Grand Theft Auto V

Bewarned the 360 version might get you a possible console ban, PS3, Sony doesn't care. Either way Rockstar and Take Two are looking into matters.

Probably only if you publicize that you've got a copy, although Microsoft certainly has the capability to finding anyone who has spent a moment playing GTA V before midnight on Monday and slap them with the bannination. Can I be both wholly unsurprised that game shops are doing this and think it's kinda lame that they did?

Oh, and I preordered on the 14th. I'm hoping Microsoft keeps their word about release day delivery, now all I need is to renew my Xbox Gold for another year and my 360 will serve me till I'm on more stable ground next year.

It is going to be difficult to concentrate at work tomorrow.

I haven't said that about a game in AGES.

When does it come out on PC?

Which is precisely why a took a vacation day. I would have been a danger to myself and others without my mind on task at work tomorrow.

I don't know when the PC version will be out, but I'll be waiting until then. Well, waiting until people have played it a bunch and then R* releases a patch that makes it run properly on PC.

Microsoft does not ban anyone for early play unless they are also playing a pirated copy. Their stance on early play is generally "Well lucky you, have fun."

Yes please.

Now that is hilarious. Can't do that in SR4 for sure.

I'm tempted to buy it on the basis of the world alone and playing around in the world. The videos I've seen of what amounts to "NoCal" are stunning. I'm kind of in a mood to just go fly there. The above video doesn't hurt either.

I'm glad to see that they haven't fixed their cop AI.
"Okay guys, remember your training. As long as you ram and block the vehicle as if it was a regular car eventually enough of us will have blown up near him to damage the vehicle to the point where he will exit and make his getaway in one of our vehicles."

Granted, it's kinda more fun this way... and as soon as the PC port is available I'll most likely play it... but just once I'd like to see GTA cops treat armored or heavy vehicles with a little more respect. In San Andreas it was almost boring driving a tank. Cops and FBI vehicles would ram themselves to death without ever needing to be shot as long as you managed to keep moving forward.

That bulldozer gif has me pretty excited.

The reviews are not too bad.

While I am interested, I don't put much faith in reviews for this game. Like gta 4 and final fantasy games, the reviews will be high no matter what.

I think I can withstand my great desire to play this now and wait for the (hopefully-soon-to-be-announced) PS4 version. Though I do keep opening Amazon and almost clicking Preorder.

Man, I totally was strong about not ordering this until last night.

Microsoft points promo mojo....

They got so much right with RDR, i'm taking the leap of faith that this won't be like GTA4 for me. Booted up, failed second mission, never turned on again.

If it takes more from RDR, I'm so in.

I said i'm gonne wait for the pc version but this is gonne be hard.

Why not buy it for PS3....

I have a PS3....

I'm gonne buy it for PS3:)

Yeah, I got totally stung on IV, which I thought was a big step backwards from San Andreas. I'm not buying until I get to play it first.

Any news yet on which version is the better purchase? PS3 or 360? On work PC so I can't check myself.

Just got my tracking notice from Microsoft, on time for tomorrow:)

Interested, but waiting for the PS4 version.

Someone posted comparison shots between 360 and PS3 somewhere. I doubt there is a noticeable difference. But if you want to be sure you'll have to wait a couple of days for a more in depth comparison I guess.

I got the 360 version since they decided to sell it under 50 EUR today instead of the USP of 69,99 it is supposed to cost tomorrow. People carried the game out of the store in staples. I've never seen something like that happen since Burning Crusade came out.

Played four hours straight. Have no idea what I'm supposed to do next but saw a very strange movie in the cinema, towed some cars, aimlessly drove around and looked at advertising boards across the city, browsed the fake internet, watched some kind of reality show on the fake internet, went shopping for clothes, got a haircut and called it quits after taking a stripper home from a strip club.

Somehow being able to switch between several characters blurred the storyline a little. Not sure if I will be back tomorrow to be honest. But I never really got hooked by any GTA since III beyond an evening or two. Always fall into the hype trap though and HAVE to buy the damn game, lol.

When IV came out, there was ENDLESS arguing on the board I was posting on then about which would look best, down to the most minute technical details. And then it released and the comparisons clearly demonstrated a few pixels' difference in side by side comparisons. I expect something similar here.

Edit: Or I could be somewhat wrong.

Giant Bomb has a story about Rockstar warning 360 owners not to do the second, optional disc install.

GTA V comes with both an 8GB install disc and a separate “play” disc on Xbox 360. That initial 8GB install is required, and while you can optionally install the second “play” disc, Rockstar recommends against that for performance reasons. Once the mandatory install is over, the player does not have to ever swap discs.

I'm a tad jealous, I've been checking my order all day and it's still "In Process" I preordered way before their 15th deadline as well so I'm getting worried that I was sold a bill of goods I won't be receiving for a while. While that's good for my social life, since tomorrow is the local dollar movie meetup, it hurts me since Microsoft said release day delivery.

According to Rockstar disc 1 is the mandatory install disc and disc 2 is the play disc. It sounds like they are doing some tricksy stuff where they have the game load from HDD and DVD at the same time and if you install both discs to the HDD it actually causes stuff to load slower and thus affect the performance in a negative fashion. No idea if you can install to the HDD and say a Flash drive to get around having the disc spinning up like a jet engine all the time or not.

I'm debating renting GTA V tomorrow, then buying the inevitable PC release of the game. Looks like it'll be PS3 version for my house as far as the rental goes, since the wife wants to play (she's physically handicapped and can only use the Dual Shock controllers without too much trouble). The real test will be whether or not I can keep my stepson from stealing the damn game and costing me the $20 deposit.
