Marvel Heroes - Catch All

Is anyone playing in the beta? What do you guys think? I am going to plop down the $200 for the ultimate bundle. I'm hoping it isn't terrible (The RPS preview is bad) because I make mine Marvel.

I paid $60 for the Wolverine/Cable/Deadpool/Collosus Xforce bundle.

This has been giving off a bad odor since they announced it. Nothing really seems appealing outside of the IP itself.

I'm really tempted to try this, but wait until launch for the F2P version (though I might spring for one of the bundles). I love my Marvel comics, so I really hope it's an enjoyable experience, but I've never been into MMORPGs. Has a launch date been announced?

Checked it out at PAX and it seemed fun, although certainly not up to the standards of of DC Universe Online. Didn't think it would be worth a subscription fee.

Luckily it's not going to have one. It's going to be F2P, with 5 characters available for free, and you can buy other ones and different costume (you can also get characters and costumes as drops, but I can't imagine they'll be too common).
Looking at the characters and costumes available, I think I'll probably just wait for the launch.

What are the standards of DC Universe Online? I played it. It's not bad.

I think the problem with super hero MMOs is that the route DC Universe Online took isn't very serious. Just having thousands of heroes run around doesn't really get me into the world. I'm hoping that because we have to pick a hero from the Marvel Universe, that it does a better job. Does anyone know can there be multiple Spider-Man running around?

I keep hoping the game turns out well. It has a lot of the original Diablo team working on it, I just hope they don't rush it.

I'm in the beta. Not sure about what I'm allowed to say, but I don't think it compares to DCU. Marvel Heroes is Diablo with Marvel characters.

Does anyone know can there be multiple Spider-Man running around?

Yup.

I love me some Diablo. I'm happy with Marvel universe. I'm just hoping it's fun outside of the "buy this to make it even MORE fun"

Need to clarify - my comments about DCUO were meant to convey that it was a very well done MMO with high production values and that it was pretty faithful to the IP. I didn't get the same feeling of polish from the build at PAX, but I recognize that was several months ago.

If its free to play, I'll definitely try it. I'm the opposite of some of you in that I really enjoyed creating my own unique costume and abilities. DCUO at least did a good job of allowing me to be an individual but a protege of my favorite character. I'm not so sure I want to be the green tanky Wolverine in the same group as the purple healing spec Wolverine.

I am in the beta. It's fun. It's an ARPG vice a DCUO MMORPG. Think Diablo with super heroes and other players running around. If you want Diablo-Lite with the Marvel license than the is decent. It isn't a deep game, but entertaining. I wish it was a little more robust, but I bought a Founders package.

I got into this round of beta as well and put a couple of hours into it today. It was fun but I am not sure about putting any money into it yet. Need to try it some more.

SpyNavy pretty much nailed the description!

Buy it for the Deadpool VoiceOver. Worth every penny. They nailed it IMHO.

Glad I bought the Xforce pack with Deadpool then I so want to beta test, I can't wait to play! Was a huge marvel nerd, umm fan growing up.

Didn't see it here but over on CAG, but got one. Downloading now, to hopefully try this afternoon when it's open.

So Diablo/Torchlight clickfest with Marvel skin? Sounds fun.

Well that was fun.

Now the question is starter pack or premium pack?

Just like other F2P stuff, I know I'll spend some money eventually. Right now the starter packs have bonus in-game money, so you're getting more for your money than you would post-launch. The news says the ultimate pack cash bonus ends Mar. 11, so I wonder if the other 2 packs lose their bonus then too?

Might have to pick up a starter pack at least this weekend.

So can we friend each other up in the closed beta so that we can ya know, test the friend features?

Looks like they did a complete character wipe today, but also sent out 3k G so you can buy more stuff.

Looks like some testing periods open tonight and Thurs too.

Sounds good to me. I am JohnnyMoJo in game

Apparently both people have to be online for friend requests.

Rainsmercy in game. I should be on for Thursday's event. There is also beta events on Saturday and Sunday.

I'm Javamancer in game.

I couldn't get the currency thing to work yesterday. When I tried to buy something, it just spun forever. Did that work for anyone?

I had no problems with it, but they made several announcements in chat they were having issues with it.

Curse key give away for this weekend. You will need to have an account/login to claim.

Sorry, I didn't bother loggin into the link, since I am already in the closed beta, saw it on the daily mmorpg email and posted it in case it would give anyone a chance to get into beta who wasn't already.

Well along with that curse announcement, they said free beta access to anyone with Premium Accounts, even if previously purchased.

But that deal apparently ends Monday.

Also a Hulk sale this weekend. Green!

EDIT: Friended a couple of you but it still shows you offline. Stele, in-game.

Ok, so I'm a filthy skimmer

I was on last night, forgot to friend people, but really enjoying it still.

SpyNavy in game and was I right - did they hit Deadpool's voice and quips out of the park?
