Dark Souls Catch-All

Dakuna - pretty sure you can leave and rejoin the Forest Hunters. It's definitely easiest to join them while you explore their area. You can always leave later and then farm them if you like.

Yeah, I was thinking I might need to farm some before taking on Sif is all, and it's easiest to farm there without being a member.

Yeah I thought a lot of people picked this up on Thanksgiving/Christmas sales for PC, so I figured it would be hopping.

But so far the summoning has been very disappointing compared to my PS3 runs.

I'm trying to talk a friend from college into picking it up for his PS3. If he does, I'll be double-dipping. If axeisandallies sent me a request on PSN I didn't notice, it's my back-seat console.

Let me know if you double dip, I'll add you as well if you like, on PSN. Or you can add me if you want either way

@Stele, GFWL.

@Dakuna, I'll send you a friend request tonight. Eventually we'll move on to other games right? I also haven't decided what system to pick DS2 up on but I'm sure the participants will be a factor. Fedaykin98 tips the scales for me towards 360 from the get-go.

Dakuna - You don't really *need* to do Sif until near the very end of the game, fwiw. You don't need to farm much in this game, or possibly at all.

Winterfist friended me on 360, maybe he did on PS3, but I don't turn that on except to play Demon's Souls.

High five!

I'll probably get Dark Souls 2 for PC.

Pretty much from here on I'm going PC for Souls games. I might double dip for whatever console I have, but I'm not super excited about consoles right now.

Any word on whether or not DS2 will use GFWL again? If not I'd consider saving up and piecing together a rig.

Funny, but I don't have much love for PC gaming lately. I really like my ps3 controller, that said, I can use that on my PC now, with the Cronus crossover device I bought. I have yet to test it.

Hopefully the next Xbox will be as awesome as the recent rumors, and hopefully DS2 will indeed be next-gen. I really, really prefer playing games on my couch.

I expect we'll learn a lot at E3 this year. Can't wait!

If DS2 is next-gen I'll likely just get the nextbox. I too like playing games on my couch, but have the convenience of living in a 750sqft apartment and could easily run an HDMI from my desk to my TV.

I am hoping for PS4/DS2 bundle.

I could use it on an xbox too, but I don't have one, and don't see myself buying one anytime in the future. Anything with proprietary cables/connections makes me gag.

EDIT: it being my Cronus device... sheesh

I would buy the hell out of a custom-edition DS2 Xbox 720. Unfortunately, those things never come out in the first few months of a console's life, and I'm a day one Xbox buyer as long as there's something interesting to play on it.

Dakuna - Have you played with a 360 controller? The consensus is that it's the best controller ever. I vastly prefer it over that of the PS3.

Well this isn't the thread for a console war, but I'd say that Sony has just as many proprietary shenanigans as M$.

Back to the Dark Souls! I'm hoping to wrap up my first playthrough over the weekend and move on to my second character. Here's what I think have left:
1. The last boss of Lost Izalith. Not sure but I took out two others and it looks like there's no where left to explore.
2. The Catacombs.
3. Whatever awaits me in Anor Londo beyond that Golden fog-gate.

That would be one hell of a long weekend of Dark Souls. At least you've already done New Londo Ruins and Four Kings, then.

The final boss of Lost Izalith is called Bed of Chaos and is arguably the stupidest boss of the game. It's the opposite of Capra Demon. Capra is utterly staightforward but hard to execute solo.

Take the time to do the DLC!

Btw, have we discussed here how the DLC map between the second bonfire and the Artorias fight is a re-use of Darkmoon Forest? I thought I noticed that during my playthrough of the DLC, and being in Darkmoon on my Strength character confirmed it. Same geography.

Okay I'm starting up my Dark Souls stream over at http://twitch.tv/kamakazi010654

First on the docket for tonight is the Stray Demon, I will get him I really will. Then....well I don't really know because I don't know where the best place to go next is.

Oh wait, I haven't done New Londo, or Valley of the Drakes. I plan on doing DLC on character 2. I guess I won't be wrapping anything up this weekend.

Uh why did you buy something? You can use you USB charging cable and the free drivers from http://www.motioninjoy.com/

They work perfectly with every game I've tried.

But you have a PS3 darn it. Should keep the series over there, where it began.

EDIT: Of course if PC releases on the same day instead of weeks/months later this time around, I'll probably go there too. The tweaks and graphics make it a lot better than the other two.

I love the Xbox Live experience. Has PS3 finally equalled it? Xbox got it right first, so there's a lot of loyalty to the 360 in the GWJ community.

Stele, I'm SL 92. Get a few levels and I can help you with the boss(es).

I'm also on the 360 ... friend me up (Hantaxp).

So I beat blight town and Sen's fortress yesterday

Blighttown :

Spoiler:

The guys with the bug eggs on their backs right before the Queen. I thought I would be kind and put them out of their misery... Promptly got maggotted to death. Should have known better

In Sen's fortress, I died... a lot...

but,

Spoiler:

Pushed the Iron Golem off a cliff, that was gratifying

I'm going to try to get back to Firelink shrine tonight, I think I can from Anor Londo. At least I hope I can. I want to feed junk for souls...

Spoiler:

I had summoned a helper for the boss and when I went through there, he ran past them. Of course, not having been there before, I wacked them and got maggotted. He helped me kill them, but I felt so ashamed for doing it. Then, I was all flustered and didn't do so well during the fight. Anyways, after a few tries, I got things figured out.

Cannot WAIT for Hanta to get to Firelink and then post here. Unless he already, you know.

Also: You can leave Anor Londo from the spot you entered it. I had NO idea for my first playthrough.

That video posted earlier is so funny.

Yeah you can but it's a long walk back. And if you can finish Anor Londo you get the LordVessel warp.

All true.

I know, but I'd like the vendor. I may try to romp through Anor Londo first though and kill Golden Boy.

I need to find the "Heal" miracle, as I have unwittingly killed both the Vendors that are supposed to be at firelink. In my more naive days "Try attacking" scrawled on the ground seemed like a good idea... Solaire too.. :/
