NHL 2012-2013: Tentative deal early Sunday January 6

All I can say is wow. Complete domination.

15-2..... this is like a dream.

My Kings are going to win the Stanley Cup!

Well, every Kings fan can thank me now. I lived in LA for 7 years and only after I leave do they make it to the end.

I know! It's now a matter of, "will they be able to sweep and tie the '88 Oilers or not?"

IS THIS FOR REAL?

A year ago, I would have put being able to seriously ask that question on the same level of probability as my wife coming into the room and saying, "honey, Karen Gillan is coming over, and I think we should have a threesome!".

After years and years of unmitigated goaltending agony, to have Quick now is... amazing. One must apparently suffer a litany of Hrudeys, Fisets, Potvins, and Garons to get a Quick.

Man, what the hell do the Canucks still have to do then?!

To think that LA put up a 12-2 record versus the top 3 seeds in the west makes it even more impressive. It's not like they got a bunch of lucky breaks.

LA fans doing their best to make NJ feel at home:

I told my wife at the beginning of the season that this Kings team was the best Kings team ever. She laughed at me. I just looked back an compared the skill, the youth and veteran leadership of this team to the best Gretzky years. I thought this was a deeper team.

I may have been drinking the Kings kool-aid but I now know my assessment was true. But only because Terry Murray was finally fired and Sutter was hired. And I have been mentioning this over and over again to my wife. haha.

PS you must have forgotten the Chekmanek and LaBarbara years....

Bailey is the best mascot ever. He was holding an ET sign vs the Blues....

They may have been the best Kings team ever at the start of this season, but they didn't seem to become much of a threat leaguewide until the trade deadline. And now Dustin Brown has come to resemble Ghengis Khan.

It was the best King's team ever once Carter was acquired.

Hopefully the Kings win tonight. I would love to see the two drunks and a fatty line pose together with the Cup.

Too soon for me; need another game or 3 so there's even less of a break before the draft. Maybe all the Kings fans have had better things to do than dissect every single potential draft pick, but as a miserable Wild fan I'm all talked out on draft picks. It's okay to win, just let 'em extend it a day or two, please?

Some of my fellow Devils fans still think they can win the Cup. They must be smoking some of that crack stuff. If they do, I will eat a bowl of poop.

I think this is the first time in my life that I'll start rooting for New Jersey

Wow what a crap call. With everything else that has been allowed that was just horrible.

PAR

Ahhhhhhhh.... Better to be up 3-1 than down 3-1 .

Four games to one? Er, didn't the Devils win two?

That they did!

Congrats to the Kings! Nice to see a team that has been around a long time without much success win. Even happier to see Willie Mitchell win it. He's one of the good guys.

True dat. Congrats Kings, that was a heck of a run.

And if you have to lose, Canucks, lose to the best (three times running—always a bridesmaid, never a bride!).

And the Kings take the Cup, 4 games to 12.

Way to go LA!!

Edit - Whoops, my bad.

Yup, although MST3K ruined him for me. It is physically impossible for me to hear the announcer say his name without me saying, "MITCHELL!"

And as if to leave no doubt, they won in dominating fashion.

Its crazy that I remember them when they wore purple and gold like the Lakers. I remember the Gretzky trade.

The Stanley Cup in L.A., its kinda unbelievable!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaa... Wooooooooohooooooooo

So this is how it feels to follow a team for 24 years and finally win the championship.

Go Kings go!

Congrats to the Kings, they deserved it.

The Devils really handed the game over to the Kings. They completely imploded after that boarding call, which I think was well deserved. The guy had every opportunity to slow down or even avoid hitting him. Stupid play.

Gratz King's fans! Seriously, their run was one of the most dominating I've seen in the playoffs in a long time. Pretty much everyone on the team was playing top notch including their MVP.

Enjoy, if things happen like they usually happen in the off season, the 2012/2013 Kings wont look anything like they do now.

Well I hope I am wrong Its just very unusual for a team to win the Cup and NOT have massive salary cap / trading issues arise in the off season.

That is where the Kings don't have a problem.... Kopitar, Richards, Brown, Doughty, and Carter are all signed long term. The only one they need to sign is Quick. And they have enough coming off the books in Penner and Stoll's contracts to do it. Plus they announced a big deal with Fox Sports West which guaranteed 21 Million a year for broadcasting rights.

There is no need to break up this team. The biggest trade they will possibly make this off season is Bernier, the backup goalie.

Biggest concern will be health and hangover. But there's absolutely no reason to think about it now. Enjoy the victory and the memories.

I think I am going to skip work and go to the parade on Thursday. Only problem is that i just took off 3 weeks. But my boss is not around this week.
