PS+ Plus General PSN Game Talk

I've had my Vita since X-mas and have had no interest in buying anything for it. I just don't think there are any games for me on it yet. I did pre-order Soul Sacrifice so I am looking forward to that. I love my PSP and have transfered my favorite downloadables to my Vita. So I finally broke down and got a 1-year Plus subscription. I figure I'll download the freebies and maybe I'll hit something I didn't know I would like. I now see why I need to shell out $80 for a big memory card. I'm sure its been answered a million times but if I let my subscription run out will the free games I downloaded be available after I re-subscribe? Thank you.

Yes. Once you " purchase" a fee game through PS+, you can always access it while you have a subscription, even if it has lapsed.

Eh, wasn't really sure where to put this as we don't seem to have a general PS3 thread so I picked this thread.

Is there any known issue with the PS3 as a DVD player? I got something from the Redbox and there was a point toward the end of the movie where it started stuttering, then froze, and after about a minute skipped to a point 20 minutes later in the film. I tried going back to the scene manually and it would skip the whole block going either direction. Looked at the disc and there are no smudges or abrasions. I put the disc in my 360 and the scene plays fine.

Never had any issues with mine.

My PS2 was always the most reliable DVD player I could find. Other ones would freeze up if a disk was scratched or messed up somehow, but the PS2 would either not notice or stutter its way through the problem spot and continue playing normally. No comment on the PS3 as a DVD player, though. I'm always streaming the rare times I watch a movie these days. Honestly can't remember the last time I handled a DVD.

Apparently Fatal Frame is coming to PSN on Tuesday. So I'm buying Fatal Frame on Tuesday.

I had a similar problem with my 40 GB PS3. Stuttering, freezes and audio sync issues on blu-rays. I eventually called Sony support and they warranty replaced it.

Looking forward to this, though I honestly don't know when I'll have time to play (I have a queue of games to play). Do we know what the price is going to be?

I believe it is $15.

Yes, go to the youtube page on the 2nd video and the info is in the notes there. $15, $13 Euros, and $10 pounds. Cross buy and a platinum trophy.

I only played Fatal Frame 2 back then. How is the first one?

Also, played through Spec Ops courtesy of PS+ this weekend. Yes, it was interesting, but I'm not sure that it was worth-5-hrs-of-my-time interesting. Maybe it would have been if I hadn't burned out on cover based shooting (and shooting in general) around Uncharted 2. Still, it seemed pretty competent in terms of gameplay and I hope we continue to see such natural integration of player choice in game storytelling.

Labyrinth Legends is the free game tomorrow.

I'm very sad that game is not on Vita, it looks perfectly suited for it.

Oh that's good. While I am highly interested, at $15 full price, considering my pile, I was thinking of waiting.

I was reading the comments in the PS+ Blog update, and it looks like Guacamelee is going to be on sale for + members this week.

You’re right! For the sake of this post, I’ve removed them from the voting options, but yes, Guacamelle! will feature a Plus discount. We have more news on this and other discounted content that we’ll get up in a separate post; which will have great benefits for Plus members, in addition to being applicable for the wider PlayStation audience as well. Stay tuned!
But for now, going to keep the voting on the stuff featured above.

Now that is a great group of people--the commenters on that blog!

I'm actually not sure, but I've always wanted to play a game in the series. For one reason or another I never got around to it (my PS2s broke at prodigious rates, never had an original Xbox, the Wii game never got localized).

Fingers crossed that PSN updates earlier than usual today. I want my Guacamelee!

What is the usual time anyways. I remember one time I checked after work and some stuff (7PM eastern) and it still hadn't updated.

Anywhere between 2PM Pacific and 5PM Pacific.

Update is live

EDIT: Looks like the PS+ discount for Guacamelee is $11.99

Damn, I just bought Borderlands 2 on 360 a week ago for $35. Oh well.

Huzzah, now I have Guacamelee for my ride home. Good times incoming.

There's no indication on the PSN webstore that Guacamelee is cross-buy. I'm assuming someone just overlooked that, but I'm buying the PS3 version anyway just in case.

Edit: both versions show up on my download list, so no worries there. I'll see how each performs and play whichever looks best.

It indicates cross-buy in the announcement. I wish the store reflected those too.

EDIT: And the PS3 demo + unlock show up in my download list, so it is indeed both ways. Yet the game is flagged as a PS Vita game. /facepalm

I'm pretty surprised how far they're pushing the Nintendo references on non-Nintendo hardware.

I'm not sure I've seen Jeanne D’Arc on sale before. Looks like a permanent price change to $14.99 from $22.99.

Guacamelee is perfect! I've been wanting a game like this since Shadow Complex.

I dunno if I'd say perfect, as I don't like the placement of the dodge button or the lack of control customization, but it's really good. Also the meme/other game referencing is a bit heavy handed. Feels like the game doesn't need it. A little nod to influential games is a really charming touch in some games, but they do it so constantly here that it's just distracting.

Hmm, game also seems to have a freezing problem. I had it freeze the PS3 a moment ago, about 5 minutes after I saw it freeze on the GB QL.
