Pokemon Gotta Catch-Em-All

Am I the only one that often closes the DS and walks away once I catch a Pokemon? I know that I can change the nicknames whenever I want, but I still put way too much thought into their names. Right now I am contemplating SteveIrwin or Capt Hook for my Sandile.

Any Black players want to trade their Cottonee for my lily-something (black exclusive and its white counterpart)?

I also met a lady that offered to massage my pokemon once a day. Looking online this apparently increases their happiness. Why exactly do I care about that? I saw that some pokemon only evolve once their happiness levels get high enough. If that's not an issue then why do I want happy pokemon?

The only other reason I think besides evolution of certain pokemon is that a few moves actually are stronger or weaker depending on the happiness of the pokemon using them.

I can do that, Yonder, but mind that I'm half Puerto Rican and Australian.

I'm free for the rest of the night, so just post a time here and I'll break down my wireless security to get this sh*t goin'.

Awesome, how about two hours from now?

Sounds good.

I can give you the other exclusive I've reached so far too, Gothita. Weird looking Psychic type.

Ok, should I just give you something random, then I'll owe you the White version when I find it?

Oh dang, I'd love to get my hands on one of those. I can offer the White equivalent in return....the psychic cell dude thingy....Solosis!

We should start breeding our starting pokemon so everyone can get a full set.

Does anyone have a female Snivy? I'll donate my male one (actually the first evolution) to you to get us started.

I have a female Oshawott, if anybody wants its spawn.

Something random is fine, no debt needed really.

Ready when you are. Just so I'm clear, I talk to the middle booth lady upstairs in the Pokemon Center, right?

I'll be registering others' codes in the meantime.

I thought we were supposed to go to the one on the right. There is a Trade Rendezvous thingy there but I don't know how it works. I tried to get to you through my Friend Pad but that doesn't seem to do anything either. Maybe we should meet on Vent?

Awesome, thanks very much Blind, let me know if you want my Throh too (for Sahk/Sawk).

The right side is for strangers only, I believe.

I uh, don't have a microphone. My laptop has a built in one but nobody can ever hear me on it. I haven't needed PC-to-PC comms since like 2006 <,<

I looked at the info thing, it says go in the middle one and if we're both in the console at the back of the room should let us know that we're online and allow us to enter the same room.

Well that worked out. I hadn't caught a Sewaddle.

I don't have a spare Sawk, unfortunately. Mine has an important item on and is a part of my team, temporarily at least.

Throh and Sawk...they must be getting desperate on the puns.

Ah ok, well anything then, THinking about it Throh isn't a hard guy to find, I just had some bad luck at first, so I'll take whatever, You could just give me my Sewaddle back if you wanted.

I hear the ice cream cone is quite good.

Pleasure trading with you, thanks for being so generous. I like my Throh a lot, he's quite powerful, hope you do too.

No prob, thanks as well. I'll see about catching a Sawk to give you next time. I also had a Boldore that I wanted to evolve, but it apparently was caught with an Everstone on, so it wouldn't have worked.

I also took a look around the Global Trading System, and it really made me want to get to the endgame and get my 3DS so I can transfer my huge vault of Pokemon from Pearl and Soulsilver over to Black.

One thing that's bugged me since the wee early Pokemon games, and still does: I don't understand why the Cut skill isn't super effective against Grass Pokemon... it surely SHOULD be, amiright?

When somebody with Black version gets to the point where you can catch Vullaby, let me know. It's the only current generation pokemon (besides a couple of the legendaries) that I don't have access to see (I need to see the wind legendary Tornadus as well so I can snag one off the Global Trade).

Damn you guys are super far ahead of me.

I just reached the city with the third gym and my guys are all about level 20. So uh...yeah.

I should be there sometime tomorrow, watch the thread and I'll let you know when I get a couple. Rufflet in return? Their evolution looks badass.

Actually, now that I look it might not be til Sunday. I'm at Mistralton City right now. Kinda depends how long it takes me to find a friggin' Tynamo.

I just cleared out that gym a few minutes ago. I'm not that far ahead of you...

Sure, I've got a Rufflet sitting around in my PC anyway.

I wouldn't sweat that. Pokemon games are very different experiences for different people. I'm taking this one a lot slower than normal, taking time to explore, level Pokemon I don't plan to use long-term, generally chill out and let the game flow over me. It's been very enjoyable. I think I'm at 35 hours or so, in the last few generations I was at the endgame by that point. I still have 3 badges left to get.

God knows I need to relax with the game until I hit end-game. The party combos possible with 649 choices is daunting.

That's like saying scissors should be able to cut scissors in paper, rock, scissors... kind of.

But Cut cuts down entire freakin trees in 1 hit outside of battle without even leaving a stump behind! Why can't I do the same to a dinky little Sewaddle?!

A tree doesn't have the love and support of its trainer giving it sustenance, duh.

Unless it's that one rock pokemon.

Because Sewaddle is way cute to but cut! (BTW I am depressed mine upgraded to some ugly thing with a leaf cloak)

I am just through the 3rd gym as well. Stepped onto route 4 and saved. I am equal with you guys!

Has anyone else gotten the "cannot access saved game, turn off power and replace cartridge." error? I've gotten it three times so far, once when I tried to save after an hour and a half of fighting trainers and capturing Route 4 Pokemon.

I'm wondering if I've got a bit of an untrustworthy cartridge, but I can't return it because it has my saved game on it!

Quick, transfer all your pokey mons to me for safekeeping!

(and nope, haven't gotten it. That sounds frightening)
