Arrow: New CW show to replace Smallville

What's funny about the Blue Beatle/Atom thing is the interview with the Arrow show runner and the Agent Carter show runner (they're married) he said he's been surprised by the amount of times he's asked for a character and Warner/DC higher ups didn't blink.

Can I blow your mind for a minute?

Man, I feel a little robbed we didn't get to see the Laurel and Nyssa Girl's Night Out. I assume it would have been the best Sex and the City episode ever.

We might get it next episode. I hope we do.

In other news, holy crap. Arrow and Flash are fantastic. This episode was awesome.

I'll raise you.

Man, I loved The Dresden Files. I has a sads.

Hi guys, I built a super suit. Its only weakness is throwing knives.

We still have the books. (And the audio books.) Maybe someday they'll do another TV show.

I love Arrow, but I really hope they start reigning some of the storylines in. Tonights episode felt all over the place with too many stories / side missions / flashbacks etc...

Since he's come back , it barely feels like the show is actually about the Arrow anymore

I thought that was clever. Some super genius built a suit as a weapon but he has no experience with fighting so he screwed up the design a bit. I also thought it was funny that Oliver beat him and walked away. Uh, Oliver, your buddy Ray just got hit and flung 30 feet by a huge ass lightning bolt. Might wanna check up on him.

About the Ray thing. I said the same thing! I guess Arsenal should have ducked? LOL

Definitely hasn't been as good as season 2, but it's still entertaining.

Yep, I'm still really digging what it puts down.

Obviously, Roy parkoured to safety.

This moment made me giggle. I kinda loved it. He flew in, thought he was big sh*t because he made a fancy thing, and then... boop.

Actually, writing out boop made me wish for a version of that scene where Oliver just walks up, pokes him on the nose, and then whistles while he skips away.

It's very much of a piece with the show's dedication to showing that this vigilante sh*t is hard to do right, and in preserving the importance of ideas like training and dedication. You can't just take a few boxing lessons, or build a supersuit, or get mirakurued and be great.

I don't know if I mentioned this here or in the Flash thread or anywhere really, but the scene where Ollie dares Barry to dodge his shots felt like the sort of "powers v. training" scene someone would be tempted to write for Superman and Batman and it would really annoy me because I think it's important that those two are on equal footing (and also Batman is Always the Awesomest is approaching tedious meme level), but I readily accept that dynamic from these other characters.

Paul Blackthorne... what a good actor.

Yeah, sh*t got real because he made it real.

Palmer asking Cisco how the prisoners eat and then complete the "transaction in the secret prison was hilarious. Even more so because we didn't get an answer! HAHA.

Roy's dead? No! Oh wait he's alive! Yay! Oh there's Thea, I bet she becomes Speedy, the sidekick, now! Ra's? What are you doing with the sword, Ra's? No!

With all the emphasis Malcolm was placing in training Thea in swordplay, I was at the very least expecting her to show some of that against Ra's, but alas. That chokeslam through the glass table followed up with a blade in the gut was still pretty brutal.

Eh, a quick soak in the Lazarus Hot Tub and she'll be fine.

But insane.

I fully expect it to rule.

It's too bad there was already a show called Felicity so this show can't be rebranded properly next season.

I'll admit I'm a little disappointed they took care of Thea's Lazarus Pit Madness so quickly. She should have at least choke-slammed someone.

It was madness and great, all told.

I'm assuming it will come back as a storyline later on. She'll have some crazy hallucinations or blackouts or something and then go all Season 6 Buffy for a while.

Not to turn this into a bro-fest but Ollie totally hit that.

You mean Felicity hit that, if we're looking at who initiated it.

On top of all the escalating awesomeness, I got my Girl's Night Out wish!
