ArcheAge: Catch-All

Throw in Druidpeak and it will be Age of Conan all over again - that was fun.

Must have been a different Druidpeak, I never play AoConan. ;)

Nope you are right. It was fang and Ranalin.

The skill system at a high level glance isnt that complicated and i can kinda see how it can be compared to Rift or other mmos. Thing is when you go back to that one picture i posted with the combos that tied them all together. It's crazily advanced beyond most other mmos out there. It's just tied to the mechanics of a slightly dated combat model.

I really cant emphasis the tie-in to combos enough. If you dont plan and make use of them then folks are going to become very dissatisfied with their output when compared to others.

Yeah I definitely need to get a handle on that combo system. Game is fun so far. Standard MMO combat. Haven't touched crafting, very pretty game. Reminds me very much of Rift.

Any recommended combinations, right now im running sorcery and witchcraft. Battlerage and shadowplay seem ideal.

What do you want to do? Up close and personal with melee or pew pew with magic or archery?

Give me some suggestions for both, maybe? I did like the sorcerer. Started dabbling with a battle guy when the server went down. I'm Ravenor and Eisenhorn in Game.

Yup, I'm sold.

That was hysterical.

Will this game play better with a Razer Naga? I mean the combos and everything.

Maybe... I suspect people are running something similar or some type of macro system because there's some buffs that keep showing up on people like they're on a timer regardless if they're in combat or not.

I'm only level 8 so the combo system isn't so complicated for me yet. I like my G15 keyboard for macros when it's time. Worked great in Rift.

Wow, my hype for this game went from 10 to 0 in less than a week. No real explanation either, maybe the nice weather has affected me. Still watching, and I'll definitely give it a go at release.

Their in game cash rewards for the founder's packs are generous. Unfortunately it is also pricing said founder's packs out of my impulse buy allowance.

Can't...stop....playing.

(at least not long enough to make a decent post about it)

Trek playing with you? I really need to hook up! (what side?)

I've been playing on the west. Only up to level 34. One thing that's annoying is that you almost have to treat your farm like a real one because i was out most of last week due to work and when i got back all my plants and animals were dead from the lack of upkeep.

That's kind of scary. You can't pay maintenance ahead of time to have "farmhands" magically do the upkeep in case you have to be away?

Not that im aware of here, but in KR i think there's a phone app that will allow that to happen.

I lost 5 sheep that start out at 1.5g each (gold is a bit hard to come by, I think i've had 105 at the most up to this point, and that was due to some AH maneuverings.)

One of the youtuber's Force's criticisms is that the PVE instanced content is weak (dungeon/raids.) How valid is that?

Compared to other themepark games. It's weak. The focus is all on the non instanced content which comprises 90% of the game.

Ran,

I'm playing pretty heavily. Let's get together. Is there a way to water other people's crops. Can we form a collective? Are you still on chat? I'm only to level 15 or so, but I've been playing around with a ton of alts.

Work has been keeping me tied up here lately. When I get on it's just for a few minutes to water/feed things and if i'm lucky a couple of quests in.

I certainly understand that. Can someone else help water crops, can a farm have partners or shared access?

I think so, but not sure of the rules yet.

Edit: I just checked and you can set your farm to folks in your family or guild to have access.

I also joined up with peaceandsunshine and their folks. They're the same folks I played Darkfall with and are a great group.

Judging by the Goodjer presence, this is a good crowd. They conducive with very casual players? The name would lead me to believe they are.

Oh most definitely! Seriously good folks. Spent almost all my Darkfall time with them and they handled all types just fine and have low tolerance for douchebaggery.

Yeah.. this post just about killed any interest I have/had in this game.

lol that's all optional. They give ya some introductory quests on how to go about it and then leave it up to you if you want to do it or not.

Crazy changes about to happen. The NA version of the 1.0 patch is about to drop.

First: Our version of 1.0 (basically, 1.0 with the changes we've gotten) will go to Alpha before it goes to Beta. We're getting pretty close on getting a build with the first set of changes to go to alpha (1.0 plus: removing bounty hunter cloak abilities, adding gilda stars to intercontinental trade routes, ping dependent ability changes being the big ones) and I really can't wait until we do so the discussion can be in the context of that build.

