Pokemon Gotta Catch-Em-All

God, do I sound like this when I talk about Pokemans?

Pro tip: When hunting dust-cloud or shakey-grass Pokemon, the easiest way is to pop a repel and walk around until they spawn. Assuming your lead is higher than the local fauna, of course.

I hate to be a copycat but I think I'll be using Murder Mole as well. I'll have the evolved form soon enough and 11 type advantages vs. 4 weaknesses is hard to pass up.

Also, that Leech Seed + Sturdy combo in the video is probably overpowered as hell.

He's growing on me as he levels. He's kicking a good deal more ass now.

I have my murder mole in my group now because he does the job and not because I think he's hilarious looking.

Lucky, I have to head back there. I gave up after trying for a couple hours. Did you happen to catch him at night? I was wondering if my bad luck was because I was trying during the day.

I caught mine in the middle of the night. Just walked up to the little animated dirt pile and beat him up and stuffed him in a ball. Don't care much for him though, despite his smile.

ZOMG, I named my Throh JackieChan too!

Just got my 2nd gym badge, and been having awesome luck with Blitzle (Thundrpony) so far. He zaps the sh*t out of most anything.

I went for Thor with my Throh, I don't know why, but it seemed to fit best but I seem to recall naming a Hitmonlee JackieChan once. Also, my Blitzle just learned a fire type move (Man I needed that! (started with Snivy >_<)) is there any chance its evolution is a Fire-Electric type? Because that would be awesome.
I'm saddened by Purrlion's skill set/stats, I was hoping it was going to be my Luxio (which ended up being my highest leveled pokémon in the last game (Heart Gold/Soul Silver don't count)), [sigh] oh well, I'm sure there are plenty more goldeens in the sea ;).
In any of the other renditions of Pokémon, I've never forced an evolution to cease until White, Lillipup has provided me with some excellent items that I can't even buy yet (2nd badge is all, and I'm seeing Ultraballs). I've denied it 4 lvls now, and am not sure I want to keep doing it for the sake of having a decent contender, thoughts?
Lastly, and semi-unrelatedly, Pokemon (when spelled as shown) doesn't trigger my spell check as misspelled :P.

Okay, so I beat the game a few days ago and mass transfered my collection from the previous generation of games. I have access to all the generations' starters, a good number of the legendaries (with multiples of some of them), and a good majority of the rest. If there's a particular one anybody wants, let me know and I'll breed some up.

If you do have 2 DS's you can transfer certain things before ending the game, I think. The 3 legendary dogs and Celebi that were given out over January-February, specifically. They tie into the quest to get a Zorua, I believe.

I guess I can do that on Sunday when I get my 3DS

How do you transfer stuff over? Is there some strange apparatus you use, or do you just need 2 DSs?
Edit: I know you have to beat the game to xfer stuff to it, but can I xfer stuff from my unbeaten copy of Platinum?

Edit #2: Dhelor, have you got a Celebi I could borrow for a bit, so I can snag Zorua, Or better yet, just a baby Zorua?

Yes, I do fall to peer pressure easily!

I chose the water guy first, he was by far the cutest of the 3 I could pick. I would also like to thank Lawk and Oily for my lack of sleep and how tired i have been. I hate you both!

Like every good 12 year old girl playing Pokemon, I went with the cutest one, so I'm saddled with grass for now

My Lillipup is fairly badass at level 12, though.

I just took down the first gym; haven't played more than a couple of hours yet.

I really liked Lillipup as well. He was the first pokemon I dropped once I hit 7, but that was just because I wanted a high variety of pokemon and generally don't use normals. He was my strongest combat pokemon at the time.

Traded Pokemon level faster, right, or am I remembering that wrong?

That's correct, but I don't know if it's permanent or an effect that wears off.

There's a place you go to after beating the game called the Poke Transfer Lab that has a minigame that lets you transfer pokemon from the porevious generation to this one, but yeah, you need two dses to do it. You don't have to have beaten the previous generation game to do so though.

As to the Celebi, I have a bunch. I'd be more than happy to give you one so you can get a Zorua, just set a time.

I could give you one of the shiny legendary beasts too so you can get a Zoroark as well (separate events using the Celebi and a shiny Entei/Suicune/Raikou).

Permanent.

I can't get any of these cool beasts prior to beating the game can I?

I'm available pretty much all night tonight.
Do I need something to trade in return to complete the transaction?

They were all given out at Gamestops over the last 2 months. I have 2 Suicunes, 2 Raikous, and Celebi on SoulSilver and Pearl.

Yeah, you'll need some kind of pokebody. I don't care what, just go snag a couple low level whatevers to act as trade fodder.

EDIT: I'll be hanging around in the Wifi Trade room thingy whenever you're ready to do the trades.

I wanna hang out too but left my DS at work :/

Someone got the short end of that deal, and it wasn't me!
Thanks a ton Dhelor!

Heh, no prob. Besides, I have my ways of getting more... >_>

And no, not cheating ways. ^_^

Finally put my stuff on the spreadsheet.

He's saving all the strong ones for himself, don't let him fool you.

The Global Link system is delayed without a date as a result of the Japan disasters. I hadn't paid much mind to it, but it sounds like some kinda neat stuff.

The Global Link is a neat addition that’ll allow registered users to access to the Pokémon Dream World, a place that gives you the opportunity to talk to other players, find unique items, and obtain new Pokémon for your copy of the game. The Global Link will also be host to the Global Battle Union, a service that lets you fight other players online via Wi-Fi and records match results.

Well, no trading for me for a while - our wireless router has apparently kicked the bucket. Ahh well.

EDIT: scratch that, it's fixed.

[Pokemon Battle Play-By-Play]

Been following this thread, and that video has sold the game on me more than anything else in here. Not that you guys weren't doing a great job, mind; The battle sequence just looks quite slick and I found myself eventually just muting the audio to get a better perspective of it.

Still not completely convinced, but I've spent money on much worse things.

Am I the only one that often closes the DS and walks away once I catch a Pokemon? I know that I can change the nicknames whenever I want, but I still put way too much thought into their names. Right now I am contemplating SteveIrwin or Capt Hook for my Sandile.

Any Black players want to trade their Cottonee for my lily-something (black exclusive and its white counterpart)?

I also met a lady that offered to massage my pokemon once a day. Looking online this apparently increases their happiness. Why exactly do I care about that? I saw that some pokemon only evolve once their happiness levels get high enough. If that's not an issue then why do I want happy pokemon?

RAYCIST

I heard that massage has a happy ending. Denying my Pokemon this luxury hadn't even crossed my mind. Though I suppose I could use it as a motivational tool.
