NHL 13 (XBOX 360) GWJHL Season - Week 6

Well, I give up on trying to track who's played their games. It's way too much. On the plus side, all indications are that everyone has been extremely active!

So don't bother posting your upcoming games for my sake. I plan on just rolling every Friday at 6pm CST, like I mentioned before. But I will hold up if anyone requests extra time to get a game in.

Am I right in saying that games against, say, Buffalo will be simulated when the week moves on? I tried playing Buffalo for our game last night -- knowing TheCounselor is currently naked somewhere -- and there was no option to play the game.

My preference is to just let games like that get simmed. I could kick him and let him rejoin, or he could drop and rejoin, but it feels like it would be smoother to just keep him, or anyone else that misses time in the league.

If we can set our games to let our opponents play, I think that would be cool. But with 82 games, I think we will all get plenty of hockey in.

I've got one more game left against Boston/Boudreaux - awaiting friend request response / message to schedule.

I still think the game itself lets you set your team to CPU Mode so that other teams can play if you're not going to be around.

As for the tracking of games, might it be worth it to have a google doc that everyone updates? Or is that too much? I guess if everyone is getting their games done quickly it's not much of an issue. Just something to consider I suppose

I'm pretty wide open this evening 5-9pm CT. We'll get it in. I have a game against B Dog to play as well.

ColdForged and I scheduled our game for tonight at 9pm Eastern, so I'm free to play before or after that.

Friday!? Holy sh*t...

Edmonton! Who's Edmonton?

Just some Rebellion Scum.

I may be able to get on after 9.30 CST...

Good game B Dog. I have no idea how I so completely fell apart in the third period, but you certainly made me pay for it. Well played.

I think "made you pay for it" is giving me too much credit. I was lucky on more than one occasion. But it was an exciting, back-and-forth game, that's for sure.

Strangely, I had a very similar game with ColdForged right afterward. He went up a goal, I tied it and then scored a game winner in the last minute. Since magnus crushed me 5-0 the other night, I've won three straight. Still 4-7-1, mind you, but trending in the right direction.

15 seconds left. 15 seconds left. Truly the hockey gods hate me. First the lockout, then this. Good, fun, close game!

Perhaps, but that's what it felt like to me. I felt pretty good in the first and second, but then in the third you seemed to completely take over. That's where your last two goals were scored, I believe. Both times I remember thinking "Aaagh, I just screwed that up, he's going to score". And you did.

At least it wasn't a last-second winner, I had a couple of good chances there at the end and couldn't put it in. Or an overtime game. My 4-2-4 Bruins are REALLY tired of overtime.

It was a great game. Skinner scored an amazing goal from his knees (after I tripped him from behind, of course) and Cam Ward said no on a couple of pucks I was sure were going in, including two breakaways.

That game made me want to 1) get back to playing offline with the Canes and 2) see the actual Canes play some hockey (no offense, ColdForged ;)).

That may be my favorite part of NHL 13 so far, playing both online and off -- when I'm scored against, it's either because of a clear error on my part or a realistic display of skill by the opposition. Nothing feels cheap. So good.

Didn't see you last night. I'm not going to have a chance to play again until Sunday, so I'll try to figure out how to put my team on CPU control and you can play whenever. Or just let it get simmed when Jayhawker rolls to the next week.

I'd agree with all of that except the "so good" part. I mean, yes it's good - but still aggravating when you're on the receiving end. I played a random online game earlier yesterday and the other player was just unbelievable. He'd calmly skate into my zone, do a deke here or a deke there, maybe a pass, then line up a shot, pull the stick back, and almost lazily flip it into the one section of the goal Thomas wasn't covering. It was effortless. I think the score was 4-0 in the first.

I love that NHL13 apparently gives you that level of control, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to do it.

Sorry, family interrupted my gaming time. Thanks, I'll try to play tonight when I get home or if Jayhawker rolls is ok by me as well

I agree on both of these points. I can (usually) read the plays as they unfold and it's immensely satsifying to see everythign play out with some semblance of realism.

On the other hand, there are still times when I see a player doing things with skaters I could only dream of figuring out. I will say however that it does seem like certain sections of the goal appear to be easier to score on than others if you can get the puck there. That could just be a high scoring area that you normally want to go for in real hockey, or it could just be the stats of the goalie giving an advantage, I don't know. From what I can remember in my games, there are some times a goalie will make a crazy one-timer save, but other times a lazy flip will go in with hardly any effort.

Again, that could just be hockey *shrug*

Can you hold off? Tonight I'm won't be able to make it. But tomorrow I'm free. I have 3 games left, vs. 2 teams.

I can do that.

Great. If you could give us till Monday that'd be awesome. I've been working pretty much every f*cking waking hour this week.

No I'm not sh*tting you! OKAY!?

Spoiler:

And no I don't sleep 16 hours a day

Thanks!

Rebel and I had two tight games. Detroit comes from behind to win in a shootout. And then Edmonton wins 2-1 in regulation.

I have only 1 game left against Psycho but he hasn't been on in a few days so I will just let that one get simmed.

Detroit is ready! Good game Psycho.

Ok to sim my last one. I doubt I'll make it on tonight and have to get up at 4am for a day trip to Austin, then somehow make it back in time for the Monday Night Football game in Dallas.

Green, let me know when you are ready, and I will roll. Otherwise, my plan is for Tuesday am, to give you through Monday night to play.

Green, let me know when you're available to play.

I should online around 9:30 EDT.

Hey, sorry Green. My 7 month old has strep throat. He's been a little bear lately. I'm gonna be on there tonight around 10:30 EDT. Hope that works for you.
