Pencon 2012

People keep talking about booking rooms and I don't want to miss out!

Hey guys, remember that the discount isn't being applied by the online reservation system. I'm going in after the fact and applying that. So don't pay in full when you make the booking, you'll miss the discount. I just issued a refund for the person that happened to, but I was only informed of the issue because my crack staff caught what happened.

You can book rooms before or after the event. From what I heard rooms registered before or after event will be your room for the event. So as long as your ok with arriving early or leaving late you can reserve which room you want. If not you fall upon oily's mercy and whatever is left over.

I grabbed the merchant cottage myself. I am guessing rabbit reserved the clock tower. You will be required to pay one hundred deposit.

Yes, I be Mr. Clock tower, aka "Late Night Dread Tower" or "early morning Avatar Fiasco Playset Tower" or something.

Quasimodo?

We'll be in the Candlemaker's Cottage - a bit more evocative than "Room 310"

Yah i want a cottage or tower, and want to start looking for roommates to split the costs:)

I didn't want to say anything before hand, but the Clock Tower happens to be my personal favorite cabin. They're all nice, but this one was built by a different guy, and the woodwork is just amazing. Needless to say, I've already spoken with the guy and he'll be doing more work onsite for us in the future.

Well, hopefully. I can't promise you that you'll have that room for Friday and Saturday nights but we'll certainly try and make that happen.

Yeah, as Oily has stated... I hope everyone is fully aware that rooms booked VIA the website for Thur/Sun does not mean that is where you will be Fri/Sat.

Meaning you may be booted from your room and have to relocate only to have to move back Sunday night.

My assumption is that most of us would be flexible after we get the marching orders from the PenCon staff and if need be can switch our prior reservations (and give Teneman a bit of a headache...) I just figured we would lock down a spot for Thursday and Sunday with the recommendation Teneman gave us for convenience with the boy.

I submit to the direction of the PenCon staff

I cannot believe we are up to 400 posts already and we still have 5 months to go!

Frothing demand!

Of course. My assumption is that Ill end up grabbing bunkmates for the tower and it will all just kind of ... work out.

If it doesnt? Meh. I got a tent.

If it doesn't...do you like bath salts, Rabbit?

If someone ends up eating someone else's face, then this Con would win. But clearly, someone would lose (in the most delicious way).

Ok, I'll allow bath salts but if someone smokes them and then eats someone else's face, you're gonna get kicked out, sorry.

No face eating. Well, unless the other person is super into it and it's between consenting adults. Just give us a heads up first.

Oh, speaking of, what is the smoking policy, exactly? I don't smoke cigarettes but a pipe or cigar is nice from time to time. Is there an area outside and/or inside where this is acceptable behavior? (Sorry if this was mentioned already and I missed it.)

Yeah. How many people could theoretically stay at the castle? Demand seems awfully high this early, plus children, significant others... They gon b lotsa peepl.

If you'll kindly note, I did not utter the word "smoke." I'm talking about relaxing in the tub, sir.

This all sounds like good fun. I don't want to commit to anything yet, but I may be getting in touch with people who say they are looking to split rooms or have extra space. I am polite, sleep on floors often, have no diseases/addictions and I've got all my shots.

Also, I drink copiously and stay up late. Just so you know.

I may get in touch closer to the event, so if anyone who is looking let it be known.

Also, I'm in the Detroit Metro area and might want to carpool.

I'm up for splitting a room with a few people.

I'm the king of GWJ Michigan, and you'll pay your tithe to me.

I hope so. We can smoke our manly pipes and talk about whether Jerry will cross the channel before Christmas.

Stop letting people in on our party man.

I can confirm that the disc golf outing will be pro smoking. Also pro chew. I'm from oklahoma dammit.

If cigar smoking is allowed in places, I will bring lawn games, and potentially a group of friends that would meld quite nicely with the GWJ crowd.

This event could warrant a cigar, and you know what they say about young men with big ciagrs.

(Actually I don't know what they say. A wrinkly old guy in his late fifties strolled by me while I was smoking a ciagr on vacation, uttered these wordds, guffawed, and walked away. Can someone Encyclopedia Brown this for me?)

I'm disappointed that the Clock Tower is taken. It would be so fitting.

A challenger appears!

Disc Golfing? I'm interested in this. Very. My thumber is my only weapon and puts my back out of commission very quickly. (I'm not very good, but I enjoy it)

No smoking in the rooms, only outside.

Ohio, y'all.

All cabins and nearly all rooms have balconies upon which smoking is accepted. And of course strolling the grounds makes for a nice cigar smoking setting as well. Smoking indoors on the other hand, is prohibited by law. It also results in a pretty hefty smoking charge to cover all the extra cleaning and replacing of linens, etc. in order to make the room smoke-free for the next guest.

I enjoy a good cigar myself, and have always been interested in trying a pipe, so I'm quite likely to join you out on the patio to blow a few smoke rings.
