Spartacus War of the Damned

As much as I hate the idea of the wimp from The Mummy having sexy time with Xena, I must say I look forward to this show every week. I think they do a good job making you understand Spartacus' constant rage, and those who complain about the bad green screen in this show have never seen the terrible, terrible Sanctuary.

Anyhow, IMHO, it still beats 90% of what's on television, even when it is terribly gratuitous.

Spoiler:

Crucified with no penis? Slave-rape by the guy from the Mummy? Really? Really?

Spoiler:

Crucfiction was implied to be the follow up to the ineffectiveness of the decocking. Like following up beating with a phone book by waterboarding. I'm not sure you would have been able to rape a slave, legally I'm fairly certain it would have been seen as at worst proprety damage

Boy I didn't see that head bashing coming. They ride you along to the obvious place and then send out something out of this world. Oh and Mira was damn fine.

Yeah, this show spends a lot of time kind of winking at you and pointing at the obvious destination, and then throws you in the opposite direction.

It's still trashy and silly, but I won't deny that it's been really entertaining the last few weeks.

Son of a bitch. I hated what they did this week, but damned if it doesn't really change the dynamic of the show

Spoiler:

I really thought that Darro would be Spartacuses right hand man during the inevitable revolt, now I guess he's stuck forging an alliance with Crixxus.

I could have told you that , do we really need spoilers on a scriptover a millenia old?

Haha I know Crixxus becomes the other rebel general, but I just figured Darro would be involved. They have set up the new slave woman to be just like the woman in the movie Spartacus.

Yeah, shouldn't have read up on history. Totally ruined the surprise. That was still extremely hard to watch.

A spoiler is a spoiler guys, even if it's cliche.
Please spoiler spoilers.

This show is terrible but I can't seem to stop watching it... I guess that makes it awesome?

My feelings exactly.

While certainly not HBO caliber, it's entertaining and on Netflix.

Every week seems to have a shocking scene and makes me look forward to the following episode.

Werd.

When does Oenoemous (sp?) show up?

I thoroughly enjoyed last week's episode. This is turning into some quality show.

I think there are only two episodes left, from what I hear though.

And there will probably be a delay on any more while the dude playing Spartacus goes through treatment for Lymphoma.

Yeah, looks like the story is finally heading towards the climax after this week. One episode is probably enough to bring this arc to its predictable conclusion, but there's got to be more afterward, right? I greatly underestimated the complexity of the plot, and was glad to be proven wrong by this week's episode.

They've given everyone important a reason to fight now, that was a slick way to tie it all up.

Spoiler:

Scary black dude with the whip being angry with Battiatus now makes it a lot easier to get real weapons. Next week should be a bloodbath.

I think we can all agree with the moral of the story so far:

Spoiler:

when you have a henchman do something to get someone on your side by making someone else take the blame, for the love of gods make sure that henchman is never seen again.

sh*t just got real.
Again.

Every episode really does leave me waiting for the next. I agree with the spoilers. I had not read up on the history purposely and then find the conclusion here. At least I didn't read it until I'd seen the setup for it.

Spoiler:

SO MUCH BLOOOOOD.
Also, Asher is definitely my favorite character. Sure, he's a bit of a douche but he's so cunning and without him the show wouldn't be nearly as interesting. Was also nice to see that kid get what he deserved from Varo's wife. She killed the crap out of him.

heres my take..

Spoiler:

The one thing I found iffy was the transition from "we killed everyone, f*ck yea" too, "we killed everyone, f*ck yea, now lets go kill a LOT more people". Why do the other gladiators want to so willingly take on Rome, I hope they flesh it out a little more. The wife of Varro going batsh*t on the kid was great, all in all, you felt like justice was mostly done. I was ok with Archer escaping, since he's got crazy eyed black guy on his ass now.

Still have to watch the last one... can't wait!!

Again.

That's about the best way to sum up this series so far. I finished episode 12 and holy h*ll, did sh*t get real. Again.

This series makes no sense. The acting is questionable, dialogue stunted and the CGI amateurish. But do they ever know how to make a story in incredibly captivating 1-hour chunks. Also, boobies! Cannot wait for the finale.

Weirdly enough, I thought Neira and Mira were the same girl until the end of 12. So when Xena was talking about Neira's chastity, I was pretty confused.

Same, though I figured it out a bit sooner.

All the names sound familiar.

Silly Romans and their highly similar names.

That was an amazing season finale!!

You know, I thought the dialogue got waaaay better from beginning to end. The dialogue was pretty poetic over the last few episodes. I'm pretty sure that this show got greenlit because it was sex, boobies, and blood, but at the end, it was turning on its dramatic screw some without falling into a tongue-and-cheek parody of itself.

That was one of the more awesome season finales I've seen in a while. This show may be fairly silly, but it's well paced and the writing definitely seemed to improve steadily over the entire first season.

And bonus points to the guys behind this show for having the guts to follow the story and not keep certain characters simply because the actors/actresses were excellent in their roles. The story kept promising certain things and they actually did pretty much all those things in the season finale.
