Pencon 2012

Firmer than a senator's penis at a truck stop. Which is to say, very firm.

Those are the dates. Book 'em.

I'll be there.

Driving from northern Illinois. I can pick up 'Sconies as far north as Milwaukee, but Racine would be better. Anywhere else along the way.

Ass, gas, or dice. Nobody rides for free.

Shoot me a PM.

disturbing on so many levels! And what is dice suppose to mean?

Ok, Ravenwood Castle is now officially GWJer occupied. If you are coming to PenCon and wish to make a reservation for days in advance of, or after, the official event you can now do so.

As I mentioned in the official Ravenwood thread, the best way to handle the reservation is to PM me and let me know you're going to book a room. In addition to the standing 10% discount, I'll be adding a special 10% PenCon discount onto any GWjer reservations on either side of the PenCon event itself. So if you want to come early or stay late, please feel free to do so, at 20% off the normal room rate.

The PenCon sign-up itself isn't available yet, right? If I plan to be there (hopefully!) the Thursday night before PenCon, is that going to be covered by the PenCon stuff, or do I need to reserve separately for that?

I'm trying to figure out if/when I should grab rooms. Probably going to fly in to Cincinnati and then it's a matter of how to get from there to Ravenwood. Any Goodjers planning on car pooling to and from there? Or otherwise needing transportation from point C to point R who can help split costs and nail down dates?

Great question. When can I reserve a room?

When I don't have a kiddo in the NICU and the staff works out a pricing structure. This month for sure, hopefully this week.

Jesus, I didn't know about that. My thought and positive energy coming your way. Take your time and hope all is well!!!!

Oh. No, she's fine. There's no cause for alarm.

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. She's good, she just needs monitored. We'll hopefully be taking her home real soon.

I just brought that up because it means I have even less time than I normally would

Tentatively going to be in for Thursday and Monday - will let you know after my wife gets a chance to look at her work calendar on Monday.

I have made my mind up that I was going to this a while ago (thanks PAX Prime), so now I have to decide who I am bringing with me. I know my oldest son is game, he gets along with adults just fine, and he loves playing games with people, but I don't know if my 8 year old would enjoy it. Are there other people bringing younger kids? Are there normally things for the under-10 crowd to do? I anticipate doing Wednesday night through to Sunday day (most of Wednesday and Sunday would be travel from MA), so hopefully the rooms aren't too full too fast.

I saw that that weekend is already blocked off, thanks Teneman!

I would love to consider doing this, will depend on pricing and if it is kid friendly..I have friends in Ohio (toldeo) that I would visit for some of the time, but would also like to participate a bit as well!

Past PenCons have been mainly adult affairs, but I'm sure no one would object to parenting goodjers organizing something for the kiddos. It's not in our plans at the moment, but if we have a contingent of parents bringing their kids, we could investigate what exactly we could do for them so they have fun.

I don't know if Penguin will be bringing his lovely ladies, but we are planning to bring our little man, He will be 13 months by then. If he continues to learn like he has I fear he will also be toddling by then -shudder- which should be fun/frighting.

I've never been to a GWJ gathering (to my knowledge, none has happened near me), but I am tentatively planning on attending this PenCon (for one obvious reason).

Like Mantid, I'll likely be flying to Cincy and will be interested in carpooling to get to Ravenwood from there ... unless I find out that somone nearby (AR, TN or KY) is driving there and willing to carpool.

well, since the castle seems to be sold out for the weekend -- anyone need a roomate? Nearby alternate hotel?

Its not sold out Rabbit, just prebooked by Oily for Fri/Sat. A ticket for PenCon gets you a room for those nights. Which room is up to Oily, so bribe him heavily

How can it already be sold out if the sign-up and pricing hasn't been posted yet?

Or did I miss something earlier in the thread?

[edit]

Nevermind. Tannhauser'd by Lord Teneman himself.

Teneman told me to book online, and all the rooms are taken. So maybe I'm just missing something?

I'm guessing you (and me) were missing this part:

So we wait until Oily posts the pricing for PenCon tickets, then buy one (or however many you need) which guarantees your stay at Ravenwood for Fri & Sat.

I bought all the rooms =)

You'll be getting rooms through the pencon staff just as soon as we figure out pricing.

Yeah, sorry for the confusion. Nights before and after the official Con you need to book through me. Friday and Saturday nights come with your PenCon tickets. Oily and crew have already booked those on behalf of all Con attendees.

Confusing, yeah, but ultimately also cheaper for all attendees.

Panic resolved. Expect much cajoling and bribery. I'd like an enormous room we can podcast from, Kthxbye.

We'll have to talk about the best places to do that from. I'll talk to Teneman and add that to the list of things to check out when we do an on-site visit to scope out locations for events.

I meant hotel room. Grin.

From what I was looking at, there is a "Tea Room" that is big enough to have the Cinderella coach house under it. Maybe that room could fit your needs.

I will cut someone to get the jacuzzi room. Just sayin.
