Playstation 4 Games Catch-All

BTW, I dipped a toe into Mad Max on PS4 last night, and I thought the graphics were really... icky. Does it look substantially better on PC? I don't recall the trailers looking this bad. I don't know if it's enhanced for PS4 Pro in any way.

I have it on both (non pro PS4), and PC is significantly better. The biggest factor is that it can run at 4K with high FPS on modest hardware - there's not a lot going on in the wasteland. I played it with DSR and it is impressive.

Newbie question here, apologies if it has been answered seven million times already...!

PS+ doesn't limit you to only one of the monthly titles, right? It's like XBOX Gold, you can get all the free titles on offer?

Correct Dakuna, you can add all of them to your library, even if you don't download them right away.

... and then never end up playing them (if you're anything like me).

Ratchet & Clank I will play, Bloodborne I'll at least give a whirl. Since I didn't like Dark Souls 3, I feel my chances of enjoying Bloodborne are super slim, but free is free.

EDIT: FREE = INCLUDED

Pretty much. Well, like 95% of them. A lot of times when there’s something really good, I’ve already bought it, if not played it, like Bloodborne. I don’t think it’s a bad service, mind, I’ve just come to realize that maybe I don’t need to be paying for it since I don’t play the free games and I don’t really play multiplayer.

Just to clarify on PS+:

  • Every month you should "purchase" (for 0 dollars/pounds/spacebucks) every free title offered by PS+, although you don't need to download any of them unless you want to play them.
  • Once you've purchased them, they're added to your library, and you'll be able to download and play them in perpetuity while you have an active PS+ account.
  • If your PS+ account lapses, you'll no longer be able to play any of the PS+ games you purchased for free (in contrast to games that you purchased with a PS+ discount - those are yours, period), until you re-up our PS+ subscription.

Unsurprisingly, the free PS+ games were of considerably higher mass appeal when Sony was an underdog, during the PS3 era. Once it became clear that the tables had turned and they were the top console dog in the next generation, we got noticeably fewer AAA titles on a regular basis; this month is an anomaly, possibly in response to increased sales for the XBox One X and the revitalized XBox Free Game Pass program.

Hm, maybe... it might also just be that the early rounds of big PS4 titles are hitting the age where they make business sense as a PS+ throw-in. Recall we got MGSV not too long ago as well. The library is finally mature enough to where there are actual major PS4 titles that have passed their marketing primes.

Little of both maybe. I remember being enticed over to PS3 by the Plus program when Xbox didn’t have GwG yet. It definitely felt more exciting back then. But maybe it’s me that’s changed.

Witch and the Hundred Knight Revival Edition is $12 this weekend.

Thoughts?

I remember wanting it on PS3 but then heard it was coming on PS4 before I ever got around to it. Can't remember hearing much about the PS4 version since though.

Colossus 6 is down in the SOTC: Remake, man this game is beautiful & epic. Being on the back or top of these colossi is just unreal, I had the serpant diving in & out of water whilst I was hanging on, making my way up its tail as it came up each time.

Being on top of the flying colossus just feels amazing as its twisting & turning through the air.

The game is simple enough & fairly easy so far but the environments, the colossi & getting onto each one is a spectacle & they truly feel every bit of their huge size & scale.

It's basically the same game on PS4. There's a demo of you want to give it a go.

I wasn't caught up on this thread, but I just want to reiterate that Bloodborne and all Souls games let you quit-save anytime, anywhere. If you do it during a boss fight it will put you back outside the door to the boss room. You can absolutely play in chunks of whatever time you have available. Also, I have played every game in the series while having young kids (probably started playing when my first was one; youngest is six now). It's doable in chunks and evenings.

Bloodborne is an absolute masterpiece and everyone with PSplus should grab it and strongly consider giving it a go. I know I'm not alone in saying I'm happy to help folks get started.

Yup, same. I've been thinking about starting another run with the Return to Yharnam event. It sounds like the servers are busier than they have been since the first two weeks of the game's initial launch.

If you don't have PS+ I have a disc around here somewhere that someone sent me in order to torture me because of how much I LOVE From Software games (how much = I don't). I did at least try it, but didn't get very far.

Send me a PM if you're interested. It's just the base game, same as PS+

I started a new character, around three hours in now. Ran into second boss and got trounced. Feels great!

It's rough though, coming from Monster Hunter where X is dodge and on Bloodborne its circle, and triangle consumes one of the precious heals where it's just another attack for Monster Hunter.

Tried Bloodborne. I really disliked Dark Souls 3, so I was worried about liking it. So far, I do like Bloodborne a lot more than Dark Souls 3! We'll see though. I haven't fought any bosses yet, and still don't really know how to effectively use my gun. Having no shield is terrifying for me.

EDIT: yes, the servers seem very populated. Messages galore, and phantoms all over the place (the white ones that disappear after 2 seconds, nothing you can interact with) - I haven't done any multiplayer yet.

Having no shield terrified me as well but the dodge is supreme.

The bosses are enormous fun. Report back when you encounter them

The pistol is a counter weapon mostly. It doesn't really do damage but hit an enemy at the right time and you'll stun them so you can follow up with a powerful attack.

It's totally worth spending a few lives at least getting a basic understanding of the gun parry timing, etc. It does vary from monster to monster, but getting the basics of it down will serve you well later.

The two brick ogres together in yarnham (down to the left from the lantern once you open the left side shortcut) are a nice place to practice it. It's a very short walk and you get two enemies to try and stagger.

Just a quick reminder we have a Bloodborne thread, which I highly recommend anyone just getting into the game (or returning to Yharnam) take a look see at.

Ah, my bad, Taharka. There was so much bloodborne chatter, I didn't even realize I was in the wrong thread.

Not at all! This was not a chastisement, just a PSA.

Oh my goodness how have I not heard of this yet? From Infamous studio Sucker Punch.

Maybe it wasn't posted outside the E3 threads? I know I would have shared it.

I wonder if they will show actual gameplay this E3

I hope they do. I am very excited about this game.

Does look amazing doesn't it

This looks cool. It reminds me of the old arcades I played in high school:

Dig the art style

Playstation Plus games for April (at least according to Eurogamer)

Mad Max (PS4)
Trackmania Turbo (PS4)
