Grand Theft Auto V

I just sent a request to join the 4GWJ group. Not sure why I was removed. Motoxan will be sending one also.

All set!

As far as removal goes: I'm pretty sure I am the only person who could have done that, and I've never removed anyone -- I don't even really play, I just happened to be the guy who started the crew. Guessing it was a bug, if anything?

Lightning did you all ever find people to do heists? My non-goodjer buddy said he would play if it's during a weeknight.

Not anyone who is will to commit to all five heists. One heist a week would be perfect.

With me and him that'd be 4. Just post here or send me a message a few days ahead of time and we can work out the schedule.

Just sent a friend request via steam.

1Dgaf and I have been trying to go out on a technological limb and play something called 'co-op' in GTA V on PS4. GTA V was having none of it. We tried to join using the usual friend lists. We also tried to join via crew affiliation, which has been suggested as a fix. 1Dgaf even took a new character through the online tutorial to see if that was the problem but we had no joy. We must have tried every combination of server type and invite type with the same depressing result. Has anyone found another fix for this problem other than the two listed here or is there a glimmer of a chance that this might be fixed in a patch sometime soon?

Huh. I've played with a couple folks on PS4 via the crew and friends list, and it worked every time. I just went in and made an invite only session and then were able to join.

Shoot me a friend request (if we're not friends already) and I'm happy to help try it again.

Thanks. I will. Not tonight though. My, and 1Dgaf's, patience has been exhausted :).

Edit: We are going to have another run at it tonight (Co-oping with your friends in GTA V. It's the Dark Souls of co-oping with your friends.) If we see you on, we'll get you involved. if we're successful we might call on you for heists in the future :).

Edit 2: We did it. Suspend and resume seemed to be a problem. We also had to join each other from the PS4 party screen.

Oh ha, I didn't notice the time difference. I'm still at work, so I don't think I'll be able to join you on a weeknight (your time).

Glad it worked! Suspend/resume is problematic with a lot of games, I've actually turned off because pretty much any online features break when it's used.

I should have pointed that out. I'll keep an eye out for you at the weekends but we might not overlap much with our game times. Damn time zones.

Well, I just jumped in to GTA online. Friend me up if you have a PS4. The name is grenn.

Ok, just got the game today for PC as finishing the semester present and I want to going the crew.
What is the full name? I've searched under gjw and the options don't seem right.

Heh.

This was pretty great.

Just picked up GTA V for the PC. I've had my eye on this game for a long time as I haven't played GTA since III. Green Man gaming' sale finally hit the sweet spot for purchasing.
Any advice or recommendations to maximize the game experience? It's overwhelming the number of things to do and I thought Assasins Creed has many diversions.
I'll probably play until Fallout comes out in a few weeks so looking to p,ay through fairly quickly.

Thanks,
Chad

I also just bought GTA V during the GMG sale even though I didn't really like 3 or 4. The general consensus seems to be that V is the best of the bunch. I tend to find games like this repetitive so I'm mostly focusing on the main story missions and the ?s. I'll probably try each mini game once just to see what it is.

I'm still pretty early in. I'm not someone to just drive around the city - that gets old fast for me. The strength of the game seems to be the over the top characters and the dialog. Some of it seems pretty clever, the way it makes fun of certain aspects of society - such as the paparazzi and those who consume their work. The gunplay is OK.

IMO, it's at its best when it's copying a Michael Mann movie--which it does a lot. It's not as strong when it's mocking other parts of LA culture.

I want them to go back to Vice City next.

Oh god yes. VC is still my favorite! I hate going back to it just due to the gameplay issues (it's just old at this point). But the world/city building was so amazing.

I've done about 15 or 16 of the story missions and I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm getting tired of this. I just met Trevor and took care of his first mission. It's not that the actual characters aren't interesting or the dialog / situations kinda funny, but there is just so much boring stuff in between. There is still a lot of driving. Some of it can be avoided with the cab, but you still need to call one, wait for it to show up, etc. Maybe I'm approaching something wrong.

First purchase I regret in a while. Probably signifies the GTA formula isn't for me. Would definitely sell of we were still in the physical media days. It's not that it is horrible, but just an unnecessary addition to my gaming library.

If you are bored by all the driving around, then the GTA formula is definitely not for you. This is a game series that hinges on the driving fire and foremost.

I finished up the campaign with an overall percentage in the mid 60s. It had just enough good moments to keep me playing the campaign. For me, the strength was definitely the dialog / story. I've tried GTA III and IV and didn't make it far in either. Gameplay-wise, the best part was the shooting. The driving was OK when there was a point to it other than 'get across the city'. They did make it feel like a real city.

I didn't feel like the side activities were really worth doing - skydiving, tennis, strip clubs, races (driving, running, swimming, etc). I don't care about buying clothes or upgrading my car. I never went and bought anything from the weapon store unless it was part of a mission. While GTA V casts a wide net, I feel the elements are pretty shallow. It doesn't matter if you drive like a maniac or drive carefully - there really isn't any consequences for bad driving. Each character had skills, but I never needed to pay any attention to them. There were properties to invest in, but money never really mattered.

Is there anything I should try and make sure i do before uninstalling the game?

I would have been happy with the game if I paid around $15. At $30 it wasn't worth it to me.

Have you tried out the online play any? I actually played it more than the singleplayer.

No, I rarely play online. I usually like some story to go with the action.

I finished this on 360, only made it about half way through on PS4, never even bothered with the online portion. I've been thinking of jumping back into it to pass the time until Fallout 4 next week. I know at some point I was planning on going for 100%, but with the staggering amount of side content that may not be feasible.

News! "Grand Theft Auto V Expansion Announced" then I click through to see it's yet another multiplayer update.

Is anyone else disappointed at the total lack of single player, story based DLC? The DLC for GTA 4 were fantastic and i was really hoping to have something of that caliber for 5. It's like Rockstar is a dog that found it's (MP) bone and won't let go.

GTA V had multiplayer?

That's almost the only I played on PC and PS3 :\

Not at all. I disliked GTAV SP enough that I didn't finish it, but have been having plenty of fun with online, getting cars and such. Now I can customize the apartments of Penny, Super-Stylish Queen of Crime and 21st Century Gentleman Thief Charlie? Sweet.

I'm way too lazy to dig up the source, but Rockstar said quite a while back that there were no plans to offer any storyline/single player content in the future and that all development efforts were focused on GTA V Online.
