Planetside 2 Catch-All

Looking at these screen shots, I doubt I'll be fighting in a 300+ person battle like I did in Planetside.

Yeah, I'm not sure my computer will handle some of these graphics. It chugs on Portal 2 when you're looking into a portal.

Hopefully it'll run at lower graphics settings. I like the Covenant style appearance of the Vanu.

Sony make it happen! I will definitely need an up grade for this one.

I get the impression that either these are not the final models, or they just aren't going to let large battles occur.

Go here for beta signups!

Yay! I will cross my fingers to get in.

And signed up.

I'm signed up. I also discovered that someone else has used my email account as the email for a Sony Station account already (apparently my old Planetside account is long gone). Should be interesting.

woot!
i too no longer seem to have an original planetside account.

I too am signed up after retrieving both my station login and my password.

Signed up!

Is there a way to merge two Sony Station accounts into one?

Tried using the forgot account function.

"According to our records you have already used this function in the last 24 hours."

Errr.... Can you guys try that out just to make sure its not just me?

EDIT: Well I tried again with noscript off and it worked. It may have been because sony.auth.com was being blocked.

Are you sure its not yourself? When I retrieved my account names it turned out I had 6 of them on the same email. I vaguely remember making new accounts when I couldn't remember the old ones to do things like play the Everquest 2 trial or the Planetside Reserves program.

I'm so not gonna be able to run this game at max settings.

Today's issue of PC Gamer magazine has Priority Access Beta Keys inside.

You register on Planetside2, and in a few months(?) when Priority Beta opens, you're in.

Well worth the $8.99 if you can find a copy.

Looks like the beta page crashed.

They are claiming sony maintenance.

Well, in fairness it IS a Tuesday, which is the usual day for MMO patches.

There's a decent PC Gamer - story description from the developers on grabbing a base.

Also photos.

On Tuesday, March 6, some folks from the Planetside 2 dev team are supposed to be at the Thirsty Bear in San Francisco. I'm headed there with one of the people from Planetside Universe. Anything you guys want me to ask them?

Ha, been to a bar named Thirsty Bear in Manhattan years ago

I wonder if there will be single seated vehicles as well?

Ask them if we will be able to look around when doing a hot drop. Instead of the camera being locked to third person facing the player. Rather sucked for situational awareness when dropping into a live combat zone I must say...

Amusingly you could actually get around that by pulling out a weapon, but that wasn't possible for MAX pilots.

Planetside-Universe has a video and some write ups of my most anticipated multiplayer shooter.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Class-based, team-focused multiplayer shooter with persistent world changes/effects that last from game to game to game. A massive world to play on. Night battles looking like something from a James Cameron sci-fi movie.

That calls for a IMAGE(http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab221/Strangeblades/Planetside%202%20Catch%20All/squeee_by_jj_o2-d2ybkyl.jpg)

Yeah, definitely going to need to have it on lower settings.

They seem to be imitating the Halo style of art very much, though that's not completely a bad thing.

Wow, that looks amazing. The entire thing looks really polished. Really impressive for a genre which is usually clouded with "almost done" releases.

They mention in-game cosmetic stuff will be available to buy via their online store (the game is free to play right?). It made me consider what I'd actually pay money for; if you could get some kind of custom skins for the flying vehicles (particularly transport ones) it might actually be the first time I spend money on that kind of thing.

I'm more worried about network code and how laggy it might be with hundreds of players on at the same time. Maybe they will break up the continent/shard so your computer doesn't get the info for what is happening to individuals ALL over the map at the same time? You'll only get sent data packets (or whatever) to those players who are in your vicinity.

Also new graphics card seems to be in the works for me.

Yup. You can buy skins, colours, etc. You can also buy alternate weapons to your basic loadout. Alternate they said, not more powerful. Or you can simply play longer for in-game resources to unlock them.

When my game-buy-ban lifts in July I will definitely be checking out some of those skins, colours, etc. Notice I said GAME-buy-ban. Not VIDEOCARD-buy-ban.

I've got a slightly used 6870, I could sell ya. You could Crossfire then.

Uh. Er. Umm. *nervously shuffles feet* Uh, no. That's all right. You know.. You know I really don't need another 6870. *cough* Um, is it hot in here? Wow, would you look at the time? *checks empty wrist* Gotta go! *scampering feet are heard*
