Gamers Who Give - Goodjer Charity Catch-all

This seemed like the best way to organize these otherwise transitory events into one place. I felt a bit like a "chugger" starting a thread about my own charity event, but a catch-all seemed like a good way to go about.

So let your generous cogoodjers know here about your fine efforts in the name of charity here and let the goodwill flow.

My nephew is trying to raise some money for his orchestra's trip next year to NYC. He's gonna be doing local fundraisers with his classmates but it won't be enough, so his mom set up this GoFundMe campaign. $100 so far from myself, my mom, and one of my sisters. Quite a ways to go, but every bit helps.

I don't know when the Chicago Loot Drop event will be. Hopefully we get that set soon.

And I'll be running another Child's Play donation thing through here again this year but I haven't started planning it yet.

I buy virtually every Indie bundle, and they give part of my payment to a charity, right? I'm a philanthropist of the highest order!

What about Ian's charity to help him F*** Cancer!?

I actually have a full on Child's Play donation drive planned and ready to go. I'm actually very eager to announce it, but have been delaying as I didn't want to step on PenCon's toes.

Oh cool. See what I miss when we're not wasting large swaths of the work day in one another's offices? We'll talk about that later this week.

GPWM. I was thinking of specific events but there's no reason not to include ongoing drives.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and update when there's new stuff.

Well, this thread was the straw that broke the Raven’s back. I’ve been successfully sitting on this big news for a long, long time, and I just can’t do it anymore!

Ravenwood Castle will be holding a charity event and donation drive to benefit Child’s Play. Details are here.

groovy!

I really like the idea of this thread- hopefully it'll be regularly updated with good Goodjer causes.

RavenCon is now official. We announced publicly this last weekend at Con on the Cob in Akron. We're now up on Child's Play's event calendar. And we've begun taking reservations for the event.

We're also going to be running an online donation drive for Child's Play as a part of the overall Hoop & Stick effort. It will begin one month before RavenCon itself, and run right up to the event. Not sure if that merits its own entry in the OP, or if the entry can be modified to show the 2/1 to 3/1 drive.

Oh, and if anyone has any ideas/suggestions for silent auction items, we're all ears!

Chicago Loot Drop is set for the year. We're doing a (bad videogame) movies + (good) beer event the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

I shall update the OP when... um... at some point.

Thanks to those who donated. DanB and I made it around at blistering speed and even managed to overtake a 62 year old Adam West at the finish line.

£540 raised for the fine folk at Mind.

Not sure if this qualifies for the thread, as it's not an event per se, but Board Game Geek is currently running an auction for the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund which is designed to help gamers in need.

There's over 500 really interesting items up for bid, including a night of gaming with some TV personalities. MonoCheli and I put up a weekend of gaming at Ravenwood Castle as one of the many, many cool items.

The auction ends Sunday night, so check it out soon if you're interested. Here are the links to the auction itself and Ravenwood's entry.

RavenCon is now live on our website. We're ramping up the publicity machine, and have been lining up some pretty cool sponsors, supporters, and donations for the silent auction.

As always, feedback and constructive criticism on the web pages is welcome!

Good luck! Looks like a great idea, love the Child's Play donation.

Cross posted here from it's dedicated thread.

The Child's Play online donation drive portion of RavenCon is now live. Click the ChipIn! widget on the RavenCon page to donate directly to Child's Play. The online drive will be live from now until RavenCon itself, the weekend of March 1st.

As a side note, we've completely sold out Ravenwood Castle for RavenCon, and have begun booking people into an overflow property. Given the rooms and tickets we've sold so far, we're up to a minimum contribution of $3,500 to Child's Play. And that's before the silent auction and online drive!

Figured I'd resurrect this thread to announce the Hoop & Stick Child's Play Donation Drive. Didn't figure the last post on the thread would be last year's donation drive!

Regardless, Hoop & Stick Convention is of course a thing again this year (renamed from last year's RavenCon). And although the convention has been sold out for months, we're putting on a public donation drive for Child's Play, so those who couldn't make the convention can still help. Details at the H&S page above, or in today's Quoth the Raven blog post.

If on either page you don't see the donation widget (right side on H&S, mid page on the blog), just hit refresh on your browser. Not sure what the issue is with that, but I'm moving hosts and site providers shortly, so hopefully that will fix it.
