How'd that work out for you? :P

Kinda crappy.

Man another loss for the Jets, only 2-0 vs the Sharks mind you but damn we have to turn this around!

The new Molson era of the Habs begins like the old one ended: Panic-trading one of the marquee players because he didn't like the insane head-coach behind the bench and made it known publicly.

The injury situation has been dreadful (6 games with the roster of healthy players above the cap floor) but between the coach firings (the Martin firing shook my faith) and now this it's been a clusterf*ck of a season.

I never liked the Jacques Martin hiring and was glad when he was fired, even though Cunneyworth is probably worse at least we can now get a replacement for him. I used to really like Cammaleri but it became apparent he had attitude problems and was no longer interested in playing. Stories are now surfacing about how he was quite upset he wasn't offered a C or A after his first season, and his play since his first season as a Hab bears that out. I think he was checked out and management probably would have had to bend over backwards to make him happy. Instead we get Bourque, who I think will produce just as well for half the price.

Let the Rebuild begin!

I know I know..... You guys would likely end up blocking all my posts if they were in the same conference.

Dysplastic, for the record I did not mean for the rant to be a slam on the fan base. I don't really have a problem with the Canucks fans at all...

Appreciate that. I actually have a really hard time reconciling how much I enjoy the city of Boston, people from Boston, and New England in general with my general distaste for sports teams from that area. It's cognitive dissonance that tweaks me the wrong way. Couldn't you guys be more dickish? It would really help me out.

I kinda thought we had that locked down.... but I'll bring it up at the next meeting.

The only fan base I truly dislike are Yankee fans to be honest. Like the players, respect the management, hate the fans. Kind of the opposite of with me & Vancouver.

Vancouver is a good team. Boston is a good team. You are very big hurdles, to each other, on the road to sports happiness. You're supposed to have some hatred for the team that can possibly beat you. That's what sports are all about.

I'll never hate a person just for their sports affiliation, but I'll definitely dislike a team. I'll dislike the very fact that the team exists. I'll dislike the way their players play. I'll dislike their announcers. I'll dislike the things their fans say about the team I like.

It's sports. We invest ourselves in it. We're supposed to defend our chosen teams like they're our children. It's amusing to me when things start getting petty. Sure, it's stupid, but, that just means that people care. About hockey. The sport I love. f*ck yeah. Hate the Red Wings and all their players! Because, if you do, that means you love some other team. Which means you love hockey and we can be friends. We can hate Boston together. Or we can hate Vancouver together. Let's do this!

That being said, Marchand and Kesler offset each other on the scumbag factor. kiss kiss

F*cking deadwings...

I like St Louis. They give us lots of points every year.

LA vs Vancouver tonight. Big game, my Canuckian friends... LA still with only 1 regulation loss with Sutter. (too many OT/SO losses though) Will it be a SoCal sweep in Rogers Arena tonight? I am sure Vancouver will play hard tonight.

St Louis.. 1st in West... A team's team.. No player in the top 30 in scoring... No #1 goalie. Impressive.

The Jets beat Ottawa last night 2-0, it was great to see them play the type of game we knew they could play. Here's hoping they can do the same in New Jersey and come out with another win. These 7 games they play before the all star break (including last nights) are hugely important as they are all eastern division teams. Every regulation win is a 4 pt swing.

What does it take to get a goaltender interference penalty? Ottawa has scored twice so far tonight while bumping into Reimer. This second goal had Alfredsson sitting on Reimer. Seriously? That's not a problem?

Oh god the Jets are getting brutalized in New Jersey! 4-0 and we still have a period left. Yikes!

Bruins & Lightning are doing their best to re-fight last spring's playoff series in one game tonight. I don't understand how a team with that much talent has such a poor record! Is Tampa Bay's goalie really that bad?

Tampa Bay's been bad outside the crease as well and it's not like they've suffered Pittsburgh-level crippling injuries either (Tampa is bottom-half in the league in Cap-hit lost to injuries as of end of December).

I don't understand how they could go from so good last year to so bad this year. Lecavalier's taken another big step back but there are some good players there and I think Boucher's a good coach.

Edit:

Darren Dreger's list of Habs' GM candidates to replace Pierre Gauthier included Jacques Martin, John Ferguson Jr., and Pierre McGuire. I'm going to go cry in a corner out of fear in case the stopped clock is right.

Pierre McGuire! JFJr!

JFJr should be head of scouting for some organization if he isn't already. But the man should never be writing contracts. He gave out some heinous ones while he was GM of the Leafs.

It's Tricky...Tr-tr-tr-tricky Trrrrrrrrrrricky!

WTF? Obviously he did something to that stick that allowed him to pull the puck back onto the stick but what? You can see that whatever it was pulled the tape off the stick when he yanked it back.

Oh there we go, you can see he has fishing line attached to the blade, must have had some glue or something that stuck it to the puck. LOL

Fishing line, I believe. It was a skills competition, and done as a joke. But it was pretty cool.

Hopefully Tarasenko will be wearing the Blue Note next season.

Great game.

The Jets lose another one. This time in a shootout, so we still get 1pt. Not good enough as far as I am concerned. Florida played in Chicago last night, a late game because of bad weather. They only got in at like 3am and we outplayed them for most of the game. Yet we had 3 god awful turnovers that handed them 3 goals! Grrrrrr! This last part of the season is going to be nerve wracking!

Crazy shoot out though, I think it took Florida 6 shots to finally win it.

Though I know Montreal has no chance of making the post-season, and it's been a disaster of a season both on and off the ice, DAMN it was fun watching them smoke the Red Wings yesterday. Some fluky goals, combined with some great plays, made for a very entertaining game.

I'm actually somewhat optimistic for next season. (Is it too soon to be saying that?) I hope that the style of Bourque, Cole and Pacioretty is indicative of the direction that this team is going, and needs to go, in order to shake the soft/small reputation and play with some edge. What we really need more than anything is a healthy #1 defenceman to take the attention away from Subban. The kid is 22 years old and the fanbase and media expect him to play like a veteran superstar because of his potential, and the fact that we don't have anyone else who can play at that level. With Markov injured, all the focus is on him. No wonder he's cracking under the pressure. Either Markov needs to play, or they need someone else who can eat the attention and the minutes and just let Subban develop.

Visnovsky might be available, he has another year on his contract as well. Cap-hit is a very reasonable 5.6m. Ryan Whitney might be pried out of Edmonton but I doubt it.

Whitney's foot injury worries me - it's Forsberg-esque. I expect Edmonton to overpay for Suter though, so who knows?
Visnovsky could be a good fit.

Hehe, I doubt Suter would go from a winning team in a great city to Edmonton.

There's no doubt that Edmonton would have to overpay, but I seriously think they WILL overpay and offer more than Nashville may be able to (or want to) match. They have cap space and Katz is willing to spend.

If Lidstrom decides to retire, Suter could be wearing Red & White next year. Depends on how much money means to him. The allure of Detroit's ownership and players is strong, but the Wings won't overspend.
