Grand Theft Auto V

360 for sure. Gonna hook my "talkie" headset back up for Diablo III, so I'll be ready to annoy you jerks when GTAOnline drops.

I've got the PS3 version on the way.

I'll be playing on PS3, most likely, though there's a chance I might get it for Xbox instead if some of my local friends express interest in GTA Online. My PS3 handle is Morganthaler.

I'm going PS3 version as well, since that's what the game has been shown on and also the wife HATES the Xbox controller and this will be one of the only games she'll try out. Can't wait for the GTAOnline stuff to come through to try out with you crazy Goodjers!

Im going PS3, but not day one, I want to hear reports back.
Ideally I'd like to hear reviews of the online component, but it drops a week later no? So im probably SooL there.

I'm gonna have to wait until PC, if that ever does actually happen

I might have missed it somewhere in the middle of this thread, but do we have a Google doc for each platform for people to start adding for GTAOnline? I need to add more Goodjers to my PS3 list for this last game to play with peeps on this old hunk of hardware. And also to carry over into PS4 (hopefully).

Side note: Still hope Sony has learned with PS4 to make it easy to add friends from website come Nov...

Yeah we definitely need a google doc so I can start adding you guys. I'm going PS3 since I sold my 360 awhile back.

There is the GWJ Usernames List. You could just add a new column for GTA V in the PS3 tab.. or the Logins per platform tab.

I'm going to get it for 360 but I'm not sure how soon after release.

Also: On my phone, so easiest way is to copy the link from Polygon. BUT: New GTA V trailer posted today. Shows off some decent character stuff. But also a neat look at the world. Spoilers for anyone that cares about knowing ANYTHING about the characters!

I will likely be buying it for the 360. Likely day 1.

360 for me as well

I was really hoping I could wait for PC, but looks like I'll be double dipping on 360 yet again.

After Saints Row IV, I'm not sure I can go back to GTA. I'm just not sure I can take the gangster thing serious anymore.

My hope is still that GTA V will get away from the type of story GTA IV told, which is essentially 25 hours of "I wonder when this ethnic white guy will betray me." I don't need GTA to became Saints Row's meta-silliness, but it does need to be something besides the worst mob movie ever made. The new trailer has continued my cautious optimism on this front.

Just pre-ordered. I'm in.

GTA 4 was, for all it's flaws, a unique game, and I'm looking forward to slowly chipping away at this one over the next year, while occasionally going bugf***-nuts with you bunch of reprobates (on 360) online.

Is there a Gamers With Jobs Crew already created on the Social Club? I have a crew of my own that I created for Max Payne (and in anticipation of GTA V) that I could offer up as an option... I expect to be pretty active on the PS3 (made level 10 in GTA IV multiplayer).

Second question - is it worthwhile to create a specific GTA: Online thread, as it's a separate thing and having a separate thread to schedule operations might be a good idea...

Game looks amazing. I was going to get it day 1 because the multiplayer looks insane, but then I read that the multiplayer will not be active till October 1. So I think I'll wait for that day, since I foresee most of my gaming with this to me the multiplayer wit all my friends. Still looks great, and still going to be a must buy for me, but maybe just not a day 1 buy.

I'm going for the PS3 version. I want to play the pc version but i can't wait to play this game.

I cancelled my Amazon preorder today to get the PSN version instead. It's a combination of the following:

- I've got no room in my heart for more disks
- I was playing Last Of Us within a couple hours of midnight, so maybe this will be as smooth

But mainly, it's that with PS4/Gaikai coming, I have to think that owning GTA V via PSN will increase my chances to just have it available to play there if their Gaikai magic actually works with PS3 games.

I've also opened this crew up to folks from the Straight Dope message board; it's called the Perestroika VIP Club, and right now its got a total membership of "Me." I think you can request an invite into the club; post here or if the Social Club gives you the ability, mention in the invite that you're from GWJ and I'll invite you in.

Also, I hope you can actually fly and aim the attack choppers this time around because CHRIST were those things worthless in GTA IV.

No kidding. Talk about "fixing" something that wasn't broken. The attack choppers in Vice City and San Andreas RULED.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am in a gaming holding pattern at the moment waiting for this release. I am such an open world junkie, and from the various bits that I've let myself see I'm anticipating it way too much. My expectations are way too high, and I know it, but I can't help it. God help me if it's as good or better than my damnable gut tells me it will be.

It's so funny that I'm so much more excited about this single game than anything else coming this year - be it movie, book, game, or new console. I am a massive open world junkie, I guess, and GTA games are definitely my cup of tea. The IGN hands on preview had a line in it that finally helped me see what it was I'm anticipating the most. I absolutely love feeling like a tourist. I love experiencing an open world that seems alive. No matter how people feel about GTA IV's story, I still think the game was amazing for the immersive world they built. It felt real, especially when I played it with the whole ENB phenomenon in full effect. It's this reason that I spent so many hours in Skyrim catching damn butterflies and picking flowers.....anyway, I had to share my excitement with someone.

You're all invited to my intervention if it gets too bad.

I'm with you. After playing Super Metroid over Labor Day Weekend I pretty much have nothing that I really want to play until this comes out (which is funny because I was kind of down on this game at first). I have a number of pile games but I don't think I could finish any before this comes out. I have just been cleaning all the demos I have downloaded off of my 360 lately.

The game I am looking forward to the most this year is Fable Anniversary though which is kind of sad since it is a remake of an old game. Watch Dogs looks great but I will hold out for the next gen version especially since it and Forza 5 are the only launch titles I am likely to get.

Do people still think this stuff is funny?

No, not really. It is just more of the same now.

I do think that the very last line hits something more interesting than the rest of it. But the general vibe of that seems to me like most of Rockstar's satire--it hovers around the target and calls it a day.

Have the PS3 version pre-ordered, Tesco better get it out to me on release. Was gonna hold off to see if they announced a PS4 version but I can't wait either, the world looks the most alive I've ever seen an open world from all the gameplay released so far. I'm so relieved they have fixed the shooting & cover system, when I went back to play GTA IV Lost & The Damned it was bloody awful after just playing The Last Of Us. The amount of activities they have for players to do is unreal, the tennis looks good, the cycling looks superb & the base jumping wawawewa.....I can imagine playing with 4-5 friends online & doing all sorts of crazy stuff together in this glorious open world!

I love this line. I imagine it seems like a stinging indictment of American life, if you've never read The Onion. Which is why I've so long LIKED the GTA series but never quite LOVED it; you don't get to pepper your game with lame dick jokes then think you can get away with biting social commentary. You kind of have to go one way or the other. Saint's Row went Full {ableist slur}, so I think GTA is going to have to continue to mature if they don't want to just coast on their laurels.