Second, there's some wider-picture things with gilda stars that I think are important to see as a system, which is hard to do without a build on Alpha:
- Nui's Tears have been removed. Mirage Isle items are sold for either gold or gilda stars (plans for houses/ships are all gilda to my knowledge).
- 1.0's daily quests guarantee gilda stars, not the random chance (these stars are limited by Time, a max number per day)
- Story quests now reward Gilda Stars instead (these stars are limited by Quantity, a capped number per char)
- Cross-continental trade routes can reward gold, gilda stars, or the new crafting items from 1.0 (these stars are limited by Risk Exposure, via PvP and level of trade activity at other ports)
- We've requested tweaks to the costs of designs on Mirage so that a player can obtain EITHER a sailboat and small house, OR a farmhouse, within the max gilda stars obtainable through the story quests (activities in PvE zones)
- Higher tier crafting recipes can now require dust made from Gilda Stars, providing a longer term demand once most house/boat purchases are settled

I hope that helps explain the Circle Of Gilda to be expecting to see for our initial 1.0 builds. As always, things have potential to change when working with a developer partner

And they've already fixing stuff from the patch except for the one piece that has the community in knots over.

ArcheAge to Launch with XLGames' Patch 1.2

If you've been following ArcheAge, you may have heard about a game update simply called Patch 1.0.

Initially released in Korea, this update has been the source of no small amount of concern from our ArcheAge community since we announced the game was coming to North America and Europe. Upon seeing the behavior of the patch's changes in the wild, the game's developer, XLGames, agreed that ArcheAge's balance and feel had shifted in an unintentional direction. Behind the scenes, we've been carefully following public feedback over the past few months, and had a chance to exhaustively test out the update on our own internal servers. While there are a number of gameplay improvements, we agree with their conclusion.

Both Trion Worlds and XLGames are eager to maintain the game's sandbox nature. Our mutual, overriding goal has always been to release the best quality, most fun experience possible. Toward that end, members of our ArcheAge Team visited XLGames this past week to discuss Patch 1.0. Together, we've forged the best possible path to launch for Trion Worlds' version of ArcheAge.

We're thrilled to announce that both Trion Worlds and XLGames have agreed that it's best for us go live with Patch 1.2's amazing improvements when we launch with English, French, and German languages in 2014. Launching with Patch 1.2 is a challenge as it adds over 70,000 words to translate. Since we want a complete English translation before introducing a larger audience to the game, this does mean that our Beta schedule has shifted by a few weeks. That means that we can't announce a specific date for the first Beta right now, but we wanted to get the great news about the game itself out as early as possible.

Patch 1.2 also introduces a host of exciting improvements on its own, including increased experience per Labor Point spent, a searchable crafting folio that works with recipe or ingredient names, significantly reduced (from Patch 1.0) glider turbulence on the high sea, and the ability to earn experience from crafting with maxed-out professions and participating in PvP during a war. Additionally, the Marketplace (in-game store) will be available before Beta begins and we'll grant testers sufficient currency to test it out. It's important to note that our previously announced game improvements such as international trade routes granting Gilda Stars, storyline quests earning experience, and trade packs dividing turn-in rewards 80/20 between pack holder and pack owner will persist through this update.

We're actively working with XLGames to bring our first build featuring Patch 1.2 changes to our Alpha server for gameplay testing and feedback. Since time is of the essence, we will not be holding this build back while waiting on complete translation, meaning that our Alpha testers will see partially translated content and will be asked to focus their feedback purely on how the gameplay feels. Rest assured, we do not anticipate the need to wipe the Alpha server for this update.

With this new game plan announced, the team is very interested to hear your thoughts and to be able to answer your questions. Our weekly livestream will be all about our visit with XLGames and the news revealed in this announcement. Ask your questions in this forum thread and then join us tomorrow afternoon on Twitch where we'll field as many as possible.

Our sincere thanks to each and every one of you for being a member of ArcheAge's pre-launch community. We're glad you're on this adventure with us!

The ArcheAge Team

Still looking forward to trying this out when it releases in the North American market.

I am totally over it. If I could get a cross between the questing in this with the combat of Black Gold Online, I would be a very happy man!

Otherwise both games have fallen flat after the first 15 hours.
