signed up for + and downloaded King of Fighters, Double Dragon Neon, Scott Pilgrim, Renegade Ops, Ratchet and Clank, and BloodRayne. Why did I wait to do this?

I excited to find out what the Vita deals are going to be next month.

Don't forget to also download the All Stars beta.

That looks soooooo much better. I hope it's as easy to use as the video implies.

Looks like a big improvement. I'm a little surprised they didn't end up with a design that they would be marketing as "designed for Move" or something like that.
