Prison of Elders has matchmaking, and in very doable with the randoms it will give you.
Challenge of Elders does not have matchmaking, and it would probably be very difficult to solo while also trying to achieve the score based objectives.
There is something nice about playing public in Destiny that I've discovered: no one talks.
So it at least gets rid of part of the problem of playing online multiplayer. Hell, most of the time I've found communication unnecessary even in Crucible. People just instinctively stick close. Most folks also know what's up with the Strikes and Prison as well.
My friends and I won't be meeting as often the next few days, Val, and I believe you recently friended me up. If you're able to do ET time, I can help you out tomorrow night. The thing is, yeah, once you hit LL340, the things you can do solo decrease more and more for boosting light level. I just hit 350 this morning, and my solo time is basically going to be Reputation and Legendary Mark grinding.
This weeks Heroic has Small arms + Solar Burn. That means if you Have a Gjally (just need to finish quest) most strikes will be much easier. You just need to be careful which strikes you pick. However, Solar is probably the best burns in the place list to face (arc was probably the worst). Do note be afraid to just orbit on bad strikes and skip them will save you a lot of time. We were skipping 3-4 strikes on Arc burn. Nightfall is also worlds easier.

I have no idea what you just said. Solar Burn? Arc Burn?

In the Heroic and Nightfall strikes, they change modifiers weekly. When it's a Arc/Void/Solar Burn, abilities and weapons with those elemental damage modifiers deal extra damage -- and that's for both enemies and Guardians.
For instance: an Arc Burn week, one would choose the Zhalo Supercell, as it's the only primary weapon at current light that deals elemental damage -- so it tears through enemies. Most of the time, the enemies will favor those elemental burns, too.
Did that make sense?
Did that make sense?
It does, though I'm surprised there's an elemental effect on a primary weapon? I thought only secondaries and heavy weapons had those?

Zhalo is the only current elemental primary, there were many others back in year 1 when they were given out for end game content, from the Raid and Trials of Osiris.
Also, they changed the nightfall over to SABER (UGH!) since there are apparently some problems with the Winter's Run strike

DOH! Double post!
So...um...I hate the SABER strike.
Saber strike is pretty easy with Solar burn though.
Never mind took off Solar burn it looks like.
In olden times, when the world was young and sepia-toned, the benevolent raid lavished wondrous primaries upon worthy supplicants. Well, two wondrous primaries, a laughably poor one, and one that almost never dropped. The result of this was that every single week, your choice of primary was determined by whatever the Nightfall effect of the week was.
Said primaries can not be infused, so now are merely curios. Primary elemental damage is now the sole province of exotics.
Fatebringer, we barely knew ye.

Vision in Confluence will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
I plan on jumping on (PS4) around 7pm CST tonight, if anyone cares to join me. Finished the story on all three characters and I think my guys are all between about 330 and 345LL.

Do the planetary materials (relic iron, etc) that you can donate to factions for reputation change with the store refreshes? Apparently I've never used spinmetal for anything since Destiny released because I somehow ended up with 4 stacks of it despite never actively farming it, and none of the faction npc's currently want it. I can't find any use for it and it's taking up valuable inventory/bank space but I'd rather not just discard it.

it rotates every week.

Send some friend requests/follows around, too. There's a spot in your profile here to link your Gamertag -- under Your Account --> Edit Account (gives you the little Xbox button on the bottom of your posts, like you see for me and Fedaykin98; especially useful if your forum name is not your Gamertag, like me).
Always willing to help out, myself...
Thanks. Added the profile links and friended. I'm currently sitting at 352 on Hunter and a Warlock.
So in case anyone else was wondering about this Skeleton Key business, you can only get them after completing all main story missions and quests in Rise of Iron and in Strikes. However, it seems they rarely drop in Strikes.
At the end of each Strike (or just Heroic and Nightfall?) you'll see a chest appear that requires a skeleton key. Opening it can get you gear that can exceed the 365 mark. I believe a table was posted earlier in the thread. So I imagine the advice is not to use skeleton keys until you hit 365, so you can save them up and boost your gear quicker.
Guess I still gotta get that one boon in the Iron Forge.
I had a good run in Archon's Forge tonight. I wandered into a random player's match and between the two of us we managed to keep it running for nearly forty minutes. I was able to finish all my Archon bounties, raised the ROI book two levels, and got enough loot to fill my pockets to capacity, then another random player joined us and killed our streak. I actually had an Enhanced Offering left but the terminal wouldn't take it for some reason. I don't know if it was bugged or if we hit some sort of limit.
Sup Crew...
Mrs. Abu is heading to an office dinner tonight, so I have some time to play. I would like to finish the Campaign Strike, and would rather do it with Goodjers, so if anyone is free and doesn't mind helping out, that would be cool. I am working some other quests as well, and would be happy to help anyone on their quests.
I will be on around 6pm EST (Xbox One) so hit me up.
Heya. I know a few peeps, maybe some lurkers, have sent me friend requests for destiny lately. Thanks and feel free to hop in to my fire team if I'm just hovering in orbit. I'm afraid I usually fire up the game with my own agenda.. Lately it's just doing public events, heroic strikes and pushing my alt through the ROI campaign. But I do hop on late-ish for some tastes especially being in the west coast
How close are people on the PS4 to being raid ready? I'm 353 I think, and I'd love to go in with a crew on a blind run.
My schedule lately has pretty much kept me from grouping up with anyone. So I'm stalled out on the content until I can fix that.
I'm 351 myself, and my friends are roughly 350. We're working on Challenge of Elders and Heroic Strikes to try and get better gear, though one of my friends is a married man with kids so he's much more sporadic in availability.
If you see me online, feel free to ping me. We must be on different schedules though, as I haven't seen you online as the same time as me.
I've actually been on a lot more lately, but tend to average around the 8-10pm range when I do sign on once things calm. Otherwise, I've been jumping on as early as 7pm ET.
Just some notes about light levels on raid. Will spoiler for those that do not want to know.
The entrance is 350 light
The first Boss is 360 light (although adds seem to still be 350)
The Second Boss is 370 light (although adds seem to be 360)
The Final Boss seems to be 380 light (unsure on adds but certainly 370 if not 380).The 10 light spike on boss certainly impacts people's DPS. So as much as you can survive the adds you need to do so for more cycles.

I haven't been able to get to work all week because of floods, so I may be about 370 by tonight if anyone wants to do a nightfall or three as well.
