Is that SotC the HD version?

I don't know. I'd imagine, but who knows?

Shadow of Colossus on the PS3 is the HD version. The underlying art assets have not changed, but they did upscale it quite well. I tried the game recently and it looked pretty good for a PS2 port.

I picked it up, because I never played it, but I also thought I would be playing The Last Guardian by now. I have a feeling it might be vaporware, although there are rumors it will come out next Summer.

I'm counting the minutes to Tokyo Jungle.

The new free games are NBA Jam On Fire Edition (PS3) and Chronovolt (PS Vita).

Also, does anyone have experience with Skullgirls? I had heard some good things about htis fighter, which is also on sale for $7.35.

Finally, Jetpack Joyride is free for PS3 and Vita.

Sound Shapes is also going on sale - $7.35 for PS3/Vita Cross Buy. I had been looking at picking this up. The sale makes it a no brainer.

But they list a Vita only version for the same price as crossplay. Should I take care to buy on PS3 to ensure I get crossplay support?

That confused me too. The title itself is a Cross Buy title. I don't think it's possible to buy a version that won't unlock both for your PSN account. Buying it from the PS3 will probably download both releases of the game where buying it from the Vita would only download the Vita installer.

Buying either unlocks the other. Also remember that just because you buy something on the ps3, you don't have to download it. You can easily just DL the ps3 version.

On a different subject, ps+ has Two Worlds II for only $5. I'm guessing I should stay away d/t the very mixed reviews, but the price is so good! Has anyone here had experience with it? I LOVED Skyrim and put ~ 240 hours in it.

That's correct. I "bought" Retro City Rampage today and it tried to download the Vita version along with the PS3. I had no option to just get PS3. Easy enough to cancel the Vita download but still very odd design.

I really liked Two Worlds 2. It allows for a tremendous amount of flexibility with regards to character creation. It's not half so polished as Skyrim. It's kind of like a less polished Witcher 2, but the various gameplay systems work well together and the main narrative isn't as focused.

I dunno, the sailboat really did a lot for me.

I just logged in and confirmed that when I 'bought' the Vita version or Retro City Rampage it did not buy the PS3 version and I have to buy it there. Thankfully it's still free today. I also note that the PS3 store says you get a "Bonus Vita Copy" when you purchase on PS3. I'll have to make sure I'm careful to buy all cross-play titles on the PS3 to ensure I get both copies going forward.

Yeah it was messed up for me too... Kind of a pain in the ass that some work and some don't.

How is Sound Shapes on the PS3? I know it is crossplay, but it seems I only really hear people talk about it on the Vita. Also, Is Jetpack Joyride on PS3 as well? Thought it was just on Vita.

Yeah, I bought it and have put a few hours in to it. It's... interesting. The best thing in its favor is undoubtedly the tutorial, which really tries to teach you to play fighting games. It's reasonably effective too. The game as a whole has very good sound, art, and style. As of the patch that came out a few weeks ago, the training mode is top notch as well. A neat feature of the game is that you can have up to 3 characters on your team, and the amount of damage they each take and dish out scales with the size of your team. That leads to some interesting strategic trade-offs at the outset. Additionally, in contrast to most team games, you can (and are encouraged) to set up custom entrance moves for when you tag in a teammate.

The downsides depend on your preferences. The most obvious is the cheesecake aspect. There's lots of scantily clad anime girls, complete with panty shots and so on. It's basically a parody and love letter to such things all at once. The other potential downside is that it's a very combo-heavy 6-button fighter. Six buttons mean you'll either be using the shoulder buttons or will want a fightstick or fightpad. The game is heavily influenced by Marvel vs Capcom 2, so the combos can get pretty nuts, although there's an infinite combo protection system that works fairly well. Finally, the game is certainly alive, but not a huge hit, so the online community isn't going to be huge. But there's a definite presence at SRK if you want to learn more about it.

Overall, I'd say it's a very deep and challenging fighter overall, and definitely worth the $8 if you're interested. I've had a lot of fun with it, and plan to put in more time. I don't know that I'd recommend it as a first fighter, despite the tutorial, but it's a much simpler system than something like Street Fighter 4 or BlazBlue. Oh, and the last boss is absurdly annoying if you're playing story mode, but that comes with the territory for all fighters.

Coming this week to PS+ subscribers:

  • God of War: Ascension Multiplayer Beta (PS3)
  • Mega Man 9 and 10 Combo Pack (Free)
  • Eufloria (Original price: $5.00; PS Plus Price: $2.50)
  • NCAA 13 Add-On (Free)

Unsurprisingly, it's far less impressive as the lineup we had for the holidays. I'm still happy to see Megaman in there. I only recently found an appreciation for what classic Megaman games are, so I'm actually looking forward to giving it a try.

I could have done without the punishment of MM10 - already have MM9 on the Wii - and haven't managed to finish off Dr. Wily. It's so hard to remember the time when MM2 was anywhere near as hard as this, but I know it once was. MM2 is like a walk in the park to me now. But I know I'll still pick up MM10.

Wonder if that pack includes the DLC. I picked up Mega Man 9 years ago from a sale, but I don't think I ever played it. Or, played it much. Something tells me my love of MH and the Souls games will at least let me respect the earlier MM games.

Anyone want to setup a night for GoW MP, if that's a thing we can do?

I'm glad to see the megaman games on there. I've been really wanting some classic hard platforming and this should do the trick.

No it's not. I looked online to find the best order to defeat bosses in 9 and only managed a few stages before giving up. I only played Mega Man 2 once when I was younger and loaded it up recently for the Hell of it and beat Metal Man and Wood Man without a single continue screen.

Mega Man 9 is harder than any Mega Man game ever.

NCAA 13 Add-On (Free)

EA giving away free stuff?

Maybe they scaled the difficulty up enough so that it's seems as tough now as MM2 did to our then grade school minds (assuming everyone everywhere who ever played a Mega Man game is the same age as me, which has to be true :P).

I do recall Mega Man and Bass kicking my butt. Though... that was on an emulator with a controller I was certain had input delay (gravis game pad pro on a midi/gamepad port)

I just wanted to throw out a good word for Eufloria. There's only a couple of people on my Steam friends who actually played the game much, but I had a very therapeutic 15 hours with it. The gameplay reminded me a lot of Galcon, but with a bit more depth, as each planet produces units with different stats.

1. I've almost finished Corpse Party. It is kind of amazing but also draining and disturbing. I'm really glad I took a chance on it, but I could use some time away. But XSEED says the sequel is hitting PSP/Vita next week, so...well, back into the weirdhole I go.

2. Damnit, even the NEW games I buy for Vita are PSP games. v_v

Yeah, Corpse Party is great. I haven't quite finished it myself (or explored the other endings) so I won't rush to buy the sequel.

Got GoW MP beta downloaded, patched, and went through the tutorial. Looks like there's no invite or party system, so I'll just play when I get the chance.

I did not skim this thread and am probably asking something that may have been answered 100 times already.

I just got on last night to shop the PS3 store and saw they changed the layout of the store. (no idea how long ago)... How do you navigate it? Is there a way to search by Genre? I was looking for a good RPG...even an old one... and could not figure out how to browse at all.

Any tips, tricks, or help?

They kind of screwed the pooch with the new layout. Par for the course. If you find an answer to your question, let us all know?

Can you not download and play MM9 or 10 on the vita or am I missing something?
