Manhunt in LA

Pages

A former Los Angeles cop who allegedly warned he would target law enforcement in retribution for being fired is now suspected of shooting three officers early Thursday, killing one, authorities said. The shootings -- which come a day after Irvine, California, police named Christopher Jordan Dorner as the suspect in a double slaying there Sunday -- sparked a huge manhunt in Southern California.

This guy has apparently thought through this situation quite thoroughly. Fox News has published his manifesto in it's entirety. It was an interesting read.

Ex-LAPD officer Christopher Jordan Dorner's manifesto

With all the talk recently about police state I though this might bring some new discussion to the table.

The scary part: he's doing exactly what he said he'd do...took out the daughter and fiance of the Quan guy earlier, now killing cops in the security detail for someone else on the manifesto. This guy is beyond nuts.

Unless he can go into bullet time, I don't like his chances.

The scary part is knowing how f*cked up the LAPD is, it's surprising something like this didn't happen sooner.

Yep, there are already reports of LAPD officers shooting innocents because they were driving the same make/model car as this guy.

Say what? Do you have an online source? Wow.

It's in the original article posted, they shot at a blue truck and wounded two people that turned out to be delivering newspapers because it looked like a truck of the suspect's, and came near a home they were guarding (named officer target inside).

Must have missed that. Yikes. The Riverside cops are giving a presser now...it's very uncomfortable.

Looks like they did this twice already.

In Torrance, California, LAPD officers guarding one of those people opened fire early Thursday morning on a blue pickup truck that resembled the one Dorner is said to be driving, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said. The gunfire left two people wounded in what Beck said was a case of mistaken identity.

The truck was a newspaper delivery vehicle, a senior law enforcement source said. The source said Torrance police fired on another blue pickup truck in the city, but no one was injured.

I know they are angry and fearful of their lives and the lives of their families but WTF? This situation is nuts.

I read the manifesto. Dude is like a homicidal Batman.

Obama should send drones into the LA battlefield and start blowing up blue trucks until they nail the right guy. That, or the NRA needs to hand out guns and ammo to everybody in the region to make sure the next person who identifies the killer can shoot him on sight.

NRA - "We need armed guards at every police station..." Oh wait!

*record scratch*

NRA - "We need armed guards at every house..."

NRA - "Wait. We need armed guards to protect us from the armed guards. Yeah, yeah that's it"

NRA - "Nothing stops a madman with a gun like a madman with a gun...no that's not right...."

Wow. I've read the manifesto, and as manifestos go, that one is less crazy than most, in a lot of parts; then...it goes into full blown crazy.

That said: I do think it might be worthwhile for some news agency to file a FOIA and get his hearing info, especially the bits where the injured citizen talks.

I would not be at all surprised to find out that the LAPD runs exactly as C. Dorner says it does in his manifesto. It matches reports that I've heard from people who have had to deal with the LAPD. And the LAPD does itself no favors by firing on multiple vehicles this morning; none of whom contained a 300 pound bear of a black man. The LAPD fired on, and injured, two citizens this morning for doing nothing more than driving in a blue truck...which I think proves that if it had been a black man in the truck, instead of two middle aged Asian ladies; they'd have shot him dead; whether it was Dorner or not.

As for Dorner...he's a dead man walking. Even if he wanted to be taken alive; which he clearly does not, there's not a chance in hell that the cops would let him live long enough to see a courtroom. And what's tragic, is that everyone knows that. What that says about America and it's police...I don't even...

Lol, we need to keep working Bear. One of these decades we'll get it!

Killer LAPD Cop’s Facebook Manifesto Has A Little Something For Everyone: Gawker This guy is all over the map.

Pro:
George H.W. Bush, Hillary Clinton, Chris Christie, Charlie Sheen, Gay, Gun Control, Anonymous, Django Unchained, 68F climate for your home, Tim Tebow,

Anti:
George Zimmerman, a third Hangover sequel, misandrist lesbian supervisors in the LAPD (?), Christian

He's not anti-Hangover III, just sad he'll miss it. No more sequels after that, though, it takes away from the integrity of the trilogy.

LAPD has a long history of being one of the most corrupt police departments in the country. While they are all fictional tales, Chinatown, LA Confidential, LA Noire etc etc etc, are all based on the true stories of corrupt LAPD behavior.

And that doesn't even get into the bullsh*t racial profiling they did with the gang problem in the '80s and '90s. Basically if you were a young black or latino male, and wore baggy jeans and a wife beater during that time, you're probably in their infamous Gang Database.

My father is in the LAPD and from some anecdotes he's given this story doesn't surprise me in the least.

On the NRA side of things, it's a shame that those officers forgot their guns that day. I'm not entirely sure what guns are, but in context of the NRAs announcements they are some sort of impervious bullet-proof shield that protects you from harm, right?

Gods know that's what many of my friends on FB seem to think.

Unrelated but interesting considering what everyone is saying about the LAPD lately.

Seven deputies who are members of a secret clique within the LA Sheriff's Department will be fired. Members were involved in an elite squad that operated in areas where gang violence is high, and received tattoos for each shooting of a gang member.

This is definitely one of the most interesting stories I've seen in years.

Soooo... the gang-enforcement squad formed a gang? Nice.

A secret clique is a thug's gang for gentlemen.

Freemasons with guns?

Even if they were unaware of the Rampart scandal that inspired The Shield, you'd think they'd be aware of The Shield.

Anderson Cooper says DVD received from Dorner contains testimony that may corroborate Dorner’s claims. [LA Times]

Man, those LA cops have a yellow stripe about a mile wide running down their backs, shooting civilians like that.

Those are some seriously cowardly motherf*ckers.

Now can we rethink the LEO exemption that's written into almost every gun control law?

Next up, how about we start rescinding legal and civil immunity just because one happens to be a government worker. Because if anyone else had shot at a vehicle just because it was a close match, they'd be in jail right now.

Would you favor the same rule applied to soldiers operating overseas? Should they be held to civilian standards on the use of force? Guys in uniform are always going to be held to different standards as the rest of the population because of their role in society.

As horrible as this story is becoming, maybe this will finally lead to meaningful reform of the LAPD?
