Dark Souls Catch-All

PS3 version ordered (no 360) - wish this was a PC game

I wonder if the network features will be friendlist only or if it connects with anyone in general?

I held out for this one over Demon Souls since it was going to be on the 360 but now I'm thinking this would be better played on the PS3 so I'm torn.

It didn't show up until I was checking out. Not sure where it would have come from, I don't recall buying anything else recently that would have given me any amazon credit... Hm.

[edit]

The invoice just shows "Promotional Credit -$10.00"

Not sure why it doesn't show on the item itself, though.

Nope, no credit here.

Maybe I'm just that special!

Amazon promotional credits are given when the game ships, not when the game is purchased. It looks like you had a credit on your account from a prior purchase that was applied to this one.

I just don't know from what. It doesn't show in my account anywhere, which is odd. You'd think they would attribute it to some past purchase!

The prereview reviews make me want this game a great deal. A tag is in order.

I am preordering this weekend. I need another game that will be so frustrating I need to kill people in real life.

No! Stop it! I'm having a hard enough time not buying this game as it is.

What? Where?

I probably need to cancel one of my preorders soon. 360 or PS3, hmmm...

I couldn't be more excited for this.

I do not endorse any of the following websites, but I find the articles to be tasty:
Gamespot
IGN -
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Less than a week to go.

Anybody know what the final status of the North American collector's edition actually is? At the beginning it was indicated that the game came with a soundtrack, art book, mini strategy guide, and metal case. I've seen uncertainty as to whether the metal case is a traditional hinged steelbook or just some kind of collector's tin. I've also read confirmation that the soundtrack is a digital download in North America, but I've read conflicting reports about whether the guide and art book are digital or paper as it seems that the exact specifications have been in flux since I placed my preorder.

I actually know next to nothing about this game. Can't wait to buy it!

Likewise! I saw just enough to know that it's faithful to Demon's Souls and then I stopped paying attention.

My understanding is that the guide would not fit in the packaging properly so they eliminated the paper format. Given they are charging non-CE prices for the set I can't complain too much about the change.

That said, the official guide (not the same as the CE guide) is a 384 page hardback published by Future. Assuming it meets the standards of quality set by Edge magazine (a Future publication) I expect it to be worth the 25 extra bones.

Ugh. Since the CE was free there's not a lot of room to complain but the physical strategy guide was a big reason I pre-ordered instead of waited for a price drop.

I'm honestly tempted to cancel my order.

That IGN diary SHOULD be the review. Great stuff.

Can I tell you all how much I hate you? Amazon will be delivering this to my door on Oct 4th. I will be leaving to go on active duty on Oct 2nd. Gah!

Yeah seen a lot of this. I really am just hoping the art book is still a physical copy, as that is something I have from Demon's Souls and appreciate greatly. A physical CD isn't much good since I'm just going to rip the thing straight to my PC anyway. The strategy guide I'm either way on. Since it's just a mini thing, it's probably not that critical.

Anybody know what's in the strategy guide? Just starting builds and early game stuff? Kinda getting curious, with a week to go. I suppose the Japanese version is already out so there should be info out there on starting classes and other things. Might as well start planning a bit for Tues.

Do you mean the mini version or the full version?

No matter what else I buy, this is the one game I am sure I will finish.

The mini.

Looks like the Collector's Edition for PS3 is officially sold out at Amazon already.

To be honest I didn't realize it was mini either. That was probably my own fault though. I did end up cancelling because I was only pre-ordering for the purpose of the strategy guide. Otherwise I just can't justify $60 for pretty much any game.

Pre-ordered.

In preparation, I'm going to drive slow, peek around corners at work and take off running if anyone taller than me approaches.

I'm gonna have to cancel my pre-order oh, well. I guess I can wait till xmas...

Bah, the Navy gets its cold, briny hands on me permanently in May 2012. I'm enjoying my freedom while I still can!

It looks like Giant Bomb will be putting up a Quick Look this morning.

Heh. They weren't exactly the biggest Demon's Souls fans. I'll be surprised if Dark Souls fares any better.
