Planetside 2 Catch-All

Had a blast all day today playing this with Quantum Dawn. We had about 36 people doing ops as a unit and it's really awesome being organized in this game. They seemed to help out the newer goodjers with everything they needed. Going to have to ask SpyNavy and Laarrs that specifically though. They mostly hopped in cold turkey and I think they enjoyed themselves.

That's the RivalXfactor vids I was mentioning above all in one place.

Downloaded this tonight from steam but anytime I try to start the game from the launcher the game crashes.

Edit: Figured it out, on windows 8 you have unplug the 360 controller other wise it will crash the game at launch.

Alright finally finished and got to playing. First off it seems like they add a lot of nice stuff and tweaks to the came. Like getting xp for spotting people, and the warning sound when your low on health. Why this stuff wasn't rolled out before so we could test it, beats me. The game seems less stable, and more issues then usual going on. Also the got rid of the grenade launcher attachment, I'm going to miss that a whole damn lot. It was awesome, which is probable why they got rid of it...

okay going back in for a bit.

Alright, just to be clear, are we all (mostly all) playing on the Waterson (East) server? I don't care what side I play I just wanna hang out on the same server and listen to Goodjer chatter on Vent.

Judging by the spreadsheet which should be up to date, pretty much everyone is on Waterson. Was there playing a bit, Vanu managed to lock the snow continent. Also I really miss all my stuff. I can't even afford the sunderer spawner yet. Ok I could but a reflex scope is nicer.

Hmm. Fun, but I need an outfit. Any more recommended NC ones on the west coast? SturmGrenadier? Bear?

I'm rolling with NC on the west coast. Connery server.

I wish station cash purchases were not server specific.

If anybody from the EU wants to play and wasn't in the beta, you might be experiencing some slight problems, such as not being able to play at all. If that's the case, the workaround is to create a new account at SOE and choose the United States as your country, so that you don't have to use the ProSieben Sat launcher and login server.

Several Goodjers playing with Quantum Dawn and yes info is still good. I played a good 2 hours with them using their TeamSpeak server and had a blast. Big battles - they are semi-coordinated as there are tons of new folks, but they work together pretty well (with growing pains). Enjoyed it quite a bit, but still very confusing for the "new guy".

I'll have to see about joining that outfit with the rest of you guys. I just spent the evening on the snow continent rolling around with the VS horde. For some reason the game didn't really hook me through most of the beta, but now I can't wait to keep playing. Maybe its just all the release excitement. Regardless, I had a blast last night.

I actually noticed a GWJer last night, when I got the report that my grenade killed Xhosa. Sigh. Throw grenade, have a team mate run out into the line of fire so the slow moving grenade bounces off his back... Watching the grenade roll halfway back to me and kill two friendlies was not a moment I'll be putting on my resume.

In the few hours I played, I noticed more idiots (like the one screaming that the medics should be healing or uninstalling), intentional TKs and just plain stupidity than I did in the beta. I wasn't playing in a group, so I strongly urge anyone considering this game to join an outfit ASAP. Your blood pressure will thank me.

Ha, that was me! I got a chuckle out of that. Shortly before that I found a spot to use my new scope and shoot from cover...was working great until some clown decided to stand directly in front of me. Instant head shot and a warning about shooting the good guys

Stuff like that was happening to me a lot last night. I was constantly getting warnings about shooting team mates to the point it was warning me if i did it again it would freeze my shooting privileges. It was never intentional they just kept running in front of me.

This is what i just came to complain about.
i made a character and suited him up on a server only to find out that my buddies are playing on a differnet server. i went to create a vanu on this other one and i could not choose the weapons i had already unlocked.

I feel a lot ripped off now.

and what if i delete this character on the first server and create a character of another faction?, i assume i lose all purchases.

Totl rip off. i need a complaint box.

I got that quite a few times as well due to people standing in front of my engineers turret when im trying to cover a door.

Arch, SG is playing east coast on Mattherson.

As for the TK's guys, don't worry about it. They happen in this game, a lot. Especially when you put a few thousand people on a server playing a game they've never played before. Grenades take weird bounces, vehicular homicide is inevitable because infantry seems to think the road is the best place to run and people seem to think that the best place to hide is right in front of your freshly deployed turret.

I have to share a story with you about last night though. So I'm running with with SG. They're huge, fairly rigid and HIGHLY organized. Last night around 10:00pm we had 3 full platoons all over the map. So we get a call from our SL that we're going to Amerish. We look at the map and Amerish is about 90% red, this should be fun. So after a few minutes of prep we take a Gal out of the WG to a base halfway across the map. We're all wondering "WTF is going on?" and some players in the squad start to ask "why are we here, it'll take a day to cap this base"? The response is "patience gentlemen". So we cap the point then we're told to defend. We hold the point against a few minor skirmishes and after about ten minutes our SL says "look at the map". Using three platoons we punched a HUGE HOLE into the middle of the map all the way to the tech plan. A giant blue finger reaching down to our armor source. Next thing I know, there's SG armor all over the map. Holy crap what a night.

If you're trying this game and its a bit overwhelming or isn't quite as much fun as you thought, join an outfit. Any ops with an outfit is FAR more fun than soloing. This game truly shines when you're fighting with a group.

The game keeps crashing for me about half the times I redeploy after I get killed (which happens a LOT), it will crash to desktop. Anyone else getting this?

How does the outfitting work? Are there group leaders who give you waypoints on your map? (as opposed to soloing, which for me has involved looking at the map and seeing where contested zones are and running that way)

Is it expected that once you join an outfit that you be playing with sound/mic?

Everyone saying that the game is infinitely more fun in an outfit, but it'd be good to know what the expectations are before trying to join.

Just join a squad that says recruiting and if you're lucky it will be a platoon and you can get a feel for how working in a larger group works.

Wouldn't mind joining QD, but just read through their forums and I just don't have the energy to fool with all of that pseudo-military stuff. Maybe it's because I'm in the military in real-life, but getting 'assigned' a role just sounds like a drag.

I agree with you if you buy station cash but don't spend it. That should follow you everywhere. But this is an MMO and it is almost standard that when creating new characters or moving servers you have to start over.

It would seem to create a lot of balancing issues if I can buy something with real money and have it on all of my characters where the free to play players have to start over when simply buying through in game experience.

Looks like weapon previews didn't make it in release?

I think people were using them but another bug came up where trial weapons would disappear.

I suppose you are right. I still want what I want and I am always right I'm my eyes!

I know the feeling but I say give it a try and you can always leave if you want.

It's works. Just click buy and then there will be a trial button on the bottom. Be warned though: Right now if you have a boost equipped and have a trial weapon going and you log off the boost will disappear. It happened to me and I submitted a ticket and they already fixed it.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if pressing buy meant I bought it for good.
