Playstation 4 Games Catch-All

For my money TotB is the best Telltale game since the first Walking Dead. And I am looking forward to trying Abzu.

Tales from the Borserlands is Terrific! Holds true even if you're not into the Borderlands series. Give it a try.

I played the first 30 minutes on my phone (likely not the ideal place to play it) and it didn't click. I'll definitely give it another go on PS4, though.

I agree 100% - I went into the game completely done with Borderlands humor and it ended up loving it. Most of my fun depended on the character interactions, which only got better as the story goes on.

And those opening music-cinematics are insanely fun! I was grinning from ear to ear on each one.

Lineup for August includes Just Cause 3!

Seriously, everyone go get this game this month. I played a solid 4 hours last night, until 1:30am this morning, and now I'm sitting at work trying to come up with an excuse to leave early, go home, and keep playing.

Infamous Second Son!

Booyah

Uk gets Child of Light and Hatoful Boyfriend as well.

I'm happy to try out all three.

NA too. Sony has apparently made 2 or 3 announcements today, some with the wrong games.

Ah, crap. I literally paid $25 for a copy two weeks ago, and ended up not liking it very much. Hoisted once again.

Child of Light is fantastic. A nice short, and charming little RPG.

Hatoful Boyfriend is genuinely better than people think. A lot of folks seem to think it's just a novel joke VN, but it's surprisingly well-written. It's better than it has any right to be.

And heck, I've been meaning to try out Infamous! Sweet!

I just used the "buy 12 months get 15 months" deal the PSN store has in AU to avoid the incoming price rise.

I've almost bought Hatoful a few times, glad my patience has worked in my favour!

Damn. Too late, been meaning to take this deal.

Looks to be one of those months where interested enough in the games that we already own a couple. Child of Light was pretty good apart from the rhyming. I too just purchased Second Sun, in a sale, but as yet have not played.

I grabbed 3 years of Canadian PS+ for ~35USD a year, prior to it going up to $60. Codes work on the US PSN for whatever reason.

Ah ok. Sony should really try to avoid giving different games to different areas. It's a recipe for disgruntlement (not that the internet needs an excuse) when the game people were hoping to be on PS+ is there but just not for their area.

Hatoful Boyfriend is a game that leaves me completely cold but I'd like to try just because so many people say it's good. Odds are I'll fall off it, so I wouldn't pay money for it, but I've loved several games I was convinced I'd hate going in.

Is Infamous Second Son any good?

Yes, very fun game.

I really enjoyed it. I'm not normally a fan of open-world games, but Second Son had fun movement mechanics, a well-realized environment, and was pretty easy breezy. It was a good way to kill a dozen hours or so.

So glad I passed up Second Son the couple of times I saw it on flash sale.

Glad I didn't pick it up at the grocery store. Also, gonna finally get that pigeon in Hatoful Boyfriend.

Tagging for PS4 goodness.

With Phantom Pain being a PS+ game this month is it worth holding on and picking up and playing Ground Zeroes cheaply before the main game?

Nah

Ta.

Oh my, I didn't realize that Phantom Pain was one of the free games this month. I will definitely be picking that up shortly.

I've been moored halfway through the campaign for ages. I should definitely finish MGS.

Just so. Maybe read a quick story summary if you like?

Will finally be able to get around to starting Hob this week, anyone else played it?

No way. Ground Zeroes actually put me off buying MGS5. Now since it's free of course I checked it out and it turns out I'm having a great time. Well, once I got past the prologue I've been having a great time.

Yep, still slowly making my way through it. Be prepared for some "where do I go/what do I do next" moments - which I usually dislike, but the game's presentation is so chill and relaxing that I generally don't mind wandering around confused.

I'd like to, but there's still just too much other stuff out right now that I want to play. I'm afraid Hob is going to be pushed off until a sale for me.

So ground zeros is bad?

It's not bad, it's just a demo. You get to play in a very small island, you get none of the free roaming/base building stuff the main game has, and your weapon choice is very limited. It's great for sampling what the game systems offer, but compared to TPP it's nothing.

TPP also gives you a recap of every critical story thing that happens in Ground Zeroes, so you don't even have to play it for story.
