Frog Fractions!

PLAY IT
It's an edutainment game that teaches you about fractions! You can upgrade your frog with laser targeting! And ride a dragon!
It's also

Spoiler:

a shmup.
And a text adventure.
And a courtroom drama.

And a bunch of other things, each weirder than the last.

Seriously, just play it.

"Oh! What a wingspan!"

I'm not sure what just happened, but it was great.

I would also spoiler everything after the first line or two for maximum impact.

Game. Of. The. Year.

Play this game, and stick with it awhile.

If you are reading this comment and haven't played the game, what the hell are you doing go play it. People are strange. Everyone else carry on.

Figures.

Spoiler:

It was all of the porn, wasn't it?

Spoiler:

I saw the end before the beginning. A friend was playing and kept insisting that despite what it looked like, it had started as a perfectly innocent game of fractions.

That was pretty sweet.

Spoiler:

I seriously need to take out disaster insurance for my porn factory. Why can't we re-sell megabytes of it from one day to the next again?

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize

Spoiler:

Dragons can move in FOUR directions.

I'm not sure the conversation about laser targeting was worth the time I spent on it...

Spoiler:

It took me for-freaking-ever to dive as well. I kept trying to catch the present that appears every few minutes (unsuccessfully), thinking that would suddenly give me enough fruits for the warp drive.

I never got the damn present. Did anyone ever manage to get it on any of the stages?

Tagged.

About the present:

Spoiler:

I suspect that it only spawns when you are a certain distance away and is intentionally unobtainable.

I made almost the exact same set of mistakes that everyone else did, plus an embarrassing one at the last part of the game.

I finally did finish the game, however.

Brilliant.

Spoiler:

Finally, all these years of playing Stepmania have paid off.

In order to get the presents you have to...

Hurr?!

I'm so confused.

Great game. So good.

Thanks Idle Thumbs for being on the cutting edge of indie/insane games. I laughed at parts.

They hit it on The Besties as well. I hope both outlets got enough positive feedback that they continue to give shout outs to crazy games like this.

I "innocently" provided a link to this in my game design class when talking about educational games. As I suspected roughly half the class got into it once one of them realized

Spoiler:

they could ride the dragon.

This week, a longtime favorite of mine, the Experience Points podcast featured an interview with the creator of this fine game. It's worth a listen.

That was awesome. However,

Spoiler:

Just like when I was a kid, I got stuck on the text adventure and had to check a walkthrough. I hadn't examined the nightstand. :(

Also,

Spoiler:

The pixelation of bug porn ... 'nuff said.

I literally spent an hour looking for the same damn thing. No walkthrough was made yet while playing it. Totally worth it, and completely reminded me why I don't play that sort of game anymore.

Thanks to this thread, I remembered Frog Fractions was a thing I never got to. I had to grab the soundtrack, what a stupendous game. As someone who didn't grow up with text adventures, that was easily my favorite part. Now if I didn't already have a massage backlog, I'd be tempted into adding some of those.

I couldn't find a SFW illustration for this, but you better believe I tried.

Oh man, that's my best flub ever. Glad I didn't catch that (?).

I love this game. If you'd like to support Twinbeard, the soundtrack is excellent. http://frogfractions.bandcamp.com/al...

Subvert me, video games!
