Planetside 2 Catch-All

Downloaded the game through Steam and am up and running smoothly. There's just this small problem of having no idea what to do

Wow. This is quickly becoming a surprise treat the more I read about PS2. I had no idea it was launching today and I've been curious about it but I haven't really read or seen anything about the game.

Now I get to go home and play it! (hopefully) Yay!

I like days like this. It's like finding a wadded up $20 bill in your jeans on laundry day.

Kill the things that look different then you. Then look at the map and see what's blinking. Fly an aircraft, pilot a tank, or buy some grenades. Join a squad of like minded warmongers. The world is truly you're oyster in Planetside 2.

This launch is smooth as butter. We are having a blast as an outfit here. Currently split up into infantry, vehicle and infiltrator squads. It's much smoother than the beta.

Is there a Goodjer guild or server or whatnot? Is the info for the Quantum Dawn still relevent?

Pretty much, they aren't the only outfit with Goodjer involvement, but I they have the largest Goodjer presence. Check out their website and get on TeamSpeak when you are ready.

The lack of shooty shooty and surplus of game error 15 frustrates me.

Well you'll be happy to know I experienced a nearly doubling of framerate with the launch over the beta, so once the shooty shooty works, the shooty shooty is VERY GOOD.

That's good to hear because to be honest i've not been back in awhile mainly due to this.

SWEET JESUS this is fun.

First impressions: I have no idea what I'm doing, it's fun anyway, but it locks up quite often. Consider this a thread subscribe.

After not participating in the Beta for more than about 20 minutes I logged in today pretty much knowing nothing. It was a bit frustrating that the spawn after character creation dropped me in to action without ever giving me a chance to configure my controls. My first death was while in the menu trying to get my mouse controls set to something usable.

I had quite a bit of fun running around and dying a lot. I pretty rapidly settled into playing Medic as an attempt to do something useful that wouldn't require as much twitch skill. There's some strangeness there regarding how the healing gun works that I still haven't 100% figured out, but hopefully I'll get a chance to read up on it later tonight.

I need to get myself hooked up with an outfit that will help a slow old guy learn the ropes. Is that Quantum Dawn group good for that or are they more serious?

How do you lot have such a faster Internets...just started downloading at 350 kb/s

It might be that more people are crowding the CDN now.

Actually, that brings me to another point, how fast PS2 was grabbed, installed and played by a lot of people. Servers were full/high population in the blink of an eye, which shows how mature and broadly accepted it is to do digital releases now.

Nah that's the speed I always get on steam. Not bitter. At my current rate I might get to play tonight.

Guess I'm gonna be a Vanu on Waterson (East), as most everyone is gonna play there.

Just so everyone that is new knows: the OP is up to date.

Cool, this will be the first time I'm gonna play with a lot of goodjers.
I'll be on Waterson (East) as Vanu too, will probably try to join Quantum Dawn too.

Wow,

Over 3x the users we had in beta on right now

Wow, lucky Steam login or what? I've been playing so much GW2 I decided to take a break and check on steam and the front page blasts me with this game. I've been pretty in the dark about it even though I LOVED the first one.

Downloading now.

The servers are getting full and the battles are getting grand!

To join you all on Waterson East, I need to apply on the outfits website?

Looks like Rival Xfactor, who grew his youtube channel on BF3 but has been doing some PS2 vids, has a bunch of tutorial vids going up. I think he posted somewhere that he's working with SOE on these.

SOE has done a big set of tutorials that came out today on the official Planetside 2 channel. I am watching them all now and plan on hopping on the game later.

I was in the beta, but apparently the game is much better now. The beta had quite a few problems that I hope are fixed.

Wish I could play it. I keep getting a generic error message "there was an error completing your request. Please try again later."

Anyone else see this?

Darn it.

I'm stuck in my military unit reserves camp till the weekend. Won't even be able to start downloading from Steam till then. I want my shooty-shooty! And not the type that I'm getting here. Cardboard stand ups don't equal digital faces.

Played about an hour of beta and was finding my groove as an engineer doing base defense, repairs and cutting people down with my portable turret. Most likely will be back to doing the same again.

Darn it.

Double post.

Darn it

Darn it. Triple post. Internet is spotty out here.

I had to do the manual uninstall. I also got rid of the "launcher updater" and some other utilities related to SOE because they had "beta" on them. Hopefully that got everything.

Downloading through Steam now. I'm only getting 1.2mb/s but that's the maximum for my service plan so it's all good. I'm connected to the steam servers in seattle for downloading content, that's the closest server to vancouver. That may have changed since I last checked because the only canadian server back then was in Toronto.

Pearl it.

Played for about an hour even though I had no idea what I was doing. Cool but I'm sure it will be more fun in a group!

Touch it, bring it, pay it, watch it, Turn it, leave it, start format it
Technologic?

Can't get in due to the G22 errors. They're supposedly working on them. I could play earlier.
