Playstation 4 Games Catch-All

Plague Tale Innocence is down. Final fight was mildly annoying. The first section of battle I think I got on the first try? Maybe second? I just did it earlier today and already can't remember much of it. The second section with 3 phases is what I assume y'all were complaining about? Actually I figured out the pattern really easy on the first wave. Then a couple tries on the second wave, putting out the torch. The third wave was a PITA. Some of that was on me. Some of that on the game. The surprise switching between his 2 attacks while throwing out fire got me. Then a few tries figuring out that pattern. Then a couple realizing I needed to lure each of his attacks to one corner or the other to keep the middle free for Hugo attack. Then actually implementing that took me about 4 or 5 more tries. I swear I had it on each of the last 3, perfectly spread out attacks. But dang it, I got caught by like a corner of white rat, even though I looked clear from it the first 2. Oh well. Minor annoyance. But at least I knew what I was doing, just executing it took a bit.

I’m really enjoying Absolver at the moment. The combat if fantastic.

How far in are you? I remember bouncing off it after a while, because I couldn't understand how to work the combat system properly. I would like to go back to it though.

I’m two bosses away from opening the big gate to go into the tower. I had a couple pf false starts with the game. The combat system seemed very complicated. It still does but I seem to be able to get by with the rudimentary combat deck I’ve built. I think that’s made the difference.

This video helped with that. I’m not saying I have my head round it completely but enough to win some fights and I’m hoping I grasp it more with experience.

I had a character at the end of the tutorial who is Windfall style. This helped me see I need to be focusing on certain stats which I think also made a difference.

Thanks! And so another one goes on the backlog.

Way to go, Stele! Overall thoughts? I hope you enjoyed it.

Oh yeah really great game. Not sure I'll go back to trophy hunt. Only got 51% and some of what I'm missing is the collectibles. And a couple of those optional story things. Storm the front gate and such. I got several of those but not all. And I only found 2 or 3 alchemy carts, which is why I also didn't get everything fully upgraded. I did get slingshot maxed.

Story was great. Gameplay was solid. AI was pretty good. Didn't have my protect target running off and doing stupid things like so many games. And the up/down directions for them were effective in fights and puzzles.

Once you get control of the rats the game was very forgiving on you or your escorts running into them. Like you didn't have to be in proximity to Hugo to keep everyone alive, so that was a good design choice.

And the PS5 upgrades were really nice. The rumble was well done, graphics looked fantastic. Losing screens were so quick I couldn't read the tips or story summary on chapter loads haha. Would recommend everyone who got it from PS+ to play it. Or if you missed that pick it up on sale for $11.99 (usually $40) for the next 2 days on PSN

Sifu’s date has been moved forwards to the 8th of February. To avoid the big hitters at the end of the month I’m guessing but hopefully because they are confident enough in their progress with the game that it’ll be ready to go by then. Can’t wait.

I'm very glad to hear that. I loved the game as well. It strikes me as one of those games not enough people have played, so I'm always happy to see more people sing its praises.

Deep Rock Galactic is coming to PS4 PS5 in January. Sounds like it’s a fantastic co-op game.

Been playing since EA on PC with a group of friends, half of whom we bought copies for. Collective hundreds of hours in. It's a lot of fun. Definitely occasional jank with the procedural level gen but it's a good time. They've also just started doing seasons with new missions and rewards that's brought us all back in.

Rock and stone!

Worth noting that there is to be no crossplay with Deep Rock, so you cannot play with people on Xbox or PC, which is a bummer for everyone.

It is indeed a fantastic game.

Wish it had couch co-op on the consoles. Seems like a thing my wife and I would enjoy together like Left 4 Dead.

It's also a PS+ game for Jan!

I might be giving a holler for a game sometime if that's cool Higgledy?

I was sure for many years that crossplay would never happen. Now that it has, I'm ready to firebomb the holdouts.

FWIW the two games I play the most both have it: Apex Legends and Dead By Daylight.

Yep that was the best thing about Epic buying Rocket League, finally getting cross play and cross save worked out.

I used to grind out items for special events on both PC and PS4 back before I had kids.

For what it's worth, PlayStation is likely the last platform to expect smaller games getting cross-play for since Sony has evidently been charging devs and publishers for the ability to do it. That's why Rocket League only got cross-play after Epic bought 'em out: Epic is able and willing to pay the extra compensation.

Of course, Deep Rock Galactic seems to only offer Xbox and Windows Store cross-play. If you bought the game on Steam, you can't cross-play with Xbox players. Why? That I don't know.

The "why" is the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) in which Deep Rock (and, afaik, all Xbox games) was developed. As described by Wiki: "The purpose of this platform is to help develop universal apps that run on Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows 11, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and HoloLens without the need to be rewritten for each."

In other words, DRG on Windows Store is basically identical to DRG on Xbox.

In contrast, DRG on Steam is... not. It's a different platform, even though both are on PC.

And yes, it's confusing, and I probably haven't understood it properly, but that's the gist.

Yes, definitely! I’m looking forward to having some co-op adventures

Cool!

The PS Plus games are available to download. Horaah.

Seems like a useful starter guide:

Thanks for the reminder and the vid. I'll be watching/downloading soon as able

Yeah grabbed it last night, guess I should install and see what the fuss is.

Briefly tried out the PS5 version and it seems real solid. Has performance and fidelity mode. Didn't try out fidelity as it's not an overly graphics intense game anyway, but performance mode was nice and smooth.

Liked the DualSense support. Touch pad brings up the map which is nice and easy. Adaptive triggers kick in when the weapons are out of ammo which is a nice piece of feedback. I wish there was usage of the triggers when firing the weapons but even that little touch feels good.

Only disappointment is that I believe there's no cross save or cross platform play (but I believe it does support PS4/PS5 play). I've put a fair chunk of time in on PC so that'll be my primary platform, but I do have some friends on Playstation I'll probably play it with as well. If anyone wants to play friend me up, love me some rock and stone!

Looks like PlayStation has released a Similar "Wrapped" feature. There's a blog here about it, and you can visit it here.

I posted in trading but does anyone have the PS4 flight stick they are willing to part with?
